As always guys you rock. It’s been a great season of DTown and I look forward to see you guys in the new year of 2011. Have a very happy and safe holiday season. Oh by the way Scott I emailed you during your Hawaii vacation. Do you know any photographers who shot the UConn / South Florida game.? I couldn’t get down, but UConn won and we are heading to the Fiesta Bowl on Jan 1st. I wanted to get a few pictures of the winning field goal and put them together in a photo poster. You really tweaked my interest in doing a poster like you did for the ND game you went to. If I got the picts that I wanted i was going to give it to my brother for the holidays for his man cave. Any help would be appreciated. Again Happy Holidays…:)
Great show guys. Merry Christmas!

Love the show, enjoy the break. Hurry back!!!
Great show.
1 thing you guys didn’t mention, was that when generating jpg’s from the apps, there is no additional processing done to the images.
In other words, they’re just raw images converted into jpg’s, unlike the processing that takes place in the camera, like sharpening, contrast and color.
Hurry back.
Hi. Nice show.
Happy holidays!
Great show as usual. Enjoy your break!
Thank for another great series. Hurry back.

Great show cya in 4 weeks
Hi Guys, I prefer Aperture over Lightroom.
Hi Matt
For quick NEF to JPEG conversions I prefer using Nikon View NX 2. Using the Nikon software, all the Nikon Picture Control settings
(especially sharpening) will be applied to the converted JPEG.
Great show as always!
I´ve been watching and learning from you guys since you started off. And i´m doing it from very far away in my hometown Jerez in the south of Spain.
I´ll be eagerly waiting for these four weeks to run past fast. Very Merry Xmas and Prosperous New Year ( end of the crisis year? ) for you two and for the rest of the team… I´ll be missing you !

I want to win
You guys rock! Have a great holiday.
Thanks for another great season!
When you come back… can you explain the different auto-focus modes in the new D7000? Coming from a D60 it’s a bit confusing.
Thanks again, and Happy Holidays!!
Great show. Hope you guys have a great holiday and look forward to seeing you next season.
I’ve caught up on all the older shows over the last week or so, I’m not sure i’ll like waiting 4 weeks for another!
Nice show again!
Have a great christmas and New year to everyone!! So hot down here in australia for christmas period hahahaha.
Anyway, my personal opinion of shooting raw+jpeg is probably more for accessing SOOC images with a edited colour profile from camera. Sadly Lightroom doenst allow that reproduction. As best, it will only allow eg base VIVID setting but not the tweaked version. Not too sure about the other 2 programs.
I hope I am not too late to enter! I will miss you guys. What am I suppose to do in the mean time?
Great Show!
Another great season.
Couple of ideas for the future:
1. To go with sports series. Gaining access and getting published.
2. When to use filters on camera and when to use Photoshop.
3. Tips for shooting children, getting more than a snapshot.
Thanks guys, I really like that you share a new photographers site every week. See you in four weeks
Thanks and see you next year!

Also, since you’ll be changing the set for the next one, is it possible you could show us bigger versions of the framed photos on the wall that’s always behind Scott and Matt? I’ve always wondered what those actually looked like.
Cheers

hi
Great episode as always!
Hi Guys,
Brilliant show all the best from Liverpool UK
Paul.
Happy Holidays!
Hi! I’m from Russia, and i learned from this show really a lot of stuff, also English =)
Thanks for another great season.
Nice one guys! Enjoy your break!
Again problems on iTunes, this was the case with episode 59 now 62 & 63 are not showing on iTunes.
How about a show shooting directly to pc, so shots can be viewed directly on pc, with wire or wirelless and also the different program’s that can be used.
Maybe also alternatives for nikon, since nikon wireless is expensive.
Sorry guys, but now i’m dissapointed.
You always tell on your shows that you read these comments. But after 2 days there is no reply, no notification or what so ever on this subject. You had this problem before in episode 59, and now again episode 62 & 63 are not showing in iTunes.
Also you ask to your viewers to spread the word around, but how are we suppose to advertise something that doesn’t work properly
Hope you can fix this problem soon. (For once and for all)
Regards
Hello!
Thanks for another great Season..!
Matt, you missed an important aspect of this with JPEG and RAW …
If I use a camera that saves on two cards, you get a backup directly
if one of the cards would give up and stop working.
I always do this, also because JPEG is faster to look through! : )
Have a great time!
/David Wiberg

