  4. Fe says:

  8. Brian Metcalf says:

Amazing show! Still my very favorite thing on the Internet of all (Internet!) time! One quick tip I’d like see you cover is some specific suggestions for setting aperture for depth of field. For example, for a typical portrait or shot of a few people within a few feet of each other in distance from the camera, what’s a good F stop to keep them in perfect focus, but also get some good blur for the background? Same for shooting closeups of flowers and stuff with a non-macro lenses.

  9. Tom P Zachman Jr says:

Well guys, another great season in the can. Thanks for all the fun and info.

Next season I’d like to see more guest spots from specialist, like: Joe on lighting, Trey doing HDR, Dave at a wedding, ….. You know where I’m coming from, just a little more on technique.

I belong to Kelby Training, and that’s great. This would be more of that extra kicker that we’re all looking for.

See ya’ll in a month, be safe!

    tom

Great show as usual. I would like additional discussion or ideas about shooting indoor sports without flash. Have learned a lot from Dtown. Keep it up.

  21. Peter says:

I’m looking forward to the next season.

Couldn’t it be interesting to talk a little about buying used camera gear? What to look for and what to avoid? I’ve bought a few old prime lens (non AF) that I believe is very good value for money. Sharp, small, light…
Which brings me to another interesting topic: custom focusing screens. The ones with micro prisms like in the days before AF. Perfect in combination with old lenses or situations where the AF-magic doesn’t seem to work.

  22. Wayne D. says:

Great show. see you next month!

    • Matt C. says:

Thanks for the great season guys, you rocked it out of the park. For new episodes how about RC do more on his HDR processing like Scott did for his down & dirtry tutorial; more on presets for LR, post processing tips & shortcuts, flash photography, using a light meter, using an utlrawide zoom lens to create foregound interest and portrait photography just to name a few. And thanks for helping me from making the biggest mistake of my life…I was actually considering the X100, but I think I’ll pass for now. Hope you see you guys again in 4 weeks. Take care.

  23. Dustin says:

    - recommended hardware combinations of lenses/extensions for macro shooting

    - best tips on flash settings, eg, when to use rear sync, slow, etc.

Hi guys, always a great show. What I want to see next season? MORE! Your episodes fly by so fast, I’d love to see another 10 minutes added to the episodes. That’s all.
    And I’ll add, don’t draw me. I can’t make PSW this year. (Although Matt’s book…..) :-D

  31. John Content says:

    Great show.
Can you show how I can make professional looking shots from the new X100 camera?

  32. Another solid show. I particularly liked Larry’s reflection tip; I’ll use that one or a variation soon.

    Suggestions:

Practical demonstration of the difference between hard and soft lighting, how you get each, and when you might use each.

Following up on SKelby’s blog post, how to see and compose an interesting subject. (The hard stuff 8-) ) Again showing practical examples.

A technical request: Please arrange it so that I can adjust the volume during the pre- and post-show commercials. I’m fine with you running them, but the volume is so loud that I’ve started leaving the earphones off or the speakers shut off during the them because I can’t adjust at all any more. (Using Chrome, because I can no longer get the shows on IE8 (for reasons unknown) — the website shows up but the show doesn’t ever appear.

  33. Pascal Desmet says:

  49. redhed17 says:

Good show today chaps. The last few shows have been much improved.

I’d like to see the basics covered

    Focus
    Exposure
Camera Modes, Aperture, Shutter, Program, Auto and Manual
    White Balance
    Exposure Compensation
    Composition

Guide to lenses, focal lengths and their effects. (and not just the expensive lenses ;-) )

Slightly more advance with tips on RAW and tips on using of Flash, on board and supplementary Flash, both Speedlites and Studio Flash.

I can’t think of anything else at the moment. ;-)

I know some, if not all of that has been covered before, but not everyone will have seen all the episodes, and a mix of basic and advanced should keep most people satisfied.

Can I just say that whatever tip you do, please show example images when appropriate. You can describe something as till you’re blue in the face, but sometimes a demonstration image will make the subject easier to comprehend.

I thought the camera was the prize this week, seeing as it suddenly appeared on the table at the end. ;-) lol

Hope to see you both again in four weeks. The previous holiday returns have sometimes not been very punctual though. ;-)

And if there are delays when returning, a message on the front page would be nice to keep viewers up to date on what’s going on and the changes to the schedule. :-)

    Thanks!!
    GQ

  74. Darrell says:

Love the idea of having up coming instructors for KT give tips like you used to have. Maybe include tips from books recently released.

    See ya next season.

