Good show guys… Nice talking about focus…
great show
And I thought I had bought a jar opener. If people ask what the red thing is for, tell them its a low light aiming device.
Always a great show. One comment, when you were talking about the “A- S-C” you stated look in the menu. I believe on the D90 it is accessed through the top window selecting the AF button and then toggling the rear wheel.
I really love your show as it hdelps beginners as well as seasoned Photographers. I would be considered an advanced Amature.
Thanks.
phil
Great tips on auto focusing.
Another great show as always.
Cool tip about the LED clip on light.
Great show guys! Thanks!
Hi Larry & RC, great show. I love the tips about the focus point setting. Using the focus pooints where you want the focus to be helps alot. It can really make a difference when you want a area out of fucus. You guys have a great day and THX 4 L@@KING
RC & Larry,
Great show as ususal. Would it be possible for you guys to show a close up of the back of the camera when you are going through the menus. Or show us the inside of the camera as you change the focusing points and settings. The visual would make it easier for us to see what you are talking about. Thanks.
How come this site is identified as an “Attack Site” by Google?
Good stuff this week!
Thanks guys.
Great show! Hope you have a lot of cheapshots!
Google is blocking access to this site, calling it a reported attack site. Hope you’re not!
Great tips. Joey Wright’s tips for shooting in the dark were great. Love Larry’s jar opener tip.
Great show guys. Can you all give us some suggestions on different tripods? I like the pocket size one that RC uses on the show, what make is it? Thanks.
Another great show, thanks!
Some advanced topics once in a while would not be a bad idea…
great show.. thanks of the tips
Do camera straps. I’m looking for a new strap and there are thousands out there….something that un-clips when I have it on a tripod. Thanks! Lee
@Lee Calkins- Best camera shoulder strap is the UPstap, they make them with quick release. Also you can look into blackrapid, they have a sling type strap that goes across body. I use the UPstap w/o quick release.
excellent tips
Brilliant show guys!Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much, all your tips are great, Joey Wright give me exactly the tip i was looking for, it was perfect, great show guys
great show!
Good show like always.
Another great show.
RC stop making us jealous by having that mini tripod on the show each week. How about that for a Dtown prize.
Another information loaded show. Thanks Joey Wright for those night shooting tips and R.C. for those focusing tips.
Thanks for Joey’s tips! I also use a headlamp for this as well.
Great show as always guys. Thanks for all the wonderful tips…. and tricks.
RC your tip about single point focus is a good one although you failed to mention what you would do with a moving subject.
Great show as always! Thanks guys! Would love to read Light it Shoot it Retouch it
Larry, RC;
Great show!
Could you talk about white balance for different light conditions?
Thanks.
A suggstion; I think you should get Pete Collins or another Canon shooter to put in some detail for items like today’s focus points.
A request; as mentioned above, an item or two on tripods. A couple of weeks ago Larry mentioned his Gorillapod, and we keep seeing RC’s mini tripod. How about the pros and cons of these and something on what should be looked for in an entry level bigger tripod?
awesome show.
more on focus!
Nice one guys, thanks for the tips.
Great Show but I really need the book because my lighting sucks.
Another excellent program. Thank you very much!
Good tip about auto focus and focus points. I find a lot of people new to photography struggle because they don’t know what the camera is focusing on and wonder why auto focus is letting them down. I most often use the centre point and single focus and recompose quickly. It works for me because it is similar to how I learned with a manual focus film slr. Even for aviation photos I find it more reliable and quicker than the continuous focus on my particular camera but you do have to work at it.
looking forward to scott stopping by for his tour.
thanks for the show.
Good show guys. Turning out to be another great season from DTown!
Great show. I’d like to win the book. Thanks
Great tip on the LED light. I bet if you get 6 of them it would make a nice ring light for under $50. Ordered mine today, here is the link to the Bass Pro Shops http://www.basspro.com/Cyclops-Micro-Hat-Clip-Light/product/10224374/83328
Loved the tip on the LED light clipped to your lens hood. Thanks.
Great show.
RC is really getting into da habit. I noticed that shoulder start to roll as you got ready to focus
Great show guys.
Cool tip on using mini LED lights to help with focus in low light, and seeing your gear.
Good cheap shots tip on a focus ring for video…Now Larry, see if you can find a cheap way to make a hood loupe (ala Hoodman) as a focusing aid.
Bravo bravo
Great show guys. Larry, great cheap tip. I’m on my way to BB&B
Thanks for thr focus tips I needed that.
The show is amazing. If only you guys could stretch it to around 30-45 minutes.
Like the tips this week.
Longer programs . . . PLEASE.
RC, (or whoever knows the answer), D90 cameras have an AF-A setting in addition to AF-S and AF-C — think it’s a hybrid of the two. I’d really like to know the pros and cons of using AF-A versus AF-S and AF-C. Thanks!
loved the show
Fantastic show, once again!
I loved the tip from Joey Wright for the LED light on the lens hood. Awesome!
Hi guys, one things that would be nice is to show us a complete workflow procedure from taking the picture (framing, lighting, etc), showing us the raw image and then edit the image to show us the typical quality of image to expect from RAW images.
Thanks guys for the good show.
Great tips on focusing in the dark!

Great show.
Focus points – good info for a noob
Another set of great tips.
I have noticed over the past weeks (this one not included) that there have been many uses of iPad tips for helping to control and make decisions on settings. What about us w/o the latest iPad devices? If you tip is where to find the non-iPad solution can be found, that is ok.
Keep up the great work.

