It’s always a great show.
Guys, I like that material and issues you are addressing, but sometimes we learn from experimenting and not just by having a do this and do that list to follow. If you try three different ways of doing things you realized not only what to do but also why you selected the chosen option. Keep up the good work!
Great tip on bracketing Larry! I’ve been wondering how to do that easily!!!! Thanks.
Love the “bears” tips !
Great show as usual.
About HDR and camera limitation, you can also take 3 with EV-3, then 3 with +3, and then 3 with EV0. This will give you 9 pics (3 sets of 3 each) with EV’s (-4 -3 -2) (-1 0 +1) (+2 +3 +4).
would like to see more camera setups for advanced photography, like landscapes with unique DOF, night shoots etc….thanks for another great show….
Great show as always guys, I love the info. Every little bit I get just helps for the final photo takes.thanks and keep it coming. THX 4 L@@KING
Great show as always guys. Keep the info coming. Every little bit of info all helps with the final photo taken. Have a great Day. THX 4 L@@KING
great show! keep it up! more support for photography!
Great show again. Love the bears tip but I think I will still stay miles away from Bears… lol
I really think that it would be great to see some indepth tips on Product photography and maybe in the other direction a Night shoot in aremote location. Both of thoes are very near and dear to my heart. Great show guys,.. and Moose I will leave the Bear play to you!
Interesting show..
the d700 and d300 both have up to 9 frame bracketing
Great show!
Good to hear from Moose!
As alway, great tips. Thanks guys.
nice show!
Great tips from Moose. One thing.Your show is waaay to short.
Great Show!!!
I just got a Ranger Quatra a show from the pros about this unit would be great
Love the U1/U2 bracketing idea. Thanks.
Great show as always
I said that a couple of times, but i just love your relaxed way of presenting the show
see ya
Good job guys… Is it me or the shows are getting shorter?
way too short.
wonderful
great show
gettyimages.com/music is not coming up with getty but if one copies and paste it it does
Not sure if I trust Moose’s suggestion to not be afraid of any wild animal just because you know typical behavior. Think of the movie Grizzly Man. He thought he knew bears pretty well.
Good info on the music rights.
For a future show, go outside of your warm Florida weather zone and give tips for shooting in the cold weather. Gear, accessories, general tips.
great show guys! moooooossssseeeeee!!! you rock!!!!!!
Show 94 is fantastic. It is going to come up to show 100 soon. I would suggest “very low light photography” as a theme! Great job Scott, RC and Larry.
Good Show
What about shooting the stars?? Good show.
Great show. Would like to see more Moose.
My site sucks, so I want your book RC.
Great show.
So it’s okay to let grizzly cubs play with my equipment? Cool!
Seriously, another great show, guys. Thanks.
Good tip about setting up special menu, now if only the manual would give a simply instruction on how to do it!
Good show guys.
The link for the Getty Images redirects to another website not Getty Images. Just a FYI.
This show seemed quite a bit shorter than the others. How about extending future shows to include more content.
Look forward to each episode!
Just wondered Tony, where your family comes from? My granddad came out of Mount Eagle Tenn to Houston around 1919 or so. Never know when I’ll meet a lost cousin. I doubt that Oscar Goodman, former mayor of Las Vegas, is related to me, but I’m the 3rd generation with Oscar as a middle name. I now live in Hawaii, where are you from? If it’s none of my biz, fine. aloha, Jock Goodman
jockg@hawaii.rr.com
Great show! I´d like to se more of Moose´s mustasche!
Björn
Hey saw your episode 95 and thought it was great! Was wondering if you guys could do a review of some of the third party flashes out there and maybe some of the new TTl triggers that are third party that have just hit the market like Pixel king ! for example.
Cheers!
Earnest H. Dillard II
You really just saved alot of fotog’s real problems with the music info, we all thank you!
Great show guys. See you next week.
Thank you for the info for the musice web sites.
Loved the advice about the music.
Love the bear tips Moose! I would like to see more tips on camera settings just like Larry did today.
Good show. Always goodvto hear from Moose.
RC, you can see that I don’t have a website, I NEED your book!
Good tips about bears. Also thought the tips on camera settings was excellent. How about an episode or a few tips on macro photography.
Good show.
Can you talk about what you can do with images of people that you did not get a photo release from like in street photography. Can you sell pictures of people in any way that you do not have a release from?
Always great info thanks.
thanks for the information on adding music to slide shows.I will make good use from that knowledge’
I won the contest the week you were giving away the “Chasing the Light” book by Ibarionex Perello. It arrived just before I watched today’s show. You were right, it is beautiful! I’m off to read it.