  108. Johnnie Abbott says:

    An idea for next season:

Use a segment in each episode to fully explain how to get the most out of your speedlights. It may take several episodes to cover each tip. This will keep everyone tuning in each week to build on what was discussed on the previous episode. By the end of the season, the viewers would understand how to get the most out of their speedlights.

Thanks for teaching, its great stuff !

What would I like to see in future episodes? I’d like to see RC not saying “at the end of the day” so much. I’m joking of course, you guys rock! But RC, it does seem like you use that phrase every time I see you, whether on DTown, The Grid, or elsewhere. In all seriousness, I wouldn’t mind seeing more tips from various big name photographers.

  118. David Thorpe says:

Hey guys, great job as always.
The thing I would most like to see in upcoming episodes is advice on how to get to a place where an advanced amateur can make some income from photography. This episode’s segment on how to get in the door by photographing the place you want to do business with is exactly what I’m talking about. For someone who has the skills but doesn’t have a client base, what are things that will get that person started. This is what will help me the most. Thanks again for an incredibly helpful free show.

  119. Greg Snider says:

Good to see Scott and a neat Photoshop technique.
I’d love to see an episode or two on doing urban shooting – similar to the Jay Meisel (sp?) work that Scott had on the training site. How to set up the camera, what lens(s) to use, post processing, etc.
Another topic would be a little more on HDR but covering more of the post with Photoshop to add on to what was done in RC’s book.
Lastly, I noticed that RC was using a graphic tablet during his webcast with Matt on HDR and I don’t recall any episodes covering the use of these tablets and how they might improve the Photoshop process, etc. So, let’s do a session on graphic tablets – what to look for in features, size, etc. for use with Lightroom and Photoshop.

  120. Luis Sales says:

Thanks for a great season guys.

What about considering more “on location” practical tips… How to shoot normal day to day situations on the street, air show, fair, family… From settings to how to “see” the light…

Thanks to all who make possible the show! Looking forward to the next, always better, season!

    Cheers!

  121. Orloff Sims says:

  126. Jason says:

  129. John Richardson says:

Great season!! I wanna win something, but not the Fuji X-100, I mean, even if it were free. It would suck even worse if I got it as a present for Xmas and I was supposed to have a Happy Face when I opened it… ohh that is scary. Good thing we don’t have christmas in Ukraine! ;-)

    See you next season!

  130. Bill Guy says:

    Great shows,

How about a show on using shutter speed to control flash photography.

  131. Tony says:

Great show. Love DTOWN! I have a D300 with the MBD10 battery pack that stays on the camera all the time. I have been wanting to get an L-Bracket for it but have been having a time trying to figure which one I need to get. Is each L-bracket specific to the tripod/ballhead of that particular manufacturer or do they make one that will fit various manufacturer’s ballheads? I own a Benro tripod and ballhead, but don’t think they make an L-bracket. At least I haven’t seen one. Is there an L-bracket I can buy that will work with my D300/MBD10 and my Benro tripod? or will I have to invest in a better name brand tripod and head in order to take advantage of an L-bracket? Would like to see some tips on this in the future.

  154. Matt C. says:

For some reason my comment got posted under another uses as a reply so here it goes again: Thanks for the great season guys, you rocked it out of the park. 206. Ray Andrews says:

It would be nice to see a nice basic analytical (no fanboy battle) comparison of differences between a high end Canon, and a comparable high end Nikon. It’s hard to get a good idea online without a brand zealot battle breaking out.

Take us through a shoot from start to finish such as an outdoor protrait, sports or wildlife and include everything such as: metering, ISO, f-stop, shutter speed, auto focus mode etc… for the particular camera/lens you are using. Maybe Moose could jump in on the wildlife version?

    Thanks again guys!

    Dennis

  223. Marcel Kurvers says:

    Hi there,

You asked: “What would I like to see next season?”

Well, everybody is back from holiday and has terrible pictures. Let’s be honest! You don’t carry you’re full equipement all the time. You have a DSLR and maybe a 18-200 lens. That’s it foor most of the time, unless you want your wife and kids to be dislocating your shoulder when you have stopped again at a nice shoot location.

The pictures I take are okay but can do a lot better. How? I learned some great stuf at DTown, but walking around Sienna in Italy with several thousand other photographers is a challenge.

So! Can you show, what you can do, walking around a village at dawn, high noon, at diner and late in the evening, with a limited amount of gear (just your DSLR and a nice lens!) No fancy stuff is allowed. Just call it: The no fancy stuff walkabout. Just like what you’re organizing every year but now with wife and kids on your back. Get the picture ;-)

See ya and keep up the good work.

