Episode Summary
DTown TV is a weekly show brought to you by Larry Becker and RC Concepcion with KelbyTraining.com.
Episode Summary
-David Ziser has tips on how to pose a model
-RC shows off the Grab N Go bag from standbagger.com
-Larry talks about a couple Micro 4/3 cameras
-Plus, a call for volunteers for the Help Portrait project

I liked Larry’s tip about mounting the hoodman loupe to the small camera.
I’ve done the same thing using larger rubber bands and a couple zip ties to mount mine to my D300s for shooting video.
Makes it much easier to see in bright light as well as getting manual focus correct while recording movies.
Thanks for the show.
Watch every show. Thanks Guys
nice tip larry … becker strap!
The standbagger bag looks pretty cool, I’m in the market for something to carry my lightstands and modifiers. How padded are the speedlite pockets though? I’d be worried about being able to throw it in my trunk without breaking anything…
Also looking at the new Westcott Apollo Orb and Strip boxes, any chance you could bring one or both of those onto the show? Specifically looking at the material that the umbrella ribs are made of, will the crease and bend if the wind catches my lightstand like my other umbrellas or will they bounce back like my reflector disc and softbox?
Thanks!
- Dave
Loving the Becker Strap guys.
Hey I’d love to hear any tips you might have for photographers who wear glasses.
Keep up the great work.
Rob
You guys are really awesome. I have learned so much from you guys
Really liked the bag that RC showed. As for a suggestion for a future segment, how about a primer on light stands – from lightweight to c-stands to boom stands. What to look for etc.
RC Leave Larry alone!
kewl show,,,good idea with the rope ties,,,I have learned alot from ur show,,,,
My favorite show on photography.
Thank you very much for the tips on the photographers that are on Kelby training and the new bag!
Great show. I really liked that tip on using hairbands to attach to the hoodman. I’ll have to give that a go when I’m next shooting in bright light with a point and shoot.
You guys are always good especially at telling us how to spend money
Great! pick me for a prize
Love the tips on equipment and I’m now gone to by some hair bands for my Hoodman.
Liked the tip about posing people from David Ziser.
Once again great tips, Help-portrait organizer for a 3rd year and so true we do make a difference.
Another great show. Love the psuedo “cheap shots” segment.
The flash bag looks very cool. Larry brilliant tip.
Thanks for another great show.
Great show as always!
Best show for photography and an excellent episode!
Love the show. Love all the tips that yall give. I would love to see some more stuff on portraits lighting.
Great show again
MORE lighting stuff like the bags…..PLEASE
Good show. Now Larry needs to figure out how to make a cheap shot segment to make a HoodLoupe.
Great show as always. I was hoping the Becker Strap was the prize for the week, but the book looks great also!
Loved the Becker Strap!
Got any suggestions for a bag that will hold my camera, lenses, flash cords etc. plus, my pop-up light reflector?? Having trouble finding a good/large enough bag for it all.
Thanks guys!
Great show!
Great show. I think the Help Portraits sound like an awesome way to give back.
Good tip on using the loupe as a eye piece.
Thanks!
Thanks, I
Loved the hoodman tip.
Excellent show
Best Cheap Shot ever . . . The Hoodman Viewer as an LCD viewfinder
Great show and tips. I really enjoyed the segment with David Ziser.
thanks for another great show
nice tip about the shade. Thanks,
Never miss a show.
Thanks guys!
Pleas do more lighting stuff. Thanks
Larry could call it the “Better Becker” strap
nice tips!! we (central kentucky photographer’s group) will be doing a “help portrait” for a meetup on dec 11th. can’t wait for that..:)
The Becker Band…great gizmo! The bag looks great also RC. Looks like lots of room for that lighting gear. Oh, watch out Larry, RC just got a hold of that camera. I don’t think you’ll see that one again!!
interesting as always. I’d like to see more segments on posing models. Keep up the good work. CHeeRs!!!
Great show guy’s. I never miss an episode.
Cool stuff! Great lighting equipment bag! I really like Steve’s work and would love to have the book! Thanks.
Really enjoyed the tip by David Ziser.
Also, thanks for the cheap shot tip about the
Becker Strap.