Hey guys, great show. Request: with all the great links you provide us, could you have your web guys make them open up in a new browser window. Currently, they link and I loose my spot in your video. If they opened up in a new browser window, i could check out the links and watch the video at the same time, thanks.
Great show guys. C ya next season.
Merry Christmas
Great show guys. Can’t wait for season 5.
One criticism, I know B&H are sponsors and they are a great store and site. But sometimes I wish you would encourage viewers to use their local camera shops. Not necessarily the big box stores or camera chains (although some of them have knowledgable people). But he local camera enthusiasts stores that most cities have. These people service both the proffessional and amateur clientel in their areas. I don’t work or have any special interest in one of these stores, except as a patron. My local one I have to drive across town to go to, but the knowledge and service they supply is invaluable. These Mom and Pop stores need to survive in this crazy economy and I for one can not afford to purchase all of my items from even the NY local of B&H, even though B&H is an excellent supplier.
Please also keep in mind some of us are in this expensive field as a hobby and are limited in funds. So a local store can give us the ability to touch and compare items we are considering.
This was a boon to me when I purchased my tripod last year. I was planning to purchase a cheaper pod, but after comparing the manfrotto to the lesser quality one, I decided to pay the higher price for a pod I love more each time I use it.
I wont even mention the ability to look at many of the bags that I have considered and decided against when I’ve been able to actually hold and look through them. That search still continues.
Thanks for the time.
Can’t wait for you to get back. Merry Christmas
For really quick JPGs from RAW files, I sure love the free Instant JPG From RAW utility from Michael Tapes. I think I first found it on Scott’s blog.

The Manfroto Magic Arm…
I photo mentor Frank (a man in a wheelchair) and discovered the Magic Arm last February at NANPA conference in Reno. I’m able to attach his camera to his wheelchair which gives him greater freedom and control in making his images. As opposed to the old days of the tripod.
Here’s a shot on my Flickr of Frank at work with the Magic Arm:

The old way with a tripod:

Hello Scott,
Is your mind getting weak or do you remember last December, in the Gonzo Holiday Gear Guide, you recommended the Manfrotto 244 Magic Arm with the 035 Super Clamp. I was happy because I already had it… plus 2 Zumbrella’s and same other(s) of your recomendations.
THE MAGIC ARM ROCKS with monolights, Speedlights, Speedlites, and Grip equipment.
Be healthy everyone,
Mark

I`m Brazilian (Curitiba) and living in USA (Fort Lauderdale, South Florida ) for more than eight years. I`m a Cook at a French Restaurant and a part time golfer and freelance photographer. I`m graduating this year (2007) from photography school in Georgia.
I`m a beginner, but my passion for photography pushes me to learn more and more, following the steps of the great masters of painting and photography.

I would like to see (learn) more (still-life) studio tips.
See you guys in four weeks.

Dear Scott/Matt,
Please tell us how to save our files securely. I don’t see these in your episodes.
I had a dilemma before when I forgot to back-up my file and my desktop crashed. How soon do you back up and save your files? How do you save it for long term keeping?
Thanks.
Renante

