lrkt This week we're going to take a look at the Camera Calibration panel. There's a few different things you can do here from customizing color based on your camera to using a color target. Also, there's a couple of things I mentioned in the video. First, here's the link to the article from Eric Chan if you want to delve into this topic more. It's uses an older version of Camera Raw but a lot of the information is still relevant. Also, here's a link to the X-rite ColorChecker Passport that I mentioned as well. Enjoy and have a great weekend.

  1. AJ Johnson says:

I noticed that you had several camera calibration profiles in your drop down. My question is, do you always use the same one (camera-based) or is it scene dependent (like white balance)?

  2. I would say to use the camera profiles based on scene situations. If you are a portrait photographer, your profile won’t be anywhere near as important as say, an art reproduction photographer. I create profiles for my scanback camera periodically so that I maintain a level of fidelity to the original artwork. For my portraiture, I rarely use a profile. The difference other than white balance is not all that noticeable to the client.

  3. Steve Veloff says:

Great tutorial! Would a profile for a particular camera be the same (or nearly same) for every camera of that model, or would one have to be created specifically for that camera? Or are there stock camera profiles to be found somewhere?

  4. Fred says:

Thanks Matt. Great tutorial, as always!
