wonderful show
Thanks guys! I always look forward to this show. Keep ‘em coming!
Just thought I’d drop a note about rechargeable batteries.
I’m using Ansmann Energy NiMH batteries which are 2850 mAh. Been using them for a couple of years and they are the best I have used to date.
The Ansmann charger I have is also really good.
Rich
More car stuff!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Pete. You should check out Darren Heath’s F1 photography. http://www.darrenheath.com
He takes panning and race photography to a whole new level.
Great tips on panning. Thanks
That was a fast show. Nice panning tips Pete. In the future keep the guests coming.
Pete’s tips on panning were inspiring. I’m not much of a race car fan, but I will be at the track soon to try this out. I also appreciate Pete’s teaching style; he tells me what I need to know and gives visual examples (i.e., panning from the hip, not from the upper body). Thanks, Pete!
Good fast moving show, loved it.
Really like the panning tips!
Fred
Hi guys. Cool show again
But Peter you forgot to tell which mode the Canon 70-200mm F2.8 must be set to. Is the mode 1 or 2?
Michal
eneloops are much better. they hold the charge much longer. thats what count if you have no guy to charge your batterys (like joe mcnally has).
face it most people charge batteries and then strore them for some time. and when you need them they are half empty.. NOT ENELOOPS… they hold the charge.
Great show. Nikon rules!!!
Good show. RC and Pete both had great information. Thanks
thanks for the panning tips! I was just trying some panning yesterday.
Gret tips and show like always
killer show!
Good show guys. Great tip about panning. Larry mentioned he couldn’t find any rechargeable batteries greater than 2700 mAh. Power2000 batteries (http://www.amazon.com/Power2000-2900mAh-Rechargeable-Batteries-Pack/dp/B000GBG9CG) are rated at 2900 mAh and are a pretty decent battery. Been using them over the last few years and no problems. Might pass that on to Larry and see what he thinks about them.
great show. Question for Larry. You previously recommended the Energizer batteries and Charger because of the fast charging time. I was wondering it the Energizer Charger will work with the PowerX batteries? thanks
interesting info on panning!
would love to Tamera’s new book!
thanks
Excellent show, as always.
Just an addition to the panning tip…. make sure you continue to shoot right thru the panning motion. I’ve found it helps a lot.
As always awesome guys !!!
I’m interested in learning more about how much detail you gain (or lose) by shooting more exposures (or fewer) in a bracketed sequence for HDR.
would like to see more macro-photography tips
Rock on :O)
Great show! Now time to go practice panning

thanks for doing this show. enjoy it a lot.
For some amazing panning shots check out http://www.darrenheath.com he is one of the finest motorsports photographers and his panning is out of this world !
good show
Enjoyed the show. Larry, in the future, an explanation of the benefits of eneloop batteries would help, since for a more occasional shooter, they are probably still a better choice.
Really interested in the prize this week, I now have a one week old son!
Great show guys and a comment for Pete: An airshow photographer gave me the following help for panning.
1. Try to have your hips pointing towards the expected finishing position.
2. Then rotate your upper body to the start position.
3. As you pan your upper body will now want to return to its normal orientation, that is being in line with your hips.
This will guarantee that you end up “balanced” at the end of the pan and not unbalanced and wobbly.
4. Continue panning after you have taken the shot.
Keep up the great tips and thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us
Great tips all around. Gotta try panning
Good show!
Great tips on panning and batteries. Would love to see some info on using older, MF lenses, and B&W processing.
Great episode
Great show. The book looks very interesting.
Great show. Always nice to have a Canon shooter to even the odds a little! One thing you didn’t mention about panning (I think someone else mentioned it too) is how to set IS when panning. Great HDR tip, too, RC. Keep them coming!
great show guys, thank you for another helpful week.
I hope to win!
Even though it was short, there were some great tips! Thanks for the panning info, Pete. These tips are helpful with shooting airplanes, too.
–John
Thanks for the tip on Q-tip
Love Pete on the show.
Great show
When doing pano pictures wouldnt it be a help using a monopod ?
Great show
The panning tips were great! Thanks
Great show as usual!
Thanks for the cheap tip on Battery cases with the Q-Tips! I went out and bought all the store had! Love them cause I can put 6 AA’s in one which is more than enough to replace in a flash. I can keep the case in my pocket and not have to carry additional packs etc. Thanks Larry!!!!
Thenk you Pete that will help whin I do moto-cross
Great as always but very short… Rafael, nos quedamos con la miel en los labios.
R.C. thanks for the tip on multiple exposure shooing. Until now I have passed on many shots during the day because I was always blowing out the sky. Now with your tip I can go and shoot those things I passed on.
Great tips on panning shots as well.
cool panning trick
Thanks for the panning Techniques
Nice episode

Now that we have the Powerex batteries is there a charger that you can recommend? Thanks so much for all the info.
Bring Pete onto the show more often. He has a great teaching style and I would love to see more on motorsports.

Hi guys!
AWESOME SHOW!
I really enjoy D-town.
Victor
Larry, Teresa is right. What charger?
Love the show guys, learned a lot
A big thanks to Pete for your excellent tips on panning.
Awesome show as always. BTW: There are batteries with even higher mah from Vapex Tech. They are 2900mah. I’ve got a bunch of them and they give great recycling times. They also keep their charge quite a long time.
Good points on panning, thanks
Just a thought to add about the batteries thing. I’ve found that pre-charged ones tend to be more reliable and hold their charge for longer.
Here’s the link.

Always enjoy the show!
Just purchased Nikon D800, would like to see a show featuring Nikon AI lenses. Thanks!
Just bought a D800, could you do a segment on setting up and using the D800?
Been watching many of your old shows to get my skills up to the D800 level.
Great show guys, always good to see Pete representing us Canon guys
Oops…Dtown TV is getting so boring!
Can you use the Energizer charger with the Powerex batteries?
I hate to say it but I’ve been so disappointed in Powerex batteries over the years. Hardly any of mine will hold a charge now. They lasted maybe one wedding season. Eneloops are the way to go!
Great show,. Have to agree about the batteries. Enloop is great for holding the charge!
Great discussion of panning but you failed to mention one important tip, “Don’t stop or hesitate your panning when you press the shutter!” This is a tip that many people need some practice to overcome this bad habit.
Too short . . . give me more.
a comment
Another excellent show
congrats
Excellent tips on panning! Thanks!!!
Great show! Thank you.
Great show! I would like you to talk more about weddings. Or you could invite guest speakers who will talk about weddings. Thank you!
I love watching the show. I often watch parts of the shows several time.
Sorry not going to pat you on the backs. Is there some kind of rivalry going on between RC and Pete? You two seemed quite awkward together. Go to 3:29, 3:50 (if looks could kill) and 11:32 . Something to work on. Guess being honest means no prize for me
BTW Powerex Maha has been my choice for years. They do not last forever but much longer than non-rechargeables.
Great tips guys! Is there any good books on using single Flash for portraits?
