Great show. I enjoyed watching Trey in the studio talking with you. I’d love to see you have other great photographers on the show in the future. I realize this is the “tip” show, and not the “talk” show, but you can always do similar shows and have the guests share lots of tips. If you ever have Trey back (either here or on the Grid), it would be cool to hear some of his travel stories (his favorite places he’s gone to shoot, why he liked them, etc.). Keep up the good work.

Awesome show once again! I’m an advanced amateur photographer and simply like to just have fun with the art. HDR has always been at the top of my list when it comes to photographer and can’t wait to start using the new app!

What can I say…. a great concept for
the Stuck on Earth app that Trey has created
Not only does the quality of the images vividly come to life on the iPad and you can zoom in closely to examine details within each photograph
but It can be used to really get a sense and feel of a location and possibly fine tune the locations with a scouting agent..
The HDR tips were just an added bonus

That apps looks so awesome! I’ve been thinking we needed something like this for a while, and I think the app is the way to go. Now to get an iPad so I can use it, unless there’s an iphone version coming soon.

I enjoyed the demo of Trey’s app. Looks really slick and would be very, very useful for trip planning. You guys should have taken it outside in Tampa and demoed how it worked.

I like HDR when you look at a picture and can not tell it is HDR. Even better I would like to know if camera manufactures are working on cameras that the sensor is so good that HDR will be a thing of the past.

Not an iPad guy, yet but it does seem to be the wave of the future. Right now it is an extra thing to carry when traveling not enough storage to download images. have to admit it seems you can do lots of things quicker than with a laptop. The right tool for the job. Always good to “expose” (pun intended) oneself to new things. Keep up the great work.
I just finished Trey’s 11 hour HDR course yesterday and was starting to go into withdrawals! Enjoyed the opportunity to see him again and will definitely try the Stuck On Earth app on my iPad. Thanks!

Loved the show! I always like listening to Trey. I follow him on G+ (as well as RC and the other Kelby Media crew). Stuck On Earth is the only app that I’ve ever wanted badly enough to consider buying an iPad but I think I’m going to hold out hope for a while that Trey will put out an Android version.

It sounds like the app if for the I-Pad so unfortunately I’m locked out of that. I’ve been doing something like that for some time using Google Earth and looking at what others have seen in their travels hoping I could get some shots that were even better. Great Stuff. Thanks!

Thanks guys – great show. I appreciate the comment regarding the tip on dealing with halos. i’m dealing with that issue right now. The -1 image seems to be the obvious answer that I hadn’t considered. I’ve also been using the Stuck on Earth app and greatly enjoy it. I’ve already found some wonderful but previously undiscovered locations right near where I live. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

OOOOH! I wanna ‘get stuck on earth’ on Android!?!?!?!!! please….. HDR info was great. I don’t know much about it yet, but tried it in Photoshop. All my attempts ended in unreal images. Your show has given me pointers where to look for inspiration/help. Thanks.

This episode was very inspirational. I am not a photographer by any count but am trying to learn as much as possible and keep trying to improve the photo’s I take. I also try to inspire others to get into the hobby of taking pictures. As Trey said we can all create some beautiful Images which bring positivity in our lives.
I love this episode and was really thought provoking. I would describe myself as a daydreamer.
I love the process of getting lost in a photo. If I am capturing, editing, or flicking through photos I love the ability to let my imagination run free.

I am a new NAPP member and have lots to learn. I am a mother of seven and would like to take to know how to do those types of HDR images…
Been into photography for under a year. I found Trey after a HDR google search and started follwing him. I then learned about RC after seeing Trey and RC in twit photo. Then came Scott kelby and on and on. I know love learning from all you guys who do a great job in social media. I had the great pleasure of being in a hangout with RC once. Keep up the great work, us beginners are truly inspired by all your work and openess to share with the world.

This is the 1st episode of D-Town I’ve watched. Ive been watching Photoshop TV for a while now though. I just got into Photography and I’m loving it. The reason I watched this episode was for Trey. I’ve been following his work on Google+ for a while now and I’m a huge fan of it. HDR is mainly what I’ve been focusing on. It’s not as easy as Trey makes it look but I love the challenge. I’m now subscribed to D-Town. I look forward to episodes to come.