Thanks
Bernie Doran
I like seeing Camera Tips as well as lighting tips, they’re really the bread and butter right?
Tips I can use that don’t require a certain lens or particular light are really helpful. Probably because I’m still fairly new at this.
Thanks for another great Episode!
Good show, just too short!
Great show- getting shorter? Great info on music copyright- I’ve shied away from any music on slideshows for that reason. Suggesting for very low-light work. I’m a church photographer, started with (24-70 f/2.8 & 70-200 f/2.8 Vr)- D300, now with D3s .
Brilliant, the information on how to avoid a bear attack will be more than useful in Liverpool in England…!
Thanks for all the great tips.
Nice show guys…would love to own RC’s book on getting my images into a web site (other than Flickr). Keep up the good work! – Pat.
Hey, what about highlighting some Flickr web sites out there? How about this one:

Re Moose’s critter tips….
Can we have a Kelby Training video on the ACTUAL warning signs of various critters. This would help a whole lot of people, not just photographers, on when to take a hike in the opposite directions. Bet you could sell it to National Geo readers. Other tips might include are all bears warning signs alike? In Los Angeles I have been next to deer, coyotes, mountain lions, and wolves (“that’s not a German Sheppard”) on the streets.
Do more Moose. More wildlife photography segments. Photographing birds!!!
Very insightful on the music.
Larry, The bracketing tip is actually cool…!!! Thank you.
Great show.
Consider doing a segment on monitor calibration using xrite gear. Preferably o Mac
Thanks
Thanks for the show.
Like to hear some more on the equipment…such as differences in PPI and accompanying resolution and how it effects your output product. Pros and Cons of different lenses (Zoom, Fixed, F-stop). Differences on APS sensors (Nikon and Sony bigger size vs Canon smaller size). Any other tips, tricks or workarounds for hard to shoot shots.
Great show as usual we appreciate your time.
I like beer! I have no web site pick me!
Great show once again!!
i love the tips
Thanks again? great show!
Just interesting about some special photography technic, like time lapse, astrophotography, light painting, IR photography.
Great show. What happened to the grip tips?
Thanks. I appreciated the bracketing tip.
I am a photography hobbyist who’s primary subjects are vacation photography and family occasions, (and recently more occasionally something that just looks “interesting”… thanks for the inspiration!). I have decent camera (Panasonic Lumix), which is NOT a DSLR, but is about as close to being one without crossing the line as you can come. It’s pretty good, but it’s not a “fast” camera.
I am looking to upgrade, but am confused as to Nikon/Canon, and also sensor size. Smaller sensors are cheaper but I get the impression from your show that bigger is better. It’s also WAY more expensive for bodies and lenses!
Perhaps a “how to buy a camera” show?
Thanks! And keep up the great work!
Once again, thank you very much, guys!!!
Enjoyed the show, Plenty of good information. Nice seeing Moose Peterson with Tip. I can never get enough of settings and learning to take better pictures. I use kelby Training for Learning programs like lightroom and photoshop.
Rich Ramirez
very nice show
another great show.
Great show. How about some off camera flash stuff?
Hi Guys,
Love the show, but would be great to see some clips where you review some of the new gear that is being announced. Things such as the new 1D X just as an example.
Thanks
Phil.
Love your show.
Liked the tip from Moose. When photographing animals I move out when they make eye contact with me.
Good show as always
Great info on bears from Moose
Good Episode. Don’t think I would wait for the Grizzly to foam at the mouth.
Great show
good show.
Good tips from Moose Peterson thanks.
Nice show. Like the Moose segment. Also the bracketing info.
Thanks for show guys.
Great show guys, I would love to see more equipment reviews on the show. Thanks
Now I need a camera with about 10 different “custom setting” buttons. Thanks for the great bracket tip!!!!
Good job… now need to look for some bears.
Sorry RC, but your advice about copyright is WRONG. The licenses provided by ASCAP, BMI, etc. are *not* suitable for applications where musical works are synchronized with visuals (as in a video or timed slideshow). These uses require “sync licenses” – they used to be handled by the Harry Fox Agency, but now are obtained directly from the record label who owns the *recording* of the work, and tend to cost significantly more than ASCAP and BMI licenses – which give you no rights whatsoever to sync a work.
Great episode love the piece by mouse on how not to get eaten by a Grizzly
Awesome bracketing tip Larry!! Love the show guys!! RC, it was great to see you at the photoplus expo.
Great show as always! I saw some people asking for tips on printing, and I second that! Especially on color-profiles. I have some epson-paper that I would like to use on my canon-printer but I can’t find profiles for that combo. What to do?
Nice tip on HDR bracketing. Too bad my T3i doesn’t allow for custom settings, sigh. On a positive HDR note, RC, your book has helped me get a bit better at it. Thanks!