Loved you show like the led light solution..
Thanks, always good tips and ideas.
This show was good on tips both of which I’ll try
Good tips about the clip on lights. Good tips for those who didn’t read their manual about focus points. Wouldn’t mind seeing a segment on Canon Vs. Nikon pros and cons of each. i.e. sensor types, size and resolution . Anything better for one type of photo as opposed to another? Printing and what type of printer is better for photos? What kind of printer do you guys use?
Looking forward to Scott’s seminar!
Love Cheap Shots! Keep ‘em coming!
Also, thanks for the photog’s link, Night to Day. Very creative stuff…

Great show.
Very useful tips!
Great show folks
Good show.
Thanks for the tips!
I have recently signed onto Kelby Training and can say unequivicolly that one truly gets bang for buck in terms of value of the training modules. I hesitated with an individual by name of Calvin Hollywood but found him to be my absolute favourite.
And thanks to both of you for yet another excellent D-town episode.
Another great show. I think you should have more women on the show…
good show
thanks
Interesting show. Macro show would be interesting.
Something you might like to cover:
One of the most useful ‘plugins’ I’ve been using for a few years now is from ControlledVocabulary.com. It’s a structured keyword list, that helps massively with adding the wider categories when you’re tagging your photos, fo instance swimming will be found within recreation…
It works slightly better within Lightroom than Bridge, and the only downside is the pollution of your list when you bring in photos with unstructured tagging to follow a class, as they then splurge al over your list.
There is another downside for me as a European – it’s very much an American vocabulary, lacking the words to classify older buildings, but one adds one’s own structured tags over time.
It cost me under $100, and I think it was money well spent
Awesome night shooting tip from Joey Wright!!
Great tip from Larry and RC. Next time more tip on using ND and GND filters.
More power!
Great show as always. Thanks.
Great tips on dlsr video.
Joey Wright tip about the visor LED mounted on your lens was great. Very practical and easy to do. If you have ever tried to focus on something in the dark or low light it will drive you crazy. I don’t know how it cost but I am going to get one. I also llike LED light strip. Thanks Joey and the rest of y’all.
Cheers,
John
Great Show with grip tips, cheap shot and focas point tips by RC…Thanks
Thanks for the words of wisdom guys.
Jay
One thing to remember about sandbags and travel, besides weight, you might get your “filled” sandbags confiscated by US Customs since you cannot import soil.
Since RC brought up suggestions, I’d like to make one.
Could RC have a section on iPad photo apps? There seem to be a lot of them to choose from and I thought RC could share some of his favorites.
You could even call it something like RC’s Fave’s. Ok, maybe not the best name.
Great show, as always. Would love to see something on tripods. Specifically for a serious amateur, as in, not too expensive. Thanks!
Great show! The best free show on photography available!
Great show guys, as always.
RC: can you give me more details about the table top tripod you showed a few episodes ago?
Thanks!
Marcelo
Great stuff as always.
Great show as always
Hi guys,

Thanks guys!
Good info, like always. Thanks guys!
Hi
Really lighting things up
Noel
Great show, Thanks!
Great show and info. Thanks!!
Great show. Thanks Guys
You guys rock.
How about a show on High Speed flash sync for Nikon users (D7000 & similar) …
What day is the show published for viewing? Could you guys do a segment on fine tuning the auto-focus for those of us who wear glasses and have adjusted the bioptic on the camera. Shooting wide open at f 1.8 causes a soft focus. I need to get that sharp tack focus. I own a Nikon D300s. By the way, I am delighted at the content presented in each segment. Thanks for all that you do!
Great show as always.
Another very exciting episode.
OK…gotta go buy one of those can openers…great tip!
Nice can lid opener.
Good tips as always!

Awesome stuff guys
Another great show.
Thanks for another great show! I love cheap shots and tips from Joey Wright. Also I would like to know more about concert photography.
Loved the great practical tips.
I want the book.
Suggestion: a show on close up photography.
Great show guys, keeps getting better and better!
Great Show, glad to see grip tips is back
RC, good explanation on setting focus points. I would like to see more tips like this on camera settings. What settings to use and why. Always learn something new from grip tips. Great show! Thanks.
Late watching this! Some great tips this week, especially the clip-on light and the focus point ones. The little D50 rocks. My first DSLR and it’s still going strong, although my son shoots with it now.
–John
Light me, shoot me, retouch me.
Great show guys — and thanks for covering the basics as well as advanced stuff. I had my DSLR for quite a while before I figured out some of the focus options. Never stop learning!
Nice episode, guys! Been following the show since the beginning and I love it! Looking forward for the next episode.
The D50 was my first DSLR. Nice to see it again..
Great show!!
How about some tips on using a polarizing filter. What are we looking for when using this polarizing filter. A bluer sky. A dark window. Or what. Thanks.
Great show. More on light stands, booms etc. What to look for in a good light stand etc.
nice to see “grip tips” is back

Thanks.
Keep it coming!!!!!!
Great show!
You guys both look and sound fantastic on DTown on my AppleTV!
Keep the great tips, coming, please!
Great show!
Enjoyed the show . You two make a great team.
Especially liked this weeks tip about turning off noise reduction
Hi guys, good show as always. I’ve got one addition regarding the autofocus tips: The ability to select a focuspoint and/or focus mode (continous/single AF) may depend on the shooting mode you’re in. If you’re in PASM on a Nikon or PTvAvM on a Canon, you’re good. If you’re in full Auto or some sort of “scene mode”, you might be restricted in what you can set.
I apologize, If you already included that in the show and I just missed that part, but I thought this might be good to know; especially since this tip mostly applies to the more novice users of DLSRs, who are more likely to use the more automated operating modes of their cameras.
Greetins from Germany.
Great show , great tips guys – jimmy
Great show guys!
I would like to add to Bard’s tip on light stands and sand bags. We buy in Walmart BB gun ammo, and it works great in those bags to keep the stand still.
