Jackie Rosenstein shows us how to decorate a text layer using a clipping mask and a layer style.
- Open a new background image and insert a type layer
- Create a new solid fill color layer and drag it below the text layer
- Create a clipping mask to bring the color into the text
- Decorate the name with an outer glow layer style
Elaine McDonald has a tutorial about using the brush tool and a layer mask to decorate your favorite photo.
- Open your image in Photoshop
- Create a new fill layer and drag it below the image
- Select your image layer and add a layer mask
- Using the brush tool set at a low opacity, paint your picture back in, slowly

You two did a great job! I am new to photoshop so you both taught me 2 new techniques. I have one question for Elaine. I can’t seem to find the flower brush you used. Do you happen to know which preset it was under?

Wow! That was realy cool! Girls were very professional. So, why don’t start a section: photoshop for kids? That would be very resourceful to teachers and kids alike.
