Episode Summary
“Live” from NYC at the B&H store — the largest camera gear and equipment retailer in the world.
Join us for our first ever “live” one-hour episode of D-Town TV as we take you on a tour of the B&H store looking at the “hottest” lighting, lenses, cameras and printers available today. Matt Kloskowski shares a pre-processing tip in Photoshop, and Scott Kelby shows you a special studio tip using one light. Then it’s off to Larry Becker highlighting some economical, yet high quality, alternative light stands and tripods. Questions from the audience and from the folks on the live chat get answered. B&H gift cards will be given away too.
This was previously recorded on November 29th, 2010.

Thanks for posting this, guys! I really enjoyed the show on Monday, but I know I missed a few things. I was looking at the broadcast, and had the comment screen on the other monitor, so I was looking from one to the other.
Your Cyber Monday sale convinced me to get a NAPP membership! Hope to be a member for a long time.
Thanks,
John
loved the live show
how about another
more cheapshots
peace
wow, what a store, all I would need is a Guitar Center next door, a cafe in the middle and I wouldn’t have to go anywhere for a few days
very cool , I need to win stuff because im broke after buying my DS3
NYC is SOOOO far away, I’ll NEVER get there. Thanks for the tour. I remember one before with the little “basket delivery system”. My orders are by phone (NAPP) and I always get an expert to help with my order. Hawaii doesn’t get FREE shipping, but we do get HALF off which is very welcome. I do also try to buy locally when I can, but to walk around and TOUCH all those toys must be a real treat. Thanks for sharing. And remember, Kelby training hasn’t been to Hawaii in quite a while. Please come back. Vegas and Fla are a world away for this little island resident…. well, Big Island resident. JG
Good show guys.
What was the name and part # of the wireless flash triggers that Larry was showing during the B&H tour?
Nice show.
Hi Guys, great show, enjoyed the sports series.
This is a fantastic site. Just found it. The show format is great and informative. Can’t believe it took me so long to find you guys.
Thanks – Roisin
Fun show! Thanks!
Really enjoyed , glad to see Nellie looking soo good.. Gotta get to NYC. Wish I could have got this show live. and of course YOU GUYS ROCK. Thanks.
Hope to see in person what b&h is all about one of these days. The episode will tide me over until then. Thanks!
Wow, I never knew B&H is so big. Thanks guys for this amazing tour.
Cheers
Great show.
What do you think about GPS ?
It would be great, if you could talk on a show about GPS using with fotoequipment.
@Scott: Today I ordered your book about your Lightroom workflow.
good as always
Great show. I like the longer format.
I’m scheduling my next vacation around a B&H trip!
I wonder if they can scatter my ashes in the lens dept? I could not watch the live feed, can I still win? Take the gift card out of Matt’s pocket and send it to me please.
Floof and run
Shawn
Great show guys
Would love to win!
Those of us on the left coast who have jobs never get to see your live podcasts live! How about throwing us a bone once in a while?
Spooky Scott appearance just before he’s due around the 20min mark. Otherwise great show. Hey there’s a little camera shop just round the corner here if you wanna do your next show from there.
What was the manufacturer name and part number of the 16 channel flash trigger system that you showed at about 38 minutes into the video? I’m interested, but not sure what to look for on the B&H website. Thanks!

LarrysCheapShots.com
Wow, what a store! I’m planning a trip down soon. great tips too, thx
Hey guys thanks for all the hard work you put into the show!
I have a question for you. I have watched ALL of your shows and haven’t seen this covered before, so here it is.
I recently purchased a 50mm 1.8
when I shoot portraits wide open it is hard for me to get sharp focus especially on the eyes. I shoot with a T1I and want to know if you have any focusing tips for me with this lens?
Also if you want to give me a b&h gift card… that would be swell
Thanks!
great show. one more reason to visit my son in nyc!!!
NIce show.
awesome episode. Wish they were all 60 min long! Now that I’ve moved back to NY, I can’t wait to visit B&H and spend a long time there!
Thanks for the show.. love it
You had my credit limit begging for mercy throughout the entire episode.
great show well done.
Fun show
Great show! Looks like I need to plan a trip to NYC to spend an entire day in B&H. I do not second the wish for longer show formats. I had to restart this replay 3 times and have yet to get to see beyoned 26 minutes because it just hangs up. I guess because I cannot get really high speed internet in my location.
I have been meaning to ask, do you post the names of weekly episode prize winners. I have put off buying Moose’s and Matt’s latest books in hopes of winning. Since I have not been notified, they are going on my Christmas Wish List. Love all your shows!
Although I watched this segment four days after the live broadcast I still found it interesting and informative. Now, how do I encourage my wife to send me to New York, from the west coast, for a shopping spree at B&H? Ahh, a spa trade-off, brilliant!
Thanks for yet another good show. Have you thought about doing one at the Adobe H.O.?
Hello guys, love the sow, as a general guideline to the past comment nice rules, im going to say something super nice, hope me to get on top to choose from LOL.
I got my christmas mad money and I am going to new york next weekend and yes I’ll be at B&H.Merry Merry Christmas. C U There.
Woo Hoo!