Loved Larry’s cheapshot— I don’t have micro 3/4 camera but I’d love to try it sometime
The thing I don’t like is, RC has more bags than I do. I’m gonna have to work on that.
I try to catch your show every week…love ‘em! Keep up the good work…and I like free stuff
Great show! Loved the innovative and cheap optical viewfinder.
Larry you are the man for amazing cheap tricks.
Very cool.
nice tip Larry, RC you have a nice and calming voice…
great training video always…
Great tip on the strap.
I will try it.
great show ,, thanx a lot
wonderful show
MORE TIPS on back lighting and front lighting a subject
Great show. Glad I found the site.
great show thanks.
awesome pair!!
Great show
great show guys!
Great tip on the bag. The only drawback is I see lightstands not needing as much protection as my flashes….
David Ziser’s tip was great. Thanks….
Great show guys thanks.
Any chance to have some more details on multi flash set ups and also using a mix of third party speedlights
Y’all did another great show. Becker Bands….OK ! I’d like to win that book, but, I’d be more impressed to have everybodys autograph. I’ve always been a big fan of PS guys and gals.
Very good show as usual. I would like to see you reviewing photography books from the past.
like the way to attach the hood man loop to the olympus EP camera!!
great show
Loved the posing tip. Would like to see more on aftermarket lights. Thanks guys.
Great show, guys!
Hi guys. Now….everybody sign a ”copy” of the book give-a-way and ship it to me……LOL
Thanks.
Becker strap, LOL. That was great!
Should be patented as “Becker Scrungie”.
Liked David’s tip especially
Great show! Thanks for the tip, Larry!
Great show as always. Just wanted to add that RC’s book “Get your photography on the web” has been a great addition to my library. Keep up the good work.
Great show this week. All photographer edit on a computer so how about a show on what is needed in a computer and monitor. Thanks. PS. lets make the show 30 mins.
That was the final reason I needed to get the Hoodman Loupe. Thanks guys
Loved the use of the hoodman — One that I will be useing
Thanks, Jim
I liked the bag
Another great show guys. I love Larry’s tip with the Becker strap…really cool. I’ve also looked at the standbagger several times. I must be as bad as RC with the # of bags I have. My wife loves purses and changes them frequently. So in return I just get as many gear bags as she does purses. Keep up the good work; I never miss an episode. Thanks.
Thanks for another great episode! The posing tip was AWESOME!
Loving the shows, would love to win the book signed by everybody in the building : )
Love the hair band idea.
One of the great things about working for myself is getting to watch D-Town TV on my lunch hour. I always enjoy the show!
thanks for the great show guys! love that bag, might have to look into gettting one of those!
Love the tip of using the Hoodman on a P&S style camera. I own a Leica V-LUX 20 that I’ll try that on since I already own a Hoodman Loupe. Thanks
RC: which model of the Skyport triggers do you use (the Elinchrom EL 19360 Skyport Universal Trigger Set?)? And why do you use these when the industry standard seems to be Pocket Wizards? I’m in the market for triggers and could use a little help in choosing them. As you know, the PWs have a great reputation, but are very expensive! Maybe a great topic you two could talk about could be the various types of triggers out there, noting their pros and cons.
You could do the same with speedlights! Yes, the SB900 is great, but what are some other lights that are good as well?
Just some suggestions…
Also, thanks for showing us the stand bag – I’m in the market for one of those, too!
Lastly, I really like the show, but I wish it was longer. It seems like your show is often 50% show and 50% ads. We’d love to see more content!
Thanks!
It must be an interesting experience checking out at Walmart with Larry. Ladies hair rubber band and who knows what else.
Simon says give Shawn the book. Autographed by everyone.
Floof and run
Love the help-portrait concept !!
Great show!
Becker strap rocks!
Another great show. D-Town TV is always my very favorite thing on the entire Internet! Seriously.
Always a good show.
As always, excellent show, but way too short!
Loving the hairbands Larry.
Wee segment on photographying the moon would be handy, currently driving me insane!
H!
I’d like to see more inspirational and less technical stuff on the show. Can you give some tips on how to improve nature macro photography?
Excellent. I think this awesome program is getting shorter, is it? Keep up the good work
Love the show, but they keep getting shorter. And what in the world is “the grid”??
Are hair bands getting the same reputation as duct tape? At least on this show they are.