DBMiller
Hi
great tip about using U1/U2 on the D7000 for shooting more than 3 brackets
Do you have tips for available light photography ( for example shooting at dim lighted dace floor) ?
Thanks
Love the 15 minute format….20 was getting too long for work. 15 is a coffee break!
Great show as always!
Your bit, last week, on “Painting with Light” was fascinating but I think that some of the simpler tricks can be done much easier in Photoshop, as follows:
1. open an image
2. Cteate a new layer on top of the image and fill it with black
3. Change the blend mode to Multiply.
4. Change the foreground color to white and select an appropriate brush.
5. Where you paint on the black layer the underlying image will appear. .
6. If you make a mistake change the foreground color to black and repaint.
You can temporarily lower the opacity of the black layer to see what you are painting. You can also pick any foreground color and give what you reveal a tint.
I think you can get some interesting results with this technique.
as always a great show… love the inspiration I leave with!
Great show! Love the wilderness tip by Moose!
great tip for the D7000…… thanks Larry!
hey guys. Any tips on how to keep the numerous batteries you take on a holiday in order? Simple gadgets to keep your batteries in groups of four, which ones are used/charged, etc.
ps. Big fan of the show!
Hey guys:
Loved the show as usual. Some great information I look forward to every week.
2 comments:
1 – PLEASE!!!!! turn down the volume on the WACOM commercial. It;s REALLY loud.
2 – Show suggestion: Please do a segment on shooting video with the D3s. It’s a different beast than the D7000 and the Canon 5D. Depending on whether you shoot in the “hand held” or “tripod” mode, you get very different results.
One particular problem with the video is that it is very jerky when shooting HS football…probably due to the lights flickering at 60 Hz. I really hate that. Can I eliminate that by shooting with different settings.
Tha
great show
Thanks!
Great show, would like to see more on start to finish projects from pushing the button to post processing.
Another great show guys, keep up the good work.
Please do some more reviews and comparisons of cameras.
Thanks. More on wildlife photography please.
Thanks for the show, guys!
So…you’ll notice I don’t have a website. And that’s a bad thing. Because even though I’m a good photographer, I’m not taken seriously because I don’t have a website yet! And why don’t I? Because I’m not the savviest technical person, I’m ignorant, and I don’t know how! RC’s book could be the ticket to a fruitful future…
In other words, I could sure use your help, RC. : )
See you next week!
Here’s another wildlife danger tip. When you go to Yellowstone and are shooting animals and notice a Moose with a gray moustashe, the first clue you will get is him staring at you. If you continue to step on twigs or cough and he GLARES at you, it’s time to pack it in. I wouldn’t want a 220 pound Moose trampling over me.
Seriously though folks, I already have RC’s book so don’t count me in for the prize. Nice tips, but again, a bit abbreviated. I will echo the request for night shooting, long exposures, Radio triggers, and unknown “secret” menu tips like Larry’s brilliant idea. alohadios, Jock
Another good show.
Ill be honest I just want a copy of this book.
Very cool again thanks guys
Cracker Whaaaaat!? You really cannot use any music you want on your OWN website (even if you are not selling anything). That cheese!
Good info to know and will definitely check out those two sites to see what the deal is.
Thanks you Larry and RC! RC, i want you book!
Great Tips
Thanks
Jörg
Hi there guys,
Great show as usual.
What are your thoughts on the Wacom Pen Tablets? I see RC using one at times that looks like the Intuos4.
Thanks.
I would like to see more tips or information on HDR photography. Thanks!
Yet another great show, Larry and RC! I look forward to every new episode, and dread every break.
Thanks for all the useful info.
Hi Guys,
Great info this week! I liked the info on User settings for HDR. I have mine set up for just the first set of brackets … never thought to use it for intermediate settings EV! Nice! Thanks Larry!
Dennis
Good show but short. I drive a lot for work and need more to fill the time. Maybe you guys could answer viewer questions like Scott and RC did on the grid. Or maybe RC could give us lighting diagrams and behind the scenes stuff for all the photo of Sabine.
Wait, I don’t drive that much:-) (don’t worry RC, I have 3 kids and the sickness only gets worse.)
Thanks guys
Floof and run
Another great show, There is always something on the show that helps to inspire. Thanks.
Great show, and great book RC!
Always good stuff
Great show again… Thanks guys!
Great tip on ASCAP/BMI, as far as it goes, but those organizations only license public performance of the compositions. Website use of commercially available music may also require a license to use the composition in timed relation to your photos (a synch license, obtained from the music publisher) and a license to use a particular recording of the composition (a master use license, obtained from the record company). Unfortunately, there’s no one-stop shopping unless you use royalty-free music.