    Marcel

  224. Kris Olsen says:

  229. Lars hansen says:

And also something about long shutter speed Would be nice
Looking forward to the new season

  230. Another great show guys!
I’d like to see a discussion on mounting and framing images for sale or exhibits.

  231. Debraj Saha says:

I would like you also demonstrate Camera function or concepts with actual shots..If you are recommending something please demonstrate with actual shots…

  232. Arthur Bresse says:

  240. Kevin McGrath says:

great show can you show some stuff
    on hdr

    • TimR says:

Show a different modifier each week and how it is best used. i.e. grids, BD, BD with Grid, shoot through, reflective umbrella, small soft box, large soft box, ring light, etc. ala Zack Arias on creative live.

Heard Tony Corbell say his latest learning adventure is something a friend told him – use a softbox the size of the area you are shooting. Example a 18 inch for head shot, 28 inch for head and shoulders, 60 inch for full body.

Also said he had foam core reflectors pained different values of gray. So if a white reflector is too strong, instead of moving it back and changing the highlight/shadow mix, he puts in a light gray, or medium gray, depending on how much reflectance he wants.

  241. Mike E says:

Great season and now I will go into hibernation for 4 weeks! Thanks.

  242. jai parkash ahlawat says:

    Yes !

    Thanks ..

PS:I am enjoying your shows thoroughly …

  243. Tom Brown says:

The first season was great (and addictive) because DTown was so new. This past season was just as good as that one! You’ve earned some rest time.

    Going forward:

-> Digital photography is so complicated, how about getting your guests to list “My High Five” list of simple pointers on how to approach portraits, night photos, fill flash — whatever. You could also put the pointers (abbreviated) on a PDF via your site with promo/link for show – something we could pass on to friends and recruit new viewers for you.

-> Couldn’t some of your top photographers send in their #1 personal favorite photo which you could leave on the screen while, via a “D-Line” phone call, they tell us what was the #1 thing they learned by taking the photo (either in the imaging or processing stage)? We could study their work while they talk about it for a few minutes. The photog wouldn’t actually need to be in the studio for this, which could expand your guest list.

-> Lastly, photo books are darned expensive. Why not a real good-vs-bad review of a new book each week (like the movie critics do) so we know whether the cost is worth it? Other than the Kelby trainer’s books you already spotlight, this would open your book topics to include the many other photog-authors who publish works that might be worthy of our attention. And knowing what Larry and RC didn’t like about a book could be just as valuable as knowing what they liked.

Appreciate your asking for viewer input. But DTown is already the not-to-miss show for me, just the way it is! Have a good month away from the studio…

  244. Lars Johansson says:

    Great show guys.
For the next season I would like to see some tips on panos, and also the best way to show panos on the internet.

  245. Great season guys! How about some more HDR tips, and besides the post processing, which of course is key, tips on the capture of the bracketed images. And, how to train your eye to see what may be a great HDR image. See ya in 4. Peace.

  246. Doug says:

    Neet shado tip

  247. Bob Talarico says:

Another great season. Can you do a segment on posing or shot set up . Any tips to help the average guy taking pictures at a family event would be appreciated.

  248. Dennis says:

Great show guys. How about some more info on shooting with multiple speedlites?

  249. Fitz says:

    Great season.

  250. Jackie says:

You guys are awesome! I would love to see more on using an external Flash. I know that Sony is not a sponsor, but would you ever consider talking about Sony’s line of DSLRs? Thanks, love your show!

  251. Jesper G says:

Thank you for a great season.

In the next season I would like some tips on flash photography and radio triggers.

And also some tips on how to get rid of bokeh and how to get crystal clear images (how much noise should I accept etc.).

    Take care
    Jesper

  252. Nikki says:

You guys put on a great show with some quality tips. For future episodes I wouldn’t mind seeing more on portraits (eg. lighting tips, equipment suggestions/uses, posing). Thanks.

  253. Sam says:

Love the gear tips by Brad, also maybe more info on speed lights.

  254. Miriam Rosenthal says:

Lots of great suggestions already posted. I would like to see more on camera settings. And, I’m struggling with product shots of highly reflective objects. So, any help on lighting and diffusing the lights without having to buy $$$ softboxes would be most welcome.
    Thanks for all you share!

  255. Thomas Piepszak says:

Enjoy the show – for the future
1 please explain the relationship between
iso, aperature, shutter speed, ambient light ,flash – first/second curtain and the resultant shot– ie 2 yr old blowing out- spitting on cake at birthday party– and showing the people in the background.

    Thankd

  256. Ken Toney says:

Would love to see more flash instruction.

  257. Eddy says:

Would like to see more post processing. Saw this photographer named Calvin Hollywood. He does this really cool post processing. I think you had him before on the show. Having Calvin vs. Matt to battle on who does a better processing should be cool. Then RC vs. Calvin vs. Matt on HDR (I think RC will win this). Overall I like to see tips on post processing. Like you just mentioned, everyone does post processing now.

