  8. Carl Aylman says:

I’ve been watching DTown since the first season. Enjoyed this show. I would love a Nikon lens bracelet. BTW, What day/time is the show broadcast live?

  9. Terrence says:

Video, Schmideo. Who cares about video. Give the prizes to someone else if you draw my name for the give aways. Video is NOT photography!

  10. Tony says:

Really liked the interview with Doug Sonders. He really has a class attitude. He seems like a really nice guy with a good attitude toward those that might not have attained to what he has. Should be a lot more people in the world with that type of attitude. Also, like the spider holster tip. I will definitely look into it. Great show.

  11. Ben says:

  17. walt biegon says:

what is happening to all firewire 800 card readers?

  18. Gary Elliott says:

While I think video is interesting, I don’t care to do serious video myself. As that industry grows, maybe there is room for a video only show . The reality for me is that if I wanted to do video I’d have any one of the numerous units out there now that do all the right stuff with none of the “special” settings knowledge required :-)

  19. W#ILLIAM CHINN says:

    1. Thanks for the DSLR video tips.
    2. Kansas City? Remember there is a KC, Kansas and a KC, Missouri. Lost track of a relative when he went to KC. Assumed Kansas with no luck. Years later found him in Mo.
    3. If you are a wide body wearing a holster, beware of narrow doorways and walking through street crowds. That’s why moving trucks have signs saying wide load.

Can you comment on using the holster with a battery grip on a tripod with a quick release. Is the battery grip stressed in terms of the shifting weight of the camera/lens combo?

  20. Harry says:

I really like that Spider Holster, how do you think it would hold up riding a recumbent cycle ?

  21. Fred says:

    Great show guys!

  22. Jack says:

Larry, thanks for the basic tips on using our cameras in video mode. Have had my DSLR for two years and for whatever reason have yet to do video.

Question to Pete: By carrying your camera as you illustrated with the Spyder holster does it not increase the chances for bracket wear between the camera and lens?

Thank you for yet another terrific show.

  23. Abear says:

Love the show… how about some studio tips?

  24. peace gaddis says:

    wow another great one

    Great tips!

  26. Anthony says:

    Any tripod review shows?

  27. monkeyinabox says:

I’d be worried the Spider Holster would pull my pants down. ;) But if Pete, swears by it, it must be golden. So either Pete is pretty tall, ot RC and Larry are short. I’m betting on the later.

Great show. The video tips are relevant since it’s a common function of DSLRs these days.

  28. Nelson says:

    great show guys.

  70. rian says:

    pete’s funny. :)

  71. Suzanne Offner says:

I enjoyed the video tip. I’ve been on the lookout for legacy lenses, but as more people shoot video, they are getting the same idea, and manual lenses are getting more expensive.

  72. Steven Scott says:

I like the Spider system concept. Perhaps you should demo taking it from the holster to a tripod or mono pod.

  73. Joe S says:

I almost didn’t watch this one when I read the description because I didn’t think any of the topics interested me, but nevertheless I learned quite a bit.

  74. Jeff B says:

Great snow. Are you and RC feuding? It’s been a while since you two have done more than two consecutive shows together. : )

  82. Rene says:

    great show
    thanks

  83. Great show guys! Larry, be nice to Pete! :-P

  84. What Doug said about supporting your local community reminds me of the recent post on Rick Sammon’s blog. A photographer took a class with 2 “pros” and had nothing nice to say about them. They were unhelpful and even rude to the students.
    Definitely NOT Kelby Training material!

By the way, you should read what the student wrote about the pro’s “tips!” You’ll get a laugh.
    “Never shoot RAW…”???

    http://www.ricksammon.info/2012/06/pros-please-be-kind-part-iii.html

  85. chris says:

Grest show guys. How about some photography shirts to giveaway sometime?

  86. Gene Kimball says:

As someone who is quite clumsy with things on his side, I am not certain that the Spider Holder would work for me but I do like those kind of tips. Thanks, Pete. As for video, if you focus at the greatest zoom level and then back off, everything should be in focus as long as the camera does not move after focusing. We used the same technique for still photography when shooting quickly because there was no time to re-focus and a telephoto lens was used. Of course, that was 40 years ago…

  87. Denise Behreandt says:

Great show guys! And love the “Talk Nerdy to me” Shirt.

  88. emilio b says:

    really cool episode

  89. Marie Sjoberg says:

Great tips this week, nice to see Pete

  90. Miguel Campos says:

    very cool tips!
    thank’s guys!

  91. liberty says:

Pete you’re a Gunslinger with that Spider Holster.