Love the show. I already have your book RC and because of it, I now have a blog/website. Great book RC. Thanks!
Each time a winner and worth my time watching. Thank you.
loved your titps
Great show… i want to know more about setting up the camera ‘s user settings i’m new to dslr shooting?
good show and i would like you guys to talk more about new equipment
Excellent show as always!
Great show guys..
Larry,
Timely tip on the D7000 and HDR settings. I just ordered my D7000 and I love to do HDR. I knew that the camera only had 3 exposure BKT and searched for a solution to get more exposures without going to Manual Mode and found the same solution that you showed with U1 and U2. However, there are no “normal” exposures with that technique so I thought that why not use an Aperture Priority setting in the middle of U1 & 2 to capture yet another exposure?
Thanks for all you tips .
Great tips! Thanks.
kupo
Thanks for the tips guys- great show as usual!
1) Does anyone view this comment area after (203 days) it is posted?
2) Is it at all possible for “RC” to improve his physical appearance?
He always seems to be in need of a shave; needs to update his shirt on camera; and trim his moustash a bit.
I am a firm believer (as I think many of the viewing public does) that any viewing personality should be neat; and well groomed!
Let me know if I am wrong.
many thnaks.

Photos By Fine
Awesome show! It’s full of truly useful ideas. Thanks!
Loved Moose’s grizzly tip this week! Thanks
I especially liked Larrys comments-I will try the tip on my camera.
Thanks
Great show guys!
RC’s book seems good
You guys rock!!!
Another great show! Saw a couple comments about asking more information about HDR. I shoot some HDR when doing tricky landscapes during the magic hour. Can you show the best technique for shooting magic hour nature/landscape HDR either manual or aperture priority mode? Also, anybody try shooting HDR with strobes?
a new book for my photo library would be nice.thanks
For the past three weeks I am not able to play the media file D-town TV. I have tried in itunes and my android with the same results
Podcast 91 was the last one I can view.
Thanks
Jim
hi guys!
More Moose’s critter tips!
Looooved this show! RC showed me the HDR shot of the bar while waiting in line to register at Photoshop World. It is gorgeous. Also, I have never seen a demo of the ring flash so good as the one broadcast today. Keep up the good work. You guys are great!
I can’t believe I did not know about DTown TV, now I am hooked. Thanks for putting up a show like this.
More camera tips please. Also I would like tips on High key still life photography of flowers.
Thanks guys!
Great show. I could use that book on websites.
Great tips. How about your thoughts on time lapse photography. Thanks.
Great tips as usual. Green screen would be an interesting topic.
Great info about the music!
A comment
Is the contest thing still open? Can I still win the book. Get Moose to give us tips on more animals.
As usual, great show.
great show keep it up
I would love to see a show that discusses the ins and outs of backing up your images. Maybe something about using Drobo’s vs. External Hard Drives. Good practices. Whether you can work from them instead of the computers native hard drive.
Any chance of an Audio ONLY version of DTOWN, like you do for the grid?
thanks
Another great show, thanks.
Great show guys.
Do a segment on modding your cameras firmware
Great show, need some new adverts, I’ve seen all the training being plugged
I love shooting HDR photos and appreciate your tip on expanding the exposure range by utilizing the “User Settings” of my D-300
I just wanted to give a little tip I use to try and keep your camera clean. When I have a lens on my camera, I get the camera cap and the lens back cap and screw them together. It keeps most of the dust out of the caps so I don’t have to do a deep cleaning of the caps before I place them on my camera and lens.
The music tip was very helpful, Thanks!
Hi, I have seen almost all the shows and I like them very much. But, I live in Sweden and my english is rather good but I think all you guys talkes way too FAST. It´s difficult to understand everything sometimes. I would be very happy if you could slow down a bit, if possible. Many thanks from Sweden.
Hi guys. Love your shows but yor are talking too FAST, all of you. I know that´s very common in USA but if you see the shows from ex Europe, it can be a bit tricky. Love you anywhay!:o)
Great show!!!
Great tips RC
More in camera settings that simplify common processes.
I’d like to have you talk a bit more on flash photography
thanks again for the tips and education about the bears.
These lessons are great! I love all the tips you are giving! Each of your program makes me want to listen to you more and more! I could listen to you all day long! I so want to get the book ‘get your photography on the web’ I believe I will win it!!
Great tip from Larry building on the great tip from RC. I think I’m going to save a bunch of shooting modes on an old small SD card.
Thanks again guys…
hi guys great show again. can the bracketing tip be done on a D90 if so how. I cant find it . it could be me just being bumd . hope not.
Hi there.
Great Show
