  27. You scared me! Stopping Dtown!
Happily you’re only changing the name/format.
Don’t keep us waiting too long!

  28. Nice lens tips! Too bad renting lenses in Germany is considerably more expensive than in the US, otherwise I’d give it a try more often!

I kind of liked the name D-Town (Dslr-TOWN :-) ), but as long as the show is good, I don’t care how it is called!!

  29. BRUCE ELDER says:

    excellent tips, gentlemen ! ! !

  37. Jack says:

Shocked when you said D-Town was Kaputs, but recovered when you said coming back with new title. Have been a fan since episode one. Although this show is ‘free’ (as RC constantly reiterates) must tell you that it serves as one of the better marketing products for the Kelby line of material. Probably would not have subscribed to either NAPP or Kelby Training without this show having introduced me to the value of membership. And, the good news, absolutely no regrets for having done so.
Keep up the good work. Looking forward to new season under new format.

  38. Derek Mullins says:

    New to DTOWN, Good Show!

  39. Roger says:

They should have changed the name of this show to A-Town…for all the advertising that has crept into the show. Hopefully the new show will go back to the roots and actually have more than 10% TIPS.

    • John A. Fugel says:

I agree with you, Roger. Like many photography magazines (which we actually pay for), the show has become a marketing tool for Kelby Training and various equipment manufacturers.

That being said, I’m both a NAPP member and a subscriber to Kelby Training. The materials are excellent and well-produced. Even someone like me — a 35+ year shooter — can learn something new in every class.

I appreciate the 127 programs that were produced. I’ve been watching since #1. I hope that the new show is more about producing excellent images and less about marketing equipment.

  40. Eric Laberge says:

I like that Peter Hurley! Gotta have him on again!

  41. Yoshinori Miyazaki says:

    Great final season show!
    Great tips!

  42. Andrew says:

Great beefy show today. I guess you can date the clips by the length of Peter Hurley’s hair :)

  43. Tony says:

Will we still be able to go back and watch all the D-Town episodes online or will the episodes be removed completely from kelbytv.com?

  44. Miriam Rosenthal says:

Love the show. I will have to try the telecoverter. I don’t shoot sports, but might be good for other things.

  45. Just love the show, like I do all your shows. RIP D-Town. I’m gosig to connect with you in november cause I’m going to RSNA in Chicago in late november (my first time in the US) I’ll talk to you on Google+

  46. Charles says:

Well, that’s all 127 episodes watched. Thanks for all the advice and entertainment guys. Looking forward to the new show.

A question for Scott:- Why don’t you use Auto ISO for some of your sports work especially the night time. It would be especially useful where lighting is not constant across the field.

  87. martin gillette says:

i thought “d” stood for “digital”. looking forward to the new show…..

  88. Russ says:

Nice show as usual guys. When talking about teleconverters it is important if not responsible to tell people that they do not work with all lenses. Before buying a teleconverter check the manual that came with the lens you intend using it with to make sure it is compatible with teleconverters, and what magnification of teleconverter it is compatible with.

I am not sure about other manufacturers but with Nikon it is said that their converters do not physically fit their lenses which they do not list as being compatible. Teleconverters are best used on prime lenses with a large aperture or on constant aperture zoom lenses. I would love to use the Nikon 1.4 on my 70-300 VR f4.5 – f5.6 when I do ground to air aviation photography, but Nikon list this lens as not compatible with teleconverters and by all accounts it won’t fit.

  89. Markus M. says:

RC, do you own the Sony a77? What do you think of it?

  106. jock Goodman says:

For those of us not going to PSW, there is going to be a lot of dead air on the NAPP/Kelby TV pages. But Sept isn’t THAT far off. Some really great tips today. I’ve never used those buttons on my Nikon 70-200 2.8 and just thought it was another AF button but NOW i know I can set it for a specific spot. THAT’s cool. I love the news about new products way before they are in a magazine and the talented guests you get. Hope Isaac isn’t too bad for you and especially La. Miss. I also wonder if the RNC is a real zoo with all the people/security/reporters etc.
thanks for all the shows and I enjoy my KT membership. Been a NAPPer for many years. PLEASE remember to send someone to Hawaii for seminars. We can’t afford to fly to the mainland for training. We get left out. Jock

    Thanks

  111. Bruce Faulkner says:

    Shabang

  112. Thomas says:

I am still on catchup, now at show 97. I think the actual content is getting less and less. I feels like you are down to two tips and a guest tip per show. The rest is contest and adds. I am still 30 shows behind and it worries me. How much will be left when I catch up?

  113. Donald B. Miller says:

Nice show, again. For a second I thought “No DTown!” but, whew, just a name change!
