Oh by the way Scott I emailed you during your Hawaii vacation. Do you know any photographers who shot the UConn / South Florida game.? I couldn’t get down, but UConn won and we are heading to the Fiesta Bowl on Jan 1st. I wanted to get a few pictures of the winning field goal and put them together in a photo poster. You really tweaked my interest in doing a poster like you did for the ND game you went to. If I got the picts that I wanted i was going to give it to my brother for the holidays for his man cave. Nice show again!
Have a great christmas and New year to everyone!! So hot down here in australia for christmas period hahahaha.

Anyway, my personal opinion of shooting raw+jpeg is probably more for accessing SOOC images with a edited colour profile from camera. Sadly Lightroom doenst allow that reproduction. As best, it will only allow eg base VIVID setting but not the tweaked version. Not too sure about the other 2 programs.

Again problems on iTunes, this was the case with episode 59 now 62 & 63 are not showing on iTunes.

How about a show shooting directly to pc, so shots can be viewed directly on pc, with wire or wirelless and also the different program’s that can be used.
Maybe also alternatives for nikon, since nikon wireless is expensive.

Sorry guys, but now i’m dissapointed.
You always tell on your shows that you read these comments. But after 2 days there is no reply, no notification or what so ever on this subject. You had this problem before in episode 59, and now again episode 62 & 63 are not showing in iTunes.

Also you ask to your viewers to spread the word around, but how are we suppose to advertise something that doesn’t work properly

Hope you can fix this problem soon. (For once and for all)

      Regards

    Hello!

    Thanks for another great Season..!

Matt, you missed an important aspect of this with JPEG and RAW …
If I use a camera that saves on two cards, you get a backup directly
if one of the cards would give up and stop working.

I always do this, also because JPEG is faster to look through! : )

    Have a great time!

Great show guys. Can’t wait for season 5.
One criticism, I know B&H are sponsors and they are a great store and site. But sometimes I wish you would encourage viewers to use their local camera shops. Not necessarily the big box stores or camera chains (although some of them have knowledgable people). But he local camera enthusiasts stores that most cities have. These people service both the proffessional and amateur clientel in their areas. I don’t work or have any special interest in one of these stores, except as a patron. My local one I have to drive across town to go to, but the knowledge and service they supply is invaluable. These Mom and Pop stores need to survive in this crazy economy and I for one can not afford to purchase all of my items from even the NY local of B&H, even though B&H is an excellent supplier.
Please also keep in mind some of us are in this expensive field as a hobby and are limited in funds. So a local store can give us the ability to touch and compare items we are considering.
This was a boon to me when I purchased my tripod last year. I was planning to purchase a cheaper pod, but after comparing the manfrotto to the lesser quality one, I decided to pay the higher price for a pod I love more each time I use it.
I wont even mention the ability to look at many of the bags that I have considered and decided against when I’ve been able to actually hold and look through them. That search still continues.
    Thanks for the time.

  235. monkeyinabox says:

For really quick JPGs from RAW files, I sure love the free Instant JPG From RAW utility from Michael Tapes. I think I first found it on Scott’s blog.

  267. The Manfroto Magic Arm…

I photo mentor Frank (a man in a wheelchair) and discovered the Magic Arm last February at NANPA conference in Reno. I’m able to attach his camera to his wheelchair which gives him greater freedom and control in making his images. As opposed to the old days of the tripod.

Here’s a shot on my Flickr of Frank at work with the Magic Arm:

Hey Guys, fantastic show as usual, looking forward to the new set.

Excellent series, just watched the whole set and got some excellent tips and advice.

For the cheap shots can I suggest a DIY lightsphere type flash diffuser. You can make it cheap and instructions are below

In episode 63 Matt explained how to convert raw files to jpeg, my question is: When I make the conversion, do I get the same jpeg I get if i shoot raw + jpeg (with all in camera adjustments) I have my camera(D300) set up so my jpegs are very good right out of the camera. I’m only using the raw file if I have a shot that I feel needs some adjusting and that I may print.

    PHOTOGRAPHY APPLIED TO OUR SELVES….
lower your shutter speed, to blur most of your problems! Open up your Aperture to have a clear and bright mind. Then lower our ISO because too much sensitivity will degrade the picture of your life! Expose your self into reality, and create the best picture of yours, For there’s no such thing as perfect picture in life.

