    Love the shows and have watched from episode 1(when it was for nikon shooters) two comments..does kelby training do anything with apple aperture? And I notice Scott and Matt use macs..Why don’t you ever see aperture on any episodes? Do you have it or ever used it?

    Guys,
    Have you any tips on shooting in cold weather?
    With the snow and ice latelty it was a perfect time to take some good picture but I couldn’t use the shutter with gloves on and when I took them off my finger became so numb with the cold I still couldn’t press the shutter.

    After a long four week break (? X 2) it is terrific to have D-Town back. This show has an insidious way of becoming highly addictive to one’s weekly routine and was truly missed during the break.   210. I’m hearing just a touch of echo or reverb on the new set., kind of a bounce off hard surfaces. It’s not a big deal, but it’s also not smooth. Tell Larry I’ve become a big fan of Cheetahstand and that the owner has called me at home after I suggested an improvement to the QBox. That is true customer service!

    When I first started shooting a couple years ago, I learned about the histogram, but I don’t know the last time I used it while shooting. I do keep highlights on while viewing on back of the camera and found that using a loupe in sunlight really helps.

    Here are some tips:
    1. Don’t where black when demonstrating cameras colored black. It makes it difficult to see the details. Leave your black clothing ego behind and get with some color.
    2. Fix the sound on your show. There is far too much echo and hollow sound.
    3. The show looked like it was pulled together in a rush. Makes for thin content which is not your usual style in this show.

    I know you were excited to explain the changes, but a little acknowledgement of the delay would have been nice, you’ve done it before on your various shows.

    I understand why this episode felt a bit feature light after the information on the changes, but the ‘tips’ you did have would have been nice with example images, The gels and the flash segment would have been better with example images, and I’m not quite sure what Cliff Mautner’s tip was, so picture would probably have helped there too. ;-)

    Thanks to Scott and Matt for all the previous episodes, I hope Larry and RC will live up to, or surpass the standards you’ve set.

    I’m fine with some fresh blood on the set,,,,,,Not in the Quentin Tarentino way, but fresh humanoids with, hopefully, some new and fresh insight to the show.
    I think of Dtown as the HARDWARE kind of show and PSTV as the SOFTWARE kind of show. Hope the grid is as adidcting as the other shows.
    I’d like to learn more about pocket wizards and remote shooting, mounting cameras for sports angles, wildlife and some L O N G exposure night stuff. The economy seems to be picking up, so Prosperity to us all.

    Glad to see you back in action, but the show was a bit thin regarding content. It looked as if it was pulled together in a hurry rather than the almost two months since the last show. Looking forward to seeing what the new hosts do on the show. Just one little tip. Don’t wear black. If you’re demonstrating with black equipment, it makes it difficult to see anything… and I use a properly calibrated iMac. Please wear some color. In addition, the sound needs tweaking a bit. It sounds hollow.

    Welcome back – you guys certainly had a lot of fun making episode 64, it was a great show & hugely enjoyable as well as informative.

    Set looks great & I’m sure you’ll find a way to kill the reverb in the sound – maybe Larry’s Cheapshots can propose an acoustic-wadding bought for ten bucks through Wal-Mart!

    Suggestions for tips…. I’m colourblind so shoot in B&W, but how do you go about setting up a really good monochome shot so it works first time in-camera rather than spending too much time post in SilverFX. Maybe it is in the lighting, the contrast, the filter, the subjects (urban seems more successful to me). You guys must have tried just about everything between you, so how about some ideas.

  417. I really appreciated the tip about available light shooting as well as the tip with the gels. I traditionally use hdr for my outdoor bright light wedding shots to good effect but you can’t always rely on HDR!

    Agree that the content was a bit thin. Jeremy Cowart was great, looked at his website and his lessons on Kelby Training. Surprised so many people didn’t realize the echo was actually a very sophisticated reverb.

    Finally got caught up on my podcasts and watched the new episode. So glad for the new season, and I’m even excited for the changes, but wow, the audio really needs help. The new set has too much echo and Cliff Mautner sounded muddy. Not the quality I’ve come to expect from you guys. Knowing you guys, though, I’m sure a fix is already in the works. Looking forward to the next show already!

    Sorry Scott, I don’t agree with your explanation of ‘not looking at the histogram’. As a ‘follower’ of the ‘expose to the right’-technique I always use the histogram to see where the shadows are . You know where the noise is, don’t you… :-)

    But please,change back the logo, cause the style of the logo doesn’t match to the style of the set. and this makes the intro to the show look cheap. But all in all, keep on ;)

    I just heard that all video shot with any of the Canon DSLR cameras can not be used for commercial use.
    Is this true?
    You would have to pay for the use of the Codec or something.

    I have a mulimedia pc that is pretty upto date. Your video streaming is very slow. You make two to half dozen words and it stops and spools. Very very frustrating. Takes me four times longer to view your show. Is there anything that you can do to improve this?

    I have been writing this comment for a couple years now yet here you go again.

    Please do NOT wear black clothing when demonstrating black cameras and black accessories. In previous years DtownTV used a black desk but at least this one is grey.