And more cheap shots! Larry Becker just saved me hundreds of dollars. How about an interactive show where you can get tips from other photogs who makes their own cheap shots? Like posting a video responses on YouTube or sending you guys videos of what other people did to save money, of course Larry Becker inspired cheap shots.

You guys helped a lot of photogs who wants to learn the art like myself! Thank you!!! :)

  258. Gustavo Osborne says:

    Great show as always, thanks!
How about tips for using the iPad for photography?
    Thanks.

  259. rudy finelli says:

  261. kyad says:

hi. me and my wife love to travel, take pictures of places and stuff. just for personal use, posting on social networks for friends to see, etc. my thing is i’m having a hard time taking good photos at night time or in a low light environment. i’m considering on buying a flash. any suggestions, tips (on choosing the right flash and how to use ‘em) ? i’m using a d90 with 18-105 3.5-5.6 (kitlens), i also have a 50 1.8.
    thanks a lot.

  262. Jay B. Barclay says:

Gone miss you guys. For next season how about talking about how to buy 2nd hand lines nd cameras?

  263. Kathy says:

Love the show. There have been so many great ideas left by everyone that I don’t have any to add. I do wish the show was longer though. How ’bout an extra 15 minutes? Can’t wait for the new season.

  264. bill zingraf says:

I’m always looking for HDR shooting tips.

  265. Kevin McGrath says:

    great show

  266. Sheylynne says:

I would love to see a tip on using the PC-E lenses that Nikon has. I have seen awesome pictures with them and I’m thinking about getting one but I hear they come with a learning curve. I also like how at the end of last season you guys gave us a little homework assignment and I would like to see more of those. It’s always good to have something to practice.

  267. HR says:

Awesome season guys! I would like to see more on shooting long exposures with digital SLR.

    Thanks,
    HR

  268. Roman says:

More on shooting, less gear, less postprocessing.
I loved Larry’s light tent tip.
    Thanks, Roman

  269. David Kelly says:

Has it come to the end of the season already??? Great show & season guys!

As for next season I’d like to see:

    - more guest tips from the like of Syl Arena & David Hobby. It was cool to see some new faces on the show.

    - more product / gears comparisions on the show, rather than showing single products in isolation.

    - more info on strobist flash for all photographers (not solely the Nikon CLS system, great as it is) i.e. trigger types, costs, set-up etc

I realise the current episode duration is limited so it would be great if the episode length could be increased too ;-) This would allow for more in depth discussions on some of the episode topics.

    Keep up the good work!

  270. Susie Kelley says:

Please keep up the good work. The show is great.

  271. I have some tips for next season:

    – add some columns to the show done by other people
    – a little less talk, or accompanied by a bit more hands-on tips/ demo’s
    – a bit more user intervention, such as weekly task/ challenge for watchers of the show (you show the top 5 next week. Prices not needed if you ask me).

Till next ‘season’ in about 4 weeks!

  272. ron Kindel says:

You could do a whole show on HDR. Shooting and processing. Also you compare the various looks possible using the various programs available. Good job!

  273. Jim says:

    Stealth shooting with your Fuji…eh?

A quick way to introduce Gaussian Blur…r….r!

  274. Steve Wetzel says:

once again great show. LOVED your tripod tip RC!

  275. Henry Lingat says:

Great Season Guys! How about some info on producing a great platinum image

  276. Francis Ang says:

What a great season guys. Have been getting my shutterbug friends to watch it evert chance they get.

Next season how about segregating the tips for commercial, landscape, wedding etc photography genres and have one small tip for say, 3 groups at a time? That way your show can appeal to even more people 100% of the time.

    See you in a month!

  277. thom says:

OMG I am going to have withdrawal till the new season starts. How about some info on flash photograhy

  278. Anmmar says:

    I love this show

  279. Gary Thurman says:

With all the chances of running into some “Bad Weather” situations, how about a short segment on foul-weather photography (and how to protect your camera and gear). Living in the great Pacific Northwest… this could be an awesome topic!

Thanks for all the hard work you all do to put D-Town together!

    -Gary-

  280. Hey guys, great show as usual. I would love to see some more specific “Do’s” and “Don’ts” of HDR. And maybe some stuff on black and white.

  281. Ron Weikle says:

Good show on the addition of shadows. Next season would like to something about the different systems used to clean sensors in the camera.

  282. Linda-Ruby Jacobson says:

Love your show! Would love to see more gagets and bags.