  499. Ray Fiore says:

    Great show guys!

  500. Ross says:

It has been such a long time, it now looks like they’ve decided to stop making the weekly show – what a shame, but at least the 60+ episodes archived here cover everything you need to know. Thanks to Matt and Scott and all the other contributors for a great run, sad to see this ended :-( but in fairness, they’ve given us some great info throughout the shows, bye guys, and thanks.

  501. christian Meyer says:

    Bonjour,
Are you still alive, all France is worried about your return.

  502. “It has been such a long time, it now looks like they’ve decided to stop making the weekly show – what a shame, but at least the 60+ episodes archived here cover everything you need to know. I do AGREE, thanks guys for a great show and all the best for the future..

  503. Terry Dickin says:

Where are you guys? Come back. Come back. Your 4 weeks were up long ago. What’s happening with the show?

  504. Stewart Warne says:

    You Rock!

I have a question about auto focus and the Nikon wireless remote (infrared remote).

It does not snow but once or twice a winter in Charlotte, NC and then it is usually less than 3 inches.
After our most recent snow I attempted to take some self portraits in the wooded area around our neighborhood.
I determined where I wanted to be positioned, I set up my old tripod and camera (D7000 w/ a rented Nikkor 70-200 f2.8).
I then selected the focus point of where I was planning to position myself.
Pressed the shutter half way to set the auto focus.
Stepped into position in front of the camera and used the wireless remote to take a few pictures.

The pictures were tack sharp — on the branches and trees behind me.
I, however, was out of focus in most of the pictures.

My guess is the wireless remote only trips the shutter and has no link to the auto focus system.
Do you know if there is a way to activate/link auto focus when using the wireless remote.
Or do you have any suggestions on how I can overcome this issue?

    Thanks for your help.

  505. Colin Dick says:

    Hey Guys,
Colin from Scotland here, love the show, the most useful photo web site on the planet.
Just one thing! How long is a month in America? I’m getting Kelby withdrawls!!!
    Colin.

  506. Jack says:

D-Town must be Dead-Town. Can’t believe you guys anymore!!

  507. John Mark Simmons says:

You guys are awesome! Cant wait for your next show.

  508. michael biggs says:

    From Matt’s blog Jan 21st.

“Scott and I just recorded our latest episode of DTown TV. It’ll be up next week (sorry it’s late but there were a few projects that had to get done first)”

So “next week” is gone, but it has to be close!

  509. Russ says:

The natives are getting restless guys.

  510. christian Meyer says:

It’s becomming long. I hope you’ll be back soon

  511. James Cromer says:

Just found your podcast and I love it. I can’t wait to explore all the past shows

  512. Tor says:

Alright now, next week is here……c’mon out, wherever you are……

  513. Tor Langvand says:

Alright, guys, vacation was over…..last week…

  514. redhed17 says:

I know we are not paying for DTown, but to say you’re taking a month break and to have no word when the break is a approaching 2months is a bit disappointing. A message just to explain the delay, and to confirm (or not) whether/when you will be doing any more episodes was all that was needed. :-(

  515. jack says:

I don’t know about you, but I have given up in waiting for DTOWN TV to return.

Goes to show they don’t care about their public.

Scott and Matt could have least answered our posts or recorded a video post to let us know what’s going on.

  516. Kevin Leith says:

Great Show, just what I needed.

  517. Russ says:

@michael biggs I asked Matt via facebook when D-Town was back and he said we are recording a new show this week so keep an eye out for it next week, that was 3 weeks ago so who knows when it will be back but this is not the 1st time its been longer then the allagid 4 week break.

Just keep checking back here like I do but while I’m waiting for Scott & Matt I’ll just keep watch all my other favourite photography podcasts to keep me going :)

  518. Tomas Holmgren says:

agree with redhed17 you surely have a reason for not holding the schedule as planned and said in the video but give us a something so we know.

and thanks for your Uber super shows u roxx

  519. redhed17 says:

What are these other photo podcasts of which you speak Russ? ;-)

Doesn’t seem to be much happening here sadly. :-(

  520. Mike says:

    OK boyz…seriously…WT?????