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Hi Guys,
I am sure you have not heard it long time: “You guys rock!”
Confession: The past months (!) I have not been watching D-Town, I was very busy on site.
But guess what, not joking: I have been watching the missed shows now for 1,5 days. I made a playlit in iTunes, synced it with my AppleTV. Now I have D-Town TV running all day long
Just wanted to give you quick feedback. I enjoyed every single show (actually still enjoying, still watching)
Martin.
Happy New Year!
Thanks for the show!
4 weeks are too short for you guys, but too long for all of us! Have a great New Year!
You get so many “great show” comments just to qualify for the give aways, I feel like I am getting a lotto ticket when I send this Great Show email! Happy New Year, and have a nice month off!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Guys…I have been watching since day 1 and I am loving it. You have shown me a lot. Keep up the great work. But it looks like it’s not work for you guys. It looks like you are having fun. Photographers just like to share.
Love the show! Happy new year.
Great show, Happy New Year!!!
Great show guys! I have been following you since episode 1 and have learned a lot! Thanks for all the hard work!
thanks Guys. Great tip from Moose too.. Happy new year!
Just wanted to say THANKS for all the tips and advice. I have been watching all the shows together as I only found out about it recently.
Can I suggest something maybe for the cheap-shots segment. Its a DIY kind of lightsphere like the Gary Fong ones. You can make it for a few pounds/dollars and it works great. Here is the website where I found it
http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Gary-Fong-Lightsphere/
Hoping your next year is every bit as happy and informative as your last.
Thanks for all your help!
Brian
Thanks for your B&H coverage, it was really good.

Hey Guys, fantastic show as usual, looking forward to the new set.
Just thought Id let you know, I re-subscribed to the itunes podcast and re-downloaded everything… except for episode 5. It looks like there’s a permissions issue with it. Hope it’s not just me :S
My fingers are crossed for the training pack.
Regards
Rob
Excellent series, just watched the whole set and got some excellent tips and advice.
For the cheap shots can I suggest a DIY lightsphere type flash diffuser. You can make it cheap and instructions are below
http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Gary-Fong-Lightsphere/
RAW vs. DNG ???
Great show guys!
Is there a reason the last two shows don’t show up in iTunes?

Thank you Matt and Scott. You are making me look so good as a photographer. I have now been asked to be the photographer for my son’s college lacrosse team. Your sports tips are invaluable. Keep up the great job!
I finished the complete set of programs yesterday. My son had recommended DTown to me and suggested starting out with the first episode. You provide a great service. Now get back to work it’s been three weeks since your last show.
My son gave me Captured for Christmas and I am down to the last few pages. Moose did an incredible job.
Hi,
you published this episode on 10th of December, it only downloaded it today (5th January) in my iTunes, even though I check for new episodes every day – some strange behavior
Happy New Year
this is awesome!!!
The shows rock !
Avesome.
But a ? when selling pictures – Can you say something about that.
Price, contracts ets.
What about this : http://www.cradocfotosoftware.com/index.html

Thank you Scott! I love your videos. Keep it going.
Hello Guys, looking forward to the next season
Cheers from Spain
In episode 63 Matt explained how to convert raw files to jpeg, my question is: When I make the conversion, do I get the same jpeg I get if i shoot raw + jpeg (with all in camera adjustments) I have my camera(D300) set up so my jpegs are very good right out of the camera. I’m only using the raw file if I have a shot that I feel needs some adjusting and that I may print.
Great show, looking forward to your return
Al
You guys are wonderful. Thanks for sharing all this information.
I´m from denmark and I love your show

You guys rock!
Anyway, I’ve just watched the entire 4 seasons and I love the show.
Just a thing, you should make a catalog of tips, so that you’ll stop repeating yourselves.
The autofocus Continuos/single tip was given 5 TIMES hahahahahah
Great show
Did I win this time?
Great show guys!
64???????
When is the new show due out? I’m jonesing here!
What happened to the 4 week hiatus? It is looking more like a 7 week vacation.
Where is D-Town TV it has been longer than the 4 weeks they told us viewers that they would be gone. It is now beginning the 6th week that they have been gone. I miss my D-Town TV.
Awesome show guys,Thanks for everything that you do for us.
Have you forgotten about us ?
PHOTOGRAPHY APPLIED TO OUR SELVES….
lower your shutter speed, to blur most of your problems! Open up your Aperture to have a clear and bright mind. Then lower our ISO because too much sensitivity will degrade the picture of your life! Expose your self into reality, and create the best picture of yours, For there’s no such thing as perfect picture in life.
…by mark ancheta (photographer)
great show as always!