  283. fritz meyer says:

another great show. Loved Scott’s tip. Would
like to see more on shooting with natural light.
    See ya’ ffm

  284. Jock Goodman says:

Most of the previous 280+ suggestions are good for next season. My faves: Night shooting, cheapshots, Wacom tips, radio triggers like the new Poc Wiz, Printing tips, Also some teaser tidbits from the Kelby Training guys like Ziser etc (which may generate more subscriptions). Thanks to Brian M for all the OnOne sponsorship.
How do I put an image in the little icon space where the little man icon is?
LOVED the Moose at M. Valley promo. After shooting an Ironman triathlon from 5:30 A.M. til midnight, I can relate.
PLEASE return to Hawaii with a tour. The Grid, dTown and PSTV are great to keep us “in the loop” way out here in the middle of the Pacific.
BTW, the Fuji Black Ops Ninja assassin squad is looking to punch your ticket, so watch your back. Their new prototype camera is really a poison dart gun in disguise, ala the old Soviet poison umbrella trick.
Keep the learning coming, we live for this stuff. Jock

  285. Jeremy Baker says:

Enjoy your show and watch it faithfully.

  286. Earl Dodd says:

For your future episodes I would like you to run through benefits of lenses ranging from macro to fast glass telephoto. when you should use and not use. Thanks

  287. Brian says:

    Great Info as ususal.

My idea is having RC or Larry visit one of the viewers for a shoot. I shoot dirt track racing weekly and would love to have one of you guys stop in. Bet it would be a blast for everyone!!!!!!

  288. Gabriel Dufresne says:

    Great show as always!

  289. Great show again guys. Gonna miss it.

Some ideas: Cheap Shot light mods or lighting tools. Bring back Grip Tips. Using various camera settings together (i.e. set manual ss/ap, then let Auto ISO manage exposure).

  290. Robert Norris says:

The tips from Scott are awesome, I’ve gotta try that! The things I wold like to see in upcoming shows is more talk on camera equipment, lighting equipment. How some of it is used and reviews on the equipment or at least your honest opinion of the equipment! Keep up the great work!!!

  291. Lewis Johnston says:

A session on how focus points work would be great.

  292. Philip Martini says:

More on how 2 get the shoot right

  293. Gar says:

Thanks a lot for the shows.

    1. Focusing modes, when best to use.
    2. Metering modes, ditto.
    3. More cheap shots!

  294. Joe Bezila says:

Hey guys, I love your show. Have you ever considered doing a separate “paper” magazine for just photography? I would buy it in a heartbeat. Even if you don’t make a separate mag, how about a 10 page section each issue of Photoshop User magazine like you have with Lightroom? I just seen Scott’s new Light It magazine for the Ipad but, sorry, I don’t have that kind of money for an Ipad purchase. Hope to hear a reply. Thanks.

  295. Brad Coryell says:

Great show guys. As someone just getting into photography. I’d like to see some beginners tips. On when using certain peieces of equipment.

  296. Scott Smith says:

I would love to see tips and tricks on how to shoot certain events like outdoor car shows, air shows, concerts, and county fairs. This are just a few that I can think of.

  297. Barbaraz6 says:

How about posing for portraits and
how to even out skin tones in Lightroom 3.

Would love to see those in the show but maybe I could learn them at PSW!

  298. Danny Dehaze says:

I would like to see how you choose what material to make prints on (metal, canvas, paper). There seems to be so much different options now and i was wondering if there are any guidelines to pick a media for a type of picture.

  299. John B. says:

How about a weekly product review ala Siskel and Ebert — Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down (with an appropriate back and forth debate)

  300. Great show. How about, I don’t know..

  301. NWX says:

last show of season? awww…. Great shadow mini-tutorial from SK — looking forward to using that.

Next season? Would love more on workflow and tagging.

    Thanks!

  302. Jefferson Der says:

I would like to see next season is photo taken with low end cameras

  303. Bruce says:

I would like to see more on the resource management side of workflow (backups, catalogs, etc…)

  304. Jan says:

    Nice show again, great advices

  305. Patrick aalmans says:

Great show u made me à Beter photographer

I woud like more postprocessing in THE show

  306. Brent says:

Great show, liked the comments on hiding camera, particularly since I drive a mini-van. Would like to see more on outdoor photography, most of us don’t have the luxury of a fully equipped indoor studio or thousands of dollars worth of lighting equipment.

  307. gilad says:

    loved this episod

  308. Charles says:

    Great tip from Scott!
How about macro photography equipment and tips…. or slow motion…
    Thanks guys.

  309. Stephan says:

    Great job ! once again.

  310. Richard Eberhardt says:

I’d like to see more on Macro photography. It hasn’t been covered in quite some time.