This was the 1st episode of D-Town that I’ve watched. I’ve been watching Photoshop TV for a while now though. The reason I watched this episode was because of Trey. I’ve been following his work on Stuck In Customs and Google+ for a while now. I just got into Photography and HDR has been mostly what I’m focusing on. I subscribed to the Podcast and look forward to watching more episodes.

Great show as always. Its hard to ask for something to cover as you guys have covered so much in the last 98 episodes. studio setups using speedlites interests me, i.e. what elinchrom / westcott gear works best with off camera speedlites via cord and wireless using triggers vs the built in infra red. I know a lot is covered in the kelby training videos which i am slowly working through, but some of the simple stuff can be done on drown.

Also to agree with several other guys here, I’d like to see more of this type of format for the show, maybe every 3rd or 4th show could be in this format, and you could get photographers on and interview them about their specialty and get handy hints, people like Chase Jarvis, David Hobby, Joe McNally, even the Kelby crew… Scott could talk about sports photography…

I have always had an interest in HDR but have not really given it a serious go at it effort but after this show it has become more interesting and something I will try. I have Photomatix but have not shot anything to use the software for. Thanks for giving me the kick to give it more thought.

I think covering a topic with a guest host in more detail is a very good idea. It shows a different approach and opinion again. Maybe you should do this on some other topics as well.
Regarding HDR: Would be nice to have your opinions what may the the best technique to shoot and process HDR panoramas. E.g. the pro and cons of first doing the tone mapping
of each segment and then stitch it. Or first to get a 32bit of each piece, stitch it in 32bit and then tonemap the complete panorama. I think there are several aspects of it worth discussing.
I think this was not covered in any show yet.

I don’t wamt to be rude, but this was the first episode in Dtown’s history that I actually fast-forwarded. It lacked the variety of topics and it didn’t had the energy it’s known to have.

Great show guys. Can we get a comparison show for Nik HDR and Photomatrix HDR software.
Trey is personable and his photography is inspiring. He gave me the bug from following him on G+. I’ve started teaching myself how to use Photoshop and other tools, like those put out by OnOne, Nik, and Topaz, and I’m excited to get a camera that I can’t afford so I can start learning HDR photography.

I am just blown away with HDR and you guys are the ones that inspired me to give it a try. When I see what Photomatix does with my bracketed images I freak, it is amazing, now listening to you today, I realized that I should be bringing the HDR images back in to Photoshop to lighten the skies as you mentioned and maybe add some sharpening, thanks alot you guys are awesome.

Anyways… thanks for the talks about the post processing and layers. It is something that is not utilized nearly enough in my photography. I have been leaning towards neuteral density filters lately just because of my fear of photoshop.
I will commit myself to re-read Trey’s HDR manual and re-educate myself on use of layers (i.e. -1EV for the sky) approach.
Please keep preaching layers I see way to many painterly pics on flikr… The world needs to use layers!!! .

I have watched all the episodes and this is my (current) favorite. I particularly liked Trey’s comments about why he like dusk light for shooting HDR … good stuff to mull over for my next out and about!

Great show. I’ve been trying to improve my HDR skills recently and have been following Trey’s work and it’s really helped me. In particular, layering the tonemapped result with one of the original exposures and then blending/masking really helps reign in some of the unwanted side effects of HDR. Thanks for sharing these tips!

Hey guys – I always enjoy the show that you put on. I think that it is great that sharing level has not dampened as you have grown as artist. I really enjoyed listening to Treys behind the scene talk about the Stuck on Earth app. I have started taking photography more serious in February of this year and have been reading through everything I can, I am a visual learner that does best hands on – so I am looking at buying Treys 11 hour video series as well. I started out by going to Trey’s site to look at the photos which sparked my curiosity on trying to create my own HDR image. The first attempt was based on Trey’s free tutorial, which then led to buying RC’s book. I don’t consider myself a photographer but I do enjoy the skills I have learned to create a piece of art from each trip my wife and I take. We agree that we are here to experience as much of the world as we can. Thank you both for helping us achieve a new way to create memories from those experiences.

Wish I had know about this before our trip this summer (Wenatchee, Wa; Vancouver, Victoria Island, Whistler Ca; Seattle; Deception Falls- my favorite place on earth)!

