That shortcut will merge a copy of all selected layers into a new layer, preserving the originals.

Select non-contiguous layers by using the Command key (Mac) to select, as opposed to Shift-clicking them.</description>

		<description>Okay, now &lt;b&gt;that&lt;/b&gt; is handy, knowing how to create a merged &lt;b&gt;copy&lt;/b&gt; of layers.  I knew how to merge all, visible only, and selected only layers, but I did not know about the merged copy of layers!</description>