  311. Vince Rasbury says:

    Great show!

I would like to see some tips on off-camera flash with manual and ttl control in the next season.

  312. Craig Stevens says:

Another wonderful season of DTown. Maybe next season you could do a little more off camera flash technique. Seems as though more and more of us are trying to get a grip on this.

Thanks guys and keep up the good work

  313. Stewart says:

    Another excellent show!

Is that a camera body with no cap I can see up on one of the shelves?? …

  314. Jen Topping says:

I’m going to have DTown withdrawal now!!
For what it’s worth, it’s great to see Scott Kelby on the show, but you guys are doing a terrific job filling his and Matt’s shoes!
For next season, in no particular order, I’d like to see some more of:
    - using off-camera Speedlights
    - OnOne tips & info
    - gear/camera reviews
    - how to have fun with light painting
    - night photography techniques
    - portraiture tips
    - how to: tabletop product shooting (tools, backdrops, etc)
    - Lightroom tips!
These are just a few topics that popped into my sleep-deprived head.
    Thanks for a great season!
    Take care,
    Jen

  315. John Gardiner says:

Another great show – fitting end to a cracking season.
A bit of a cop-out but more of the same, please. Thoroughly enjoy the passion you both portray when reviewing an item/idea you’ve been enthused by. Larry’s concealment suggestions; RC’s sample offerings to prospective clients, Think Tank’s Airstream and Fuji X100 (just kidding)!
    Thanks Guys

  316. Adrian says:

I would love to see more OCF techniques and hardware. Thanks guys, love the show!

  317. John Crowell says:

Let’s see more shooting techniques next season; lighting, posing, etc…

Great show, see you in four weeks.

  318. Allen Z says:

Just bought a D7000. Thanks for all the first season! It really helped me on my move from Pentax to Nikon.

  319. Chris Hardy says:

Great show, like Cheap Shots. How about an item on using Speedlites as fill-in flash?

  320. Jim Driscoll says:

Brilliant show! I would love to see a beginning to end photo creation. From clicking the shutter on site with commentary on composition and lighting to image selection and then finish with post processing. You could have it be a multi-episode thing to keep the viewers coming back.

  321. Joe Cormier says:

    NEXT SEASON:

Enlarging photos using software such as
    Genuine Fractals. Thanks

  322. Randy Stratford says:

Great season guys…..suggestions for next season:

    1) How about some tips for shooting video with some of the new DSLRs that have that feature

    2) Wireless Flash (Pocketwizards)

  323. Patrick Gooden says:

I would like to see one in studio three lighting session with changing ratios. You guys do a great job and I think this would would only be a minor challenge.

  324. Will Howard says:

All of the guys do a wonderful job. I have learned so much from all of you!

I would try to stick to 20-25 minute segments, but concentrate more actual DSLR tips, shooting styles, lighting tips, POSING tips, camera tips and tricks (Nikon AND Canon! none of the rest matter, right?)…and less about Photoshop or other software. PhotoshopUserTV does a great job of teaching about software, this show should concentrate on the hardware – cameras, lighting rigs, etc. Which for the most part you do…

I know there are only so much you can cover without repeat.

  325. Rhonda Toothaker says:

Just wanted you guys to know that I love this site! I am about as amateur as you can get but am eager to learn more. This has truly helped me. Keep up the good work!

  326. dario Ricardo says:

I’m a big fan of D-Town since day one.

  327. Damon Allen says:

I recently discovered D-Town TV and I’m hooked! Thanks for a great show! I’d love to see more techniques for on-location shooting and working with available light in various conditions.

  328. Mikael Karlholm says:

Hi guys, I watch your shows as often as I can. Ideas for next season? Well, many of us shoot a lot of family photos. I would like to see a series of tips, like “How to improve…”
    * The childrens party
    * Christmas/Thanksgiving
    * Children sport
    * Grandparents
    * Seasons of the year
I’m not thinking about beginners level, but more like tips about how to think to raise your “creative bar”.

Also I’d like too see a story about making a photo project (could also be a full video for Kelbytraing.com). I mean, how to choose the subject, how to realize your idea, how to make a plan, how to shoot, how to prestent your project…

Keep up the good work guys!

  329. Ron Bebus says:

wow, that season went fast and wow, you guys are growing into your own. good job.

    Ron

  330. Uwe says:

Matt’s Book Photoshop Compositing is not on iTunes

  331. I’ve been gone for a month, but got back and watched the show – I missed this good s#*t!

    Glad to be back!

  332. Kevin Hudson says:

I would like to see some info from Moose and others on air-to-air or air-to-ground photography please!
    Interesting shows as always.