  92. James Humphries says:

Great show, I have the spider belt and I really love it.

  93. Tom P Zachman Jr says:

One more time…..another great show. I agree with alot of the others about video. DSLR’s/SLR’s were designed for stills, thats our craft and we strive for expertise in our field. Video is a whole different genre. I do like the fact that PS has some video capabilites, but our focus is still images. If our programs and our tools start straying too far they will become mediocre at what they’ve tried so hard and so long to perfect.

  94. Tom Good says:

Would love to see a comparison of high ISO. On today’s upper level dslr, especially the D700 vs d7000.
    Thanks guys.

  95. Very nice tips and after a long weekend shooting my family’s trip, my shoulder are longing for this spider holster … :-)

  96. Alvin Banlaygas says:

    Nice tip on shooting videos.

  97. Don McKay says:

Another good tip to pass through, since Photo and video have different setups tell your audience that if your camera has shooting menu banks or prel-loadable setups, make one set up for Photo and one for video.

  98. Roy Adrian says:

    thanx for the tips…

  99. Stuart R. Harder says:

Really liked the camera carrying belt.

  100. Ken Z says:

    Awesome show!!! Pete rocks!!!

Thanks Pete for standing up for the truth (a.k.a. Canon)!!!

  101. Jim Neale says:

    Come back Pete!

  102. Gerardo Palermo says:

Great show! Thanks for the video tips. I got a D7000 not long ago but I haven’t even touched the video part of it. Will give it a try.

  103. Sam S. says:

    Great show!

  104. Roger says:

    Welcome Pete! Great show.

  105. Francis says:

Great show last ep Larry! Welcome back RC and the gang!

    Love the tips

  116. cmd says:

Nice focus tip with the Nikon.

  117. eli greengart says:

It is incredible how much taller Pete is than Larry or RC. All the other shows have him sitting down.

  118. Brycia says:

Wow, Pete, first time I saw you standing! Didn’t realize you were so tall when I saw you at PSW.

  119. martin says:

    great show

  120. Nice demo of the spier thing, Pete :)

  121. jock Goodman says:

As usual, an informative show. One comment above was a good suggestion about a show eith tips for shooting at mid day when you have no choice in the matter, like a sporting event, or outdoor wedding. Some ideas for a show about this could include: fill light, dynamic range settings for such contrasty lighting, exposure comp and spot metering. or just pray for overcast sky.

  122. Dave says:

I haven’t had good luck with video these tips should help thanks

  123. Mark Harper says:

    get show.

  124. Sebastian Gomez says:

I just switched to a DSLR that can record video, so this show was really helpful, thanks guys!

  125. Ruben Ricardo says:

Please I like to see more of wedding photography.

    Thanks.

PS : After watching Jerry Ghionis videos @kelbytraining I change 360% the way that I had about photography.
    I like him so much.

  126. khan says:

    great show

  127. John Dewberry says:

I need to get more involved in the community. Great tip, Douglas Sonders!

  128. Ken Lager says:

Another great show guys. Keep up the good work.

  129. Too much void chat guys… We need more tips and practical examples on photography. OK?

  130. Tony Bennett says:

You guys are great as usual. BUT! I have to say I resent paying for video on my still DSLR camera! I don’t shoot and will never shoot video, so why do I have to pay for it! If the video wasn’t there I could most probably could afford a better DSLR camera. So, I have to say this episode was red rag to a bull. If I want a video camera I will buy one. Call me a dinosaur, that is fine, I will keep to my still photography.
Keep up the good work, but please no more on video.

  131. Hubert says:

    DTown is tops on tips.

  132. IraE says:

    Another great show.

  133. Christopher Mainprize says:

    Good Show.

  134. Pete rocks! Always great to see a new episode in the queue. Please keep them coming.

  135. Carol Holley says:

Great show! (except for all that video stuff…)

  136. TimR says:

I’d like more info on brands and use of extension tubes. B&H has probably 4 brands for Nikon alone. Also, how well do they work with a nifty 50 vs a zoom lens? Do they work with something like the 70-200?

  137. TimR says:

Thanks for that no the spider holster. I bought the dual version recently and was wondering why the camera on the left was harder to get out. CreativeLive just had a 25% discount code – ugggg, two weeks after I bought mine. But I love it.

  138. John Lavoie says:

Just did some catching up on ep. I missed.
I received a spider holster for Xmas last year – IT ROCKS !
So secure and with the optional lock getting a better position for a shot (like climbing a hill, ladder or tree) becomes much easier.
I like the tripod tip Pete and I plan on adding a ThinkTank modular unit or 2 to complete things.