Great show guys!
It has been such a long time, it now looks like they’ve decided to stop making the weekly show – what a shame, but at least the 60+ episodes archived here cover everything you need to know. Thanks to Matt and Scott and all the other contributors for a great run, sad to see this ended
but in fairness, they’ve given us some great info throughout the shows, bye guys, and thanks.
Bonjour,
Are you still alive, all France is worried about your return.
“It has been such a long time, it now looks like they’ve decided to stop making the weekly show – what a shame, but at least the 60+ episodes archived here cover everything you need to know. I do AGREE, thanks guys for a great show and all the best for the future..
Where are you guys? Come back. Come back. Your 4 weeks were up long ago. What’s happening with the show?
You Rock!
I have a question about auto focus and the Nikon wireless remote (infrared remote).
It does not snow but once or twice a winter in Charlotte, NC and then it is usually less than 3 inches.
After our most recent snow I attempted to take some self portraits in the wooded area around our neighborhood.
I determined where I wanted to be positioned, I set up my old tripod and camera (D7000 w/ a rented Nikkor 70-200 f2.8).
I then selected the focus point of where I was planning to position myself.
Pressed the shutter half way to set the auto focus.
Stepped into position in front of the camera and used the wireless remote to take a few pictures.
The pictures were tack sharp — on the branches and trees behind me.
I, however, was out of focus in most of the pictures.
My guess is the wireless remote only trips the shutter and has no link to the auto focus system.
Do you know if there is a way to activate/link auto focus when using the wireless remote.
Or do you have any suggestions on how I can overcome this issue?
Thanks for your help.
Hey Guys,
Colin from Scotland here, love the show, the most useful photo web site on the planet.
Just one thing! How long is a month in America? I’m getting Kelby withdrawls!!!
Colin.
D-Town must be Dead-Town. Can’t believe you guys anymore!!
You guys are awesome! Cant wait for your next show.
From Matt’s blog Jan 21st.
“Scott and I just recorded our latest episode of DTown TV. It’ll be up next week (sorry it’s late but there were a few projects that had to get done first)”
So “next week” is gone, but it has to be close!
The natives are getting restless guys.
It’s becomming long. I hope you’ll be back soon
Just found your podcast and I love it. I can’t wait to explore all the past shows
Alright now, next week is here……c’mon out, wherever you are……
Alright, guys, vacation was over…..last week…
I know we are not paying for DTown, but to say you’re taking a month break and to have no word when the break is a approaching 2months is a bit disappointing. A message just to explain the delay, and to confirm (or not) whether/when you will be doing any more episodes was all that was needed.
I don’t know about you, but I have given up in waiting for DTOWN TV to return.
Goes to show they don’t care about their public.
Scott and Matt could have least answered our posts or recorded a video post to let us know what’s going on.
Great Show, just what I needed.
@michael biggs I asked Matt via facebook when D-Town was back and he said we are recording a new show this week so keep an eye out for it next week, that was 3 weeks ago so who knows when it will be back but this is not the 1st time its been longer then the allagid 4 week break.
Just keep checking back here like I do but while I’m waiting for Scott & Matt I’ll just keep watch all my other favourite photography podcasts to keep me going
agree with redhed17 you surely have a reason for not holding the schedule as planned and said in the video but give us a something so we know.
and thanks for your Uber super shows u roxx
What are these other photo podcasts of which you speak Russ?
Doesn’t seem to be much happening here sadly.
OK boyz…seriously…WT?????
“we’ll be back in one month” ??? Great…but exactly which MONTH and YEAR were you referring to?
How about at least recognizing your readers are asking questions about when you plan to return and respond to us….or is that stuff about “we read all the posts” just a lot of smoke and mirrors?
Looking forward to seeing you soon – from a supporter that truly does love your stuff.
Cheers,
M.
Guys, WHERE ARE YOU??????????
Don’t keep us waiting any longer please.
@redhed17