  333. Manny says:

I love all your stuff….I just wish you guys would make it more Android friendly.
Also tell Scott to please, please, please make his new iPad magaziine available for us Andriod Tablet users.

  334. Prullenbak says:

    Great show!

I would really like a segment for amateur photographers who are learning. A couple of seasons ago, scott did a segment for beginners, and I was hoping to see a little more of that.

I like to see how the pro’s shoot, which is why I keep watching the show, but a little more beginner-oriented stuff would be great! (not the “what is aperture”-kind of stuff, but what can I do to practice, how can I make my ‘holiday-shooting’ more professional looking, what can I do to use my DSLR to the fullest, while I can’t afford expensive lenses, speed lights, etc, and don’t get to shoot beautiful models in great lighting conditions or in a studio ;) ) so yeah…hope you get what I mean :)

  335. rian says:

i’d like to know about location tips

  336. Hi guys, great season by the way. As a long time member of Kelbytraining and NAPP, here a few things I’d love to see develop further on your show.

    1) Off camera flash techniques at NIGHT! Like: Incorporating the environment, using city lights in background/or as main light, how about with flash modifiers (snoots/gels/etc..) (instead of the overly done “Fill flash, indoor bounce techniques…”

    2) Show an on location video of “How to photograph landscapes, but particularly how to obtain “Sharp Focus” from foreground to background.. (ie. where to place the focus point, what metering mode, aperture, etc…) of course this has to be done with a DSLR (NIKON :D (please no Fuji X100 :-) ’ LOL

    3) A series on how to shoot HDR backgrounds… (could be done is several shows – as it was done by Matt and Scott during their LENS episodes…)

Hope this helps, I have many more but you guys have a lot to read already… Looking forward to next season… Thanks..

  337. Johnny Dao says:

Great show! I’m starting to get into using flash outdoors. In particularly with a bit of action. I like to see an episode talking about high synch off camera. Like the PocketWizard for Canon.

  338. Tony Salonia says:

Love the show!! More of the same!!

  339. Doug Dillon says:

Great season guys!!!! I truly enjoy and learn with each episode.

Would it be possible to do a segment of restoration of old or damaged photos? I know there are many folks that are volunteering their time and efforts with restoring photos from disasters. It might help to get that word out and also increase the number of folks willing to help.

    Again…..thanks so much!!!!!

  340. Owl says:

I have watched all your shows and think what you are doing is fantastic stuff.

The one thing I don’t remember seeing you speak of is macro photography. I think it would be good if you could do a segment or three on macro lenses, extension tubes,close-up lenses and techniques.

Lots of photographers do macro work and I believe it would be popular and appreciated.

  341. Love the show guys. I think it would be great if a master list of products could be created. Often you show great products and later you may think about it but it’s like what show was that on I can’t remember who made that light , or umbrella, bag or whatever. Remembering what show it was on would be as impossible as watching them all to find what you are trying to remember.

  342. Alex says:

I like to see comparisons of the different straps and holsters in the market (e.g. Black rapid, Spider Holster, etc.). By the way, ‘Love your show.

  343. Ting Jun says:

How about something on Underwater Photography?

  344. Jose says:

I would like to know how you would use the new SaberStrip to control the light spill without using flags and how to hold several of them to a light stand with a A clap, and finally how would you use these modifiers in several ways

  345. Ben says:

Great show as always. Next season I’d like to see more stuff about landscape and wildlife photography.

  346. Bob Moore says:

I liked the tip about hiding cameras and gear in plain sight… Liked Scot Kelby’s demo of shadows…

For next season… I liked the segment RC did about various kinds of print paper… do something again on that… also I love episodes on various lenses… and camera reviews… also going through some of the major parts of the camera… major aspects of photography (depth of field… shutter speed)…. the relationship between increased ISO and camera noise… and how to get rid of it…

I love segments on gear… as well as info on helpful websites like Really Right Stuff, Think Tank, and maybe a segment on useful periferal gear (like knee pads… small flash light… and what kind of lens cleaning kit to have with you…

Also… a segment on various printers and the ones you like the best…

You guys do a good job… you obviouslsy love photography and you’re enough down to earth to find it comfortable to listen. It is this program that finally got me to subscribe to Kelby Training. Thanks.

  347. Tomas says:

I would like to see stuff on flash photography; it’s all Greek to me.