I still think that Brad should come back and talk about light stands. I know it is not a great topic but like you guys say, get it right the first time and you save yourself in the long run.
Enjoyed the show.
Good hoodman tip
I really liked David’s tip on how to pose a person against a pole. It is great to see tips in action rather than just having it explained. Thanks for another great show!
Great show guys. Larry you hit it out of the park with the Hoodman Loop.
Jim
Hey Guys.
Enjoyed the show as always, would love to see a show about lighting stands and how someone can buy some on a budget. what kind should I get? What are the most popular? (manfrotto)
good show
thanks for the tips
Larry great tip
Tip on mounting the Hoodman was great! trying it on my cheapy point and shoot
Hi
Great show
thanks
I want to go ahead and be able to leave a comment on the website!
Thanks for the tip about the standbagger. As you accumulate more lighting gear it’s nice to have something to haul it around with. But it does lead to a question, RC, how many bags do you have? Or do they end up at Kelby training?
would love an auido version only, like the grid.
thanks
mark
Great show!
I can’t believe that I’m the 101st to post a comment, what a queue… Nice tips…
“Cool” count = 14
Passionate for Photography
Enjoy your show. You guys are growing into it very nicely.
My podcast show on photography!
The Hoodman/rubber band tip is brilliant! Looking forward to the flash tips RC mentioned.
Great show and awesome tips.
Becker strap???????
my wife says that bag is cool..
nice bag!
thx
Great Show! How about more information on wildlife photography.
tips are always hot
So many things to learn….love the tips guys!
Great tip on using the hair bands with the Hoodman. I just wrapped some around my Zeikos and it works great. Thanks!
Hey Guys,
please, please stop using the iPad during the show. It´s horrible. RC is presenting some stuff and Larry is just playing around. We all like the iPad, me 2, but sometimes you forget that it´s just a tool, not a swiss-army-knife.
Best,
Martin
Larry & RC – thanks for great show, again.
Hair bands for the Hoodman! Why didn’t I think of that? Great tip -thanks, Larry
Great tip with the hoodman loop!
Great show. The hoodman tip was brilliant.
Larry really is a genius at improvisation! He must look a the world in a different way than almost anyone!
Thanks for the work.
DBMiller
Larry, your tip rocks!
Photography used to be a passonate hobby of mine, now its just passion. I am thrilled to find your program online, as I am just starting to really learn how to use my camera and produce images that will hopefully touch hearts like those images touch mine. Thank you for being a accessible resource for enthusiastic beginners! Also, a big thank you to Kelby Training!
+1
Very light and cool show. Thank you
Thanks guys. Another great show.
As always, great show.
Good Stuff, guys! Thanks!
RC is not a SLACKER!
great show
Great show guys i want to leave a website link of great and fast reviews and comparisons
http://snapsort.com/
Enjoyed the show.!!!
I am going to go try the Becker Maneuver on my point and shoot without a viewfinder. I have the Hoodman already so this will be a piece of cake! Brilliant idea!
You guys rock!
Larry, am immediately heading to Wal-Mart for set of headbands to attach Hoodman loupe to my DSLR. No more fumbling in the field…
Great tip, thank you.
Guys, don´t leave a Olymous Pen close to RC
Thanks. Loved the hoodman tip, Larry!
a comment
Good show!
Larry comes up with the most awesome simple tips!
If not already done yet on DTown, how about an in-depth discussion of when to use the three Nikon AF Focus Sensor Modes settings, those three settings on the right rear of a D700, D300, etc. Indicated by a white rectangle, etc.
Great show guys.
Great tips. I love ANYTHING with equipment being a tecno-junkie. I even like Dave Black’s commercial as I shoot motoX too. alohadios, Jock
great show! I liked Larry’s tip about mounting the hoodman loupe to the small camera. Now if I can just get a hoodman loupe.
You guys are getting better every week.
Watched every show. Keep up the great work Guys. Always good tips and great inspiration.
Hey RC great bag, not so sure about the YN Speedlight, have a look at the notes on my blog, which I think you get a link to off my name above
you guys rock!
keep doing the great work
Great episode! Would love to read that book by my fellow Canadian, Steve Simon!
Hey guys… Great show, but how about night shots of the Moon?