Appart from all the other Kelby TV podcasts I also watch:-
FroKnowsPho
http://froknowsphoto.com/
(He is starting a live show tomorrow (Sunday) @ 12 EST on ustream) plus he normally posts a new video everyday on his site.
Dom Bower Photo Blog.
http://dombowerphoto.blogspot.com/
He normally updates his site 2 or three times a week.
Gavin Hoey
http://www.gavtrain.com/
Just waiting for Scott & Matt to come back so as I can get my full fix of weekly photography stuff
@redhed17
By the way there are plenty of archive stuff on those other sites to catch up on.
Seriously people take it easy, if they come back, they come back. If they don’t, they don’t. They owe us nothing, I would go so far as to say we owe them. So if they want to take 2 months off instead of 1, so be it. I’m sure they have a million other things to do with all the books and other websites they run, so like I said take it easy.
More info on the show on Scott Kelby’s blog, http://www.scottkelby.com.
I always take it easy,
but having been a viewer since episode one, I assumed the chaps cared more about their viewers. They can of course take as long as they want to produce a new episode, they can even not do any more episodes, or as in the link you posted, allude to changes to the format, but whatever they decide to do, it would be nice to keep the viewers informed. It takes five minutes to write a paragraph saying what their plans are and putting it on the front page. And no, they don’t have to do it, but it would at least be considerate to their viewers.
@redhed17
Sorry mate I didn’t ignore your question, I did list those other podcasts for you but they were taken out by the mod.
Whoops silly me I skipped past my reply, its still waiting to be moderated
Sorry.
Thanks for trying Russ. I thought with the comments being seemingly ignored, it wouldn’t be a problem.
The comments seem to be monitored, but ignored.
I’ll try without the links for you. Google Dom Bower Photography Blog. Gavin Hoey & FroKnowsPhoto.
L.O.V.E the show!
Great show!
gonna miss you guys!!
Jonh all the way from Vancouver BC
from http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2011/archives/16644, posted on Feb 4 :
Q. When is the new Season of D-Town TV going to air?
A. OK, you have to keep this under wraps, but it’s been delayed a few weeks because we are launching an awesome new show in the next couple of weeks that I think you all will love. I can’t reveal all the details yet, but in the meantime it looks like D-Town TV will kick off its new season next week, but with some changes, which will be revealed in that first episode. It’s all good stuff, so stay tuned.
Cheers, Ben
Hi
Great show as always guys!
I am from Iceland and watch all episode from you
You guys aren’t coming back… the wait has been killing me… I’m dying for new shows… but if you need assisted support, you know you can count on me.
Great Show don’t take too long to come back !
Your shows are awesome! Cant wait for the new season! t
Scott and Matt are trying to stowaway on The Flash Bus…
Looks like you are trying to set the “4 week” record with this break
Great Show, Thanks for being out there!
Pax et Bonum!
G.
I’m suffering from dTown withdraw.
Thanks Russ, the links finally appeared.
And so we go past 2 months since the last episode and still no official word here.
Love the show!
Can you cover battery packs for studio lighting?
Where are you guys. Four weeks is turning into 9 weeks!
So, no more episodes I guess?
Love the show!
Guys, see A @ 562…
Dont’t take six and a half weeks off again please! I need another episode!
OK. I promise you’ll see a show in the next week. We re-recorded yesterday. Sorry, but we had to change a few things. You’ll get the full scoop when the new show comes out.
Thanks!
- Matt K
Matt Thanks for the update. Can’t wait for the new shows.
FANTASTIC! See you next week guys. Looking forward to your NEW show.
Thanks for the update Matt, would have been nice 5 or so weeks ago though. You and Scott can’t have been that busy to stop you taking two minutes to post an update.
Sounds ungrateful I know, but I really enjoy the shows (have done since ep1) and would have liked to have been kept informed about the next air date and any delays, however vaguely, no need to go into specifics. Just a message to say that a new episode would arrive, and a rough eta.
Great News to hear you’re coming back soon.
Try this.

I’m here.
Greetings from Sweden
Thank you guys!
Great post I must say. Simple but yet interesting. Wonderful work!