  348. Gloria Santiago says:

    Hey guys,
I love the show and look forward to next season! Please continue with the sense of humor – it makes for an interesting and fun show. Would like to see some photo tips on still life; for example how to light and take some shots of gun collections, glasses etc… What kind of lenses and light boxes?
Hope to see you all at Photoshop world in Las Vegas!
    Thanks …..Gloria

  349. Thanks Larry and RC for all your valuable and creative inputs! I thought I would know my D300 but I always learn something new like the klick on the center of the wheel to return the focus point to the center.
Here is another question where I would love to hear something about in the next season: Do you use teleconverters? Scott Kelby mentions the use of them in his book but there are a lot of voices against them – especially in the digital world. I recently read that the quality is better or equal if you enlarge the image with Photoshop or other tools instead of using a TC. What do you think about optical vs digital (example: Nikon 70-200 with TC-2)?
    Thanks for the great inputs!

  350. Edward Culbreath says:

I’d like to see some more wildlife tips.
    More printers & paper

  351. Emmett Wheeler says:

Would like to see more on lighting in studio and outside

  352. Christian says:

    Excellent season guys.

Can you guys do a segment on the magic lantern firmware for canon dslrs?

  353. Matt says:

thanks again guys for a great show/season. Love the product shot segment that Larry did. The piece of tape trick blew me away. So simple, yet I’ve never thought about that. So yes, any other tips and tricks about product setup/shooting would be awesome.

  354. Derek Leung says:

    Thanks for a great season!

I would like to see more on flash tips and tricks, or any portable diffusers (or even DIY from cheap shots) for lightweight casual travel purposes that can potentially enhance an image from strictly using natural lighting.

  355. Randy says:

Great show!!!! In future shows I would like to know if there is a relationship between metering and AF Area mode. Example: If I set the AF selector to Single Point AF and metering method to 3D Matrix, will both still work as set? Are the 51 point auto focus points doing double duty as metering points? I am currently shooting a D300s. Thanks for the show. I have learned a lot since watching… keep up the good work.

  356. bill kaeter says:

I would love to see your take on shooting in manual for someone weening off of aperture or shutter priority.

  357. brojo says:

    Great season!

Could you consider adding a “3 Minute Post Processing” tip segment showing step by step transformation from original to final for various shots.

  358. Dirk Koenig says:

    Great show !

  359. Phil Hirsch says:

Just discovered D-Town TV. I have a lot of old episodes to view while waiting for your new season to begin. Thanks for all of your hard work for all of us out here.

  360. David Wallk says:

I have always bought a camera bag which have looked like book bags and so many people have told me that it didn’t even look like a camera bag. And esspecially with this type of bag you won;t have to worry about someone breaking into your car for that and your camera is packed with proper padding.

  361. Eric says:

    Hello

It seems silly but if you could discuss pros/cons of watermarking. Then if there is tome show how to create a watermark for photos in Photoshop (or elements) and then insert it to Aperture or Lightroom export. For some of us starting up websites it might be a good discussion.

    Thanks. Great show.

    Eric

  362. Juan Michel says:

    Great show.

  363. Kurt Christoph says:

great season thank you for all of your time its been very helpful. I would like to see some segments on higher end point and shoot camras.

  364. robert mcneil says:

i watch every week and next season would like
    to see more on pp

  365. jvel says:

Great season! looking forward for another even greater season. Thanks RC & Larry!

  366. Rolf Karlsson says:

    Hi guys,

I need tips on how to make ordinary family photos more interesting. I always carry my D300 (to my family’s frustration) and would really like to come home with something different.

    Thanks!

  367. Love the Fuji joke!
    Great episode.

  368. Suggestions for next season:
“What will I take with me for a football-/wedding-/holiday-shoot and why”.
Travel light – what I use for “daily shooting”.
    Explaining obscure camera menu settings.
Cross-referencing to older episodes (F-Stop does … explained at episode x season y).
Weekly or monthly photo assignment + flickr-group

But all in all… go on like you are. It’s a great show! Thanks for all!

  369. Randy Redding says:

I would like to see you guys discuss what the best type of RAW format to shoot in, lossless compressed, compressed or uncompressed. Also which bit, 12 or 14. Thanks, Great Show.

  370. Donald says:

Good job! See you next season.

  371. debowow says:

you could have an ideal blog here! would you like to make some invite posts on my weblog?

  372. Tony Curulli says:

Fantastic show guys, well done and keep them coming.

I have an idea for a DTown drinking game – every time RC says “Phenomenal”, you drink (if you can’t hold your alcohol that well, only drink when he says “Phenomenal phenomenal”).

Next, you drink when RC claims that someone “turns around”, i.e. “Larryturned around and said”, or “Scott turned around and took the shot”. Again, if you can’t hold your alcohol, only drink when RC says that an inanimate object turned around (i.e. Lightroom turned around and applied the effect” or “the camera turns around and won’t write to the card”.

    :-p

  373. Pat Windward says:

Thanks for turning me on to 500px. A great site. Pat_Windward.500px.com
