  163. Paul says:

Larry, please keep your Liberal political snipes to your self. Considering only about 20% of the population self identifies as Liberal, you are more than likely irking a majority of your audience.

If I want political commentary I’ll watch Bill Maher or listen to Rush Limbaugh.

    • Larry Becker says:

      Paul-

Please don’t read more into it than just a swipe at a politician in general. Regardless of the side of the aisle, I find them all worthy of a jab on a regular basis. Mine was nothing more than an off-the-cuff comment not meant to insight political discourse. — Ironically, I’m actually rather conservative. And if you think about it, McCain is one of the least conservative Republicans out there. I’m thinking ’08 would have gone differently if… Kidding, I’m not REALLY gonna start talking politics here. ;)

  164. Ken says:

Hey guys – great show as always. I love Trey’s work as well.

    Two thoughts for show topics:
    1. Sensor cleaning – especially, what is the best equipment under $100 if I want to do it myself?
    2. RAW+jpeg workflow for Lightroom. I usually just shoot Raw but thinking about using Raw+jpeg when I know I’ll want to fire off some shots quick. What’s the best way to handle it in LR? Should I import the jpeg’s as well, or leave them out of LR?

  165. Christian Hense says:

  186. John Swarce says:

Wow! An interview with Jay, and Trey’s work showcased on the same show! Thanks, guys! One thing to note when you do future video interviews is to make sure the tops of the heads in the video are at the same height. RC was noticeably “taller” than Jay, and it was awkward to watch. :)

Larry, thanks for the reflector tip. I did a senior portrait using the gold reflector below the boy’s face. Looking back, I should have used it above, but the boy loved the photo and made it his yearbook picture anyways. Whatever the client wants, right? ;)

    –John

  204. Bob Hunt says:

    Trey does some great HDR

  205. Bill Guy says:

Great as always. Larry, next time mention that the black side can also be used to keep light from bouncing off surfaces adding too much light. Like a model standing on a clean sidewalk with light bouncing up into her face. Not only reduces the light but makes it more comfortable for her to see.

  206. Josh Berg says:

    thanks guys

  207. Tony Sidhu says:

    great show guys…

  208. J-J says:

Your tech crew needs to fine tune the noise gates in the microphone channels.
It seems to be a bit too tight.

  209. Thank you for another very helpful show. You have renewed my interest in HDR and have checked out the links you shared. Keep up the great work.

A question. When do you prefer to use the title field in lightroom meta data vs using the Caption field?

Also, any way to easily spell check the caption field or inport into the caption filed?

  210. Brock Kirschenmann says:

Trey’s stuff is so great. I love getting his newsletter. A great way to see his new stuff as it comes out.

Sorry guys but Treys HDR stuff is old school and not good anymore. You should point people in the direction of Klaus from Germany. He is doing the best HDR processing in the world right now and his stuff is all free!

    Here is his link:

  240. Jim Hill says:

John McCain looks evil? Come on, get serious.

    • Larry Becker says:

      Jim-

At least you know I wasn’t serious. In case you missed my comment to Paul above, here was my reply when he thought I was making a political comment:

Please don’t read more into it than just a swipe at a politician in general. Regardless of the side of the aisle, I find them all worthy of a jab on a regular basis. Mine was nothing more than an off-the-cuff comment not meant to insight political discourse. — Ironically, I’m actually rather conservative. And if you think about it, McCain is one of the least conservative Republicans out there. I’m thinking ’08 would have gone differently if… Kidding, I’m not REALLY gonna start talking politics here. ;)

  247. Nick Mavro says:

    Hi guys,
Long-time watcher, first-time poster. I’ve watched every episode of D-Town and loved the tips and tricks from the first 65 episodes. So much so that I recommend the D-Town podcasts to many of my friends that are new to photography. Sorry to be blunt, but it just seems like the show has gotten way too chatty lately; almost like the constant, constant banter is more of a time filler than an effort to answer questions and give tips. I used to look forward to watching these episodes on the subway to/from work and now I find myself losing interest and actually reading the ads on the train walls when the incessant banter starts.

As far as questions go, I was interested in getting into automotive photography and wanted to know if you guys had any tips on the best way to capture cars (i.e. rig shots, rolling shots, driving shots, from below, etc.).

    Thanks.

  248. John says:

Love the show and have seen every episode.

I am a little disappointed in Larry with his comment in this episode regarding a political figure. I do not believe this show is the appropriate venue to express personal political options. I do respect you Larry and appreciate all the great info you have shared with us but please keep the subject on topic.

    • Larry Becker says:

      John-

Apparently you missed my comment to Paul (above around #164). To quote me:

Please don’t read more into it than just a swipe at a politician in general. Regardless of the side of the aisle, I find them all worthy of a jab on a regular basis. Mine was nothing more than an off-the-cuff comment not meant to insight political discourse. — Ironically, I’m actually rather conservative. I’m thinking ’08 would have gone differently if… Kidding, I’m not REALLY gonna start talking politics here. ;)

  249. Lori Barrett says:

    You guys are the best!

  250. Edward Culbreath says:

    Yeah for Trey

  251. Doug Young says:

Another great episode, love this stuff. Can you guys do a few more episodes on outdoor, wildlife photography. Like every photgrapher I know we also want to know what these pros use for equipment. Possibly add a segment on what’s in your bag when you interview some of these guys.

    Thanks Guys

  252. Francis says:

    Love it

  253. Larry Uy says:

  256. Christopher Mainprize says:

Hope I win one of those great give-aways some day.

Keep up the good works Chaps.

  257. Jay Barclay says:

Really Larry? McCain looks evil “more than normal”/ Not even close to describing McCain. The show is about photography. Don’t let your politics show.

    Thanks again.