“we’ll be back in one month” ??? Great…but exactly which MONTH and YEAR were you referring to?

How about at least recognizing your readers are asking questions about when you plan to return and respond to us….or is that stuff about “we read all the posts” just a lot of smoke and mirrors?

Looking forward to seeing you soon – from a supporter that truly does love your stuff.

    Cheers,
    M.

  521. Guys, WHERE ARE YOU??????????
Don’t keep us waiting any longer please.

He normally updates his site 2 or three times a week.

    Gavin Hoey
    http://www.gavtrain.com/

Just waiting for Scott & Matt to come back so as I can get my full fix of weekly photography stuff :)

  523. Russ says:

    @redhed17

By the way there are plenty of archive stuff on those other sites to catch up on.

  524. ArthurNava says:

Seriously people take it easy, if they come back, they come back. If they don’t, they don’t. They owe us nothing, I would go so far as to say we owe them. So if they want to take 2 months off instead of 1, so be it. I’m sure they have a million other things to do with all the books and other websites they run, so like I said take it easy.

More info on the show on Scott Kelby’s blog, http://www.scottkelby.com.

    • r says:

I always take it easy, :-) but having been a viewer since episode one, I assumed the chaps cared more about their viewers. They can of course take as long as they want to produce a new episode, they can even not do any more episodes, or as in the link you posted, allude to changes to the format, but whatever they decide to do, it would be nice to keep the viewers informed. It takes five minutes to write a paragraph saying what their plans are and putting it on the front page. And no, they don’t have to do it, but it would at least be considerate to their viewers.

  525. Russ says:

    @redhed17

Sorry mate I didn’t ignore your question, I did list those other podcasts for you but they were taken out by the mod. :(

  526. Russ says:

Whoops silly me I skipped past my reply, its still waiting to be moderated :) Sorry.

    • redhed17 says:

Thanks for trying Russ. I thought with the comments being seemingly ignored, it wouldn’t be a problem.

The comments seem to be monitored, but ignored. :-(

  527. Jonh Canlas says:

    gonna miss you guys!!

Jonh all the way from Vancouver BC :)

  528. Ben says:

    from http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2011/archives/16644, posted on Feb 4 :

    Q. When is the new Season of D-Town TV going to air?
    A. OK, you have to keep this under wraps, but it’s been delayed a few weeks because we are launching an awesome new show in the next couple of weeks that I think you all will love. I can’t reveal all the details yet, but in the meantime it looks like D-Town TV will kick off its new season next week, but with some changes, which will be revealed in that first episode. It’s all good stuff, so stay tuned.

    Cheers, Ben

  529. Hi
    Great show as always guys!

  535. Great Show, Thanks for being out there!

    Pax et Bonum!

    G.

  536. Joe Ford says:

    I’m suffering from dTown withdraw.

  537. redhed17 says:

Thanks Russ, the links finally appeared. ;-)

And so we go past 2 months since the last episode and still no official word here. :-(

  538. Love the show!

Can you cover battery packs for studio lighting?

  539. Bob_is_waiting_for_Episode_64 says:

Where are you guys. Four weeks is turning into 9 weeks!

  540. Gary says:

So, no more episodes I guess?

  541. Michelangelo says:

    Guys, see A @ 562…

  542. Dont’t take six and a half weeks off again please! I need another episode!

  543. OK. I promise you’ll see a show in the next week. We re-recorded yesterday. Sorry, but we had to change a few things. You’ll get the full scoop when the new show comes out.

    Thanks! :)

    • Jeff B says:

Matt Thanks for the update. Can’t wait for the new shows.

      • Terry says:

FANTASTIC! See you next week guys. Looking forward to your NEW show.

      • redhed17 says:

Thanks for the update Matt, would have been nice 5 or so weeks ago though. You and Scott can’t have been that busy to stop you taking two minutes to post an update.

Sounds ungrateful I know, but I really enjoy the shows (have done since ep1) and would have liked to have been kept informed about the next air date and any delays, however vaguely, no need to go into specifics. Just a message to say that a new episode would arrive, and a rough eta.

      • Terry says:

Great News to hear you’re coming back soon.

  544. Henrik says:

    Greetings from Sweden