A key reason I would get an iPad is to be able to use the Stuck on Earth app. Love Trey’s HDR work and the inspiration, guidance he provides everyone. Currently looking to get some editing software and really can’t decide between onOne’s Perfect Suite 6 or Nik’s Complete collection bundle (or even the Topaz bundle) – so if my name gets pulled from the hat you will save me a ton of researching grief and $$$ I can’t really afford to shell out at the moment. Plus the books, dvd tutorials will help get me started on the HDR road – killer prize you guys are offering. Great show RC !!!!

when go out to shoot, forgot to bring tripod, but want to shoot for HDR what is the best way to shoot? any suggestions?

Downloaded trey’s app during the show. Initially was disappointed because my area was pin free. But thought afterwards – what an opportunity for me and my photog friends.

I just don’t get the people that hate HDR. There are some shots where it is badly done, but that is true of nearly every thing you can do a photo in post. Both Trey and RC do great work on the HDR front.

Thanks for doing this Video with Trey. I have been a great follower of you and Trey and there has been so much wealth of information i have learned from you guys. Stuck on earth is a great APP and now i use this on all my business travel. I can look at the spots in advance save them and when i am on my trip i know where to go exactly without wasting any time looking around for places. Now i am able to take more photos of great locations in my short business trips then what i was able to do earlier, big thanks to Trey for coming out with such a wonderfull app.
HDR is not just taking photos you need to have the post processing skills also to make the image stand out and yet look realistic which is acceptable to viewers. Your post processing book has wealth of information to achieve the skills. I have benefited to a great extent by reading it and practicing it.
Keep up the good work and waiting for more in future.

Wonderful episode guys. Treys work was actually the very thing that inspired me to get into photography. As a life long artist and decade long designer, there was just something about photography, Trey, and to be honest, this entire facet of art that completely stole me from my oils and my pencils… and threw me head long into taking photos.
It was probably one of the freshest and most satisfying change of life moments I’ve ever experienced. I appreciate you guys here at D-Town with your tips, Trey’s amazingly moving work and all the great photographers I have had the honor of meeting along the way. Each of you, inspiring me and keeping me hungry for more.

I watch your show every week but could you help me I have read so many peoples view of ppi and dpi . Which is most important ? I see all these beautiful photos from 6mp up and they have so much detail how is this done?

Thanks for an informative show. Having followed Trey on Google+ for awhile, it was good to see him ‘in action’. The app looks very useful, and I hope to contribute once it reaches the android platform. With all the great photography on G+, seems like it would be a natural for those tablets. Any idea when it’ll be ported? Enjoyed the discussion about mixing ambient/artificial light for HDR as well, and wonder if creatively using small amounts of fill flash could bring out similar subtleties when blending.

A really inspirational episode. I like it when you have guests and every now and then it is great when they become the centre. RC is a humble presenter who does not steal the limelight (Larry could do this too!).

I have been reading up on both sets of software and been waiting for a good sale. Like most people, I haven’t had the funds to buy them. I love HDR and have followed Trey’s site. I’ve read RC’s book on how to build a website and have his HDR book in my “wishlist” but haven’t been able to order it.

This was a terrific podcast. I’m new to D-Town TV, but I took away so much from this episode. The most important thing I learned was that at some point you “cross the rubicon” and start to enjoy the post processing as much as you enjoy taking he photo. I’ve never looked at photography that way and I’m anxious to start looking at post processing as part of the creative journey instead of a necessary evil.

For me, it is about capturing these spaces at the right moment, to be able to express my memories to others. It’s after 4am down here in Australia but I just had to take a moment to thank you guys for a really awesome show. I’ve been sick in bed for over a week and sort solace with my dTown friends after being woken up with a pretty severe coughing fit.
You more than cured my poor mood and have started me planning by next photography adventure.
And what a team you provided: RC the King of Cool, and Trey, with or without your utility belt your an inspriation to so many aspiring creatives. (Looking forward to Iron Man’s return on the next Episode).
I finally got into HDR on a mid year trip to Iceland and Greeland, where I employed it extensively. I’m hooked and am becoming quite an advocate of the HDR workflow. As well as allowing greater control over Scene Brightness Range the variety of expressive outcomes this workflow provides is incredible. It really is the signature style of photography that has marked the beginning of this century. It is a total game changer, as is evidenced in software, app and (I suspect) camera sensor technology development.
Thanks so much for a really inspirational show. Trey together with RC, Larry and the rest of the Kelby team are what education needs to be about. You provide an inclusive, nurturing and inspirational model. And you know no fear.