I did love the show but for all the free adds kelby has given B&H I am not happy with the cheap little table and backdrops b&H gave Larry and Scott.I think these guys should have stepped up to the level of scott kelbys broadcasts and delivered A more professional show
Great show. I hope I get there someday. Looking to buy the D7000 but it is unavailable. Will B and H let us know when they have it?
you guys rock, thanks for all you do
Great store – my favourite activity on my rare trips to NYC is to spend an afternoon in B&H.
and a great show !
From philippines with love, My daily dose of free photography tips and techniques. thank you for this free show!
Great show guys! Gutted I missed the live show
And also great tip from Matt on vignette.
Can I suggest to do a segment on strobe / flash modifier?
Hey guys, Is there a show where you talk about shooting 12 vs 14 bits? It affects the file size for sure but does it really make a difference in the color range, DOF or quality of the overall image?
Thx and keep up the great shows!
Awesome Guys, now i got to go to B&H for my birthday.Matt, I would like to know what mac computer u and scott uses? Plus what lens did u use to take the pics of the girl in the red dress? They came out great. Thanks Guys.
Great show
Awesome show guys. I sure wish I could get to NYC to see B & H. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and have a great holiday.
So thats whare all my money goes! Great show!
Awesome show guys, I can’t wait to get to B&H someday soon!
Unfortunately, I did not see the show live but it did enlighten me as to the immense size of B&H and what makes this store different from other photo stores. I have, through naivete, purchased a D700 at another store because of a promised lower price that was nothing more than a scam. It ended up costing me more than it would have it I had bought the camera at B&H. It was a lesson learned the hard way.
Great show as always guys.
U r gr8
Thanks for an unusual show. Nice change.
You walked by the iPad counter – how about a segment on the iPad and photography?
Great show
why don’t u make an episode about tripods
different choices according to the budget
i think it’s a big topic and worth a separate episode
great show guys have to go to NYC
Great Show! B&H is unbelievable!
Hey Scott and Matt, will you do a show with emphasis on the differences with all the fash modes ie. slow sync, front curtain, rear curtain, etc. using different shutter speeds and apertures.
You guys are great and I watch every show and I also belong to NAPP and Kelby Training because of DtownTV.
Do I ever need to make a trip to NY. Great show!!
wow , to say the least
This is so cool, hope this will be an annual thing.
I was hoping you guys would post this.
Thanks!
Hey Scott and Matt, I was watching episode #50 and have a question about reducing the file size.
When you pick a lower resolution in the camera, does it use less of the sensor… or use the whole sensor and combine pixels? If the latter, does that improve your low light sensitivity… as bigger pixels would?
Thanks
Dave
Despite my personal astoningly bad experience with B&H, this was an enjoyable show. And nicely produced. Thanks.
Hey thanks guys for posting this live show here.
I am very much new to dtown tv, i saw all the episodes in last 2 days straight… its awsome…. and yeah uts FREEE….
I have already subscribed for these shows
thanks and keep them coming….
oh yeah last but not the least… You Guys Rock!!!
ruks
Great idea with this show would like to see something similar done Europe in a near future
OK… enough already. This episode has been up and running long enough. Those who want to see it have seen it. Let’s get on with a new episode.
thanks for the tour…been thinking about getting another lens and was going to buy new but then you guys reminded me of getting used and it looks like they have my lens and a substantial price difference from new….gotta save money where I can..thanks again
I do a lot of online shopping from B & H great store. I have a tip for Larry I have made a lot of light stands by using cement in a paint can and a pipe or stick embedded in it. Using a c clamp to hold things in place.
BH looks awesome, thanks for the tour!
B&H is like Disneyland for photographers!
You guys rock! Always a great show, but I do have a question. I recently did a wedding with my Canon T1i. Although I got great images and there all relatively sharp, some of the images shot at 100 ISO have a bit of noise. I was using 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 is. what can i do to keep this from happening?
time for a shopping trip to New York $$$$
You guys are still rocking!
It is December 9th @17:19 in PDX time…..
I can hardly wait for the next show!!!
B&H is reminds me one of those crazy stores in Akihabara!
Fun show. Some day…..
Whenever I can get into NYC I always try to do two things: get tickets for a Broadway show and spend several hours at B&H. (I don’t buy onsite, however, because the NY sales tax is a killer, but it’s great to actually see and feel the products up close before ordering online.
I wish you had mentioned/shown the conveyer belt system that B&H uses to send down store purchases from the warehouse above the selling floor. It’s a great example of logistics at work.
Hope to see you guys at PSW in Orlando!
John
Hi. Great show. I have re-watched it and am still looking for any of my questions to show up in the comments…and they didn’t. They looked like they went through, but I never saw them. Are there comments and questions that just didn’t make it because of time or did I do something wrong? Thanks so much!
Useful info on cameras as usual
I normally love the show and have watched since episode 1- but an hour advert for B&H – no thanks
Nat
Good job as always guys….
Just watched this episode. Good stuff. I’ve only been to NYC twice and each time the only purpose was to visit the B&H store.
DTown TV and B&H – What a combo! Great show!
I agree with the other comments – what a great idea!
Nice place ^)
wow, B&H is really huge! If I go to NY I’ll definately visit.
Great show guys!
I love your shows. I watch them every week and miss them when you are taking a deserved break. But, when you guys are showing a lense or accessory, please stop moving your hands so much. We can’t see the item you are holding if your hands are moving so much.
Thanks
I guess D-Town stands for Dead Town after way over a month off the air!
Hey where are you – please come back. I need my DTown TV fix!! Cheers guys
Where are you?
