Loved these past two segments. Would appreciate some tips on shooting powersports (ATV/Motocross). I think a lot of what was covered here applies, but any tips on shooting in this particular field would be really help.

  11. Reuben Neese says:

Great tips, keep em coming!… For free:)

But why not Shutter priority? If your goal is 1/1000th/s sounds like S would be the right way to go.

    • Ole Johan says:

Shutter priority is great for keeping the shutterspeed you want, but the problem will be that the camera might push the aperture up. And we want to keep it as low as possible.

      • Bob says:

Why not Manual mode then? This way you can control aperture and shutter speed and the camera will adjust the iso accordingly.

  12. Thedkar says:

Larry spent too much money for his Diffusion material. Lol.. I’ve been cutting up the MPIX packing protection sheets and using them for diffusion. Seem to be working out ok. Another Awesome show.

  25. Dan says:

Ouch. I have a Canon 5D MKII. I guess I can only shoot enough frames per second to capture old ladies in rockers if they rock slowly. Thanks for all the great info as always.

  26. Steve U says:

Moose gave a good introduction to the AF modes however I imagine there are a lot of details that go into choosing which mode works best in different cases. Maybe you could go into more detail on AF area and focusing modes and when to pick which option. As usual a great show!

  51. Brandon says:

    Great show

  52. thanks for another great show!!

  53. Fredrik says:

    Good show!

Maybe going through, like, the 10 most common mistakes would be a good starting point for one or more shows. You know, starting with showing e.g. the fuzzy (or what ever) immage followed with an explanation on what went wrong and why etc etc.

    All the best

    /F

  57. I love these shows, you guys are great and the price fits nicely into my photography budget. I Must Capture the Moose.

  58. Thanks guys. Be interested in your take on stacking photos for extreme depth of field as Photoshop now helps with. Particularly in terms of the size changes when one tries to take that column of shots for close ups, macro or micro photography.

  59. Brian Baker says:

My posts aren’t showing up! Dang it, no prize for me.

  64. Jack says:

Great tips on shooting sport photography but I wonder how memory cards play a role in buffering capability, etc.? And, as long as you are discussing memory cards what about the do’s and don’ts of memory card useage?
Our camera club members are great fans of you folks and, of course, almost all things NAPP. The enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks

  65. Another great cheap shots! Keep up the good tips!

  66. Bob Thomas says:

Appreciate your time and attention to requests. One thing I would like to know is how to remember to reset your camera before an event. I have missed numerous shots in the first half of a game before I realized I had not reset from my previous shoot. Any help appreciated.

  67. heeke says:

I can’t get the math that give you ISO4000 when going up one EV step from ISO1600.
Should be ISO3200, right? OK, ISO3200 and ISO4000 is not that big of a differens but anyway.

  68. Lindsay says:

I like Moose — he fits in very well with you both.

  77. Robert Stockdale says:

Great 2nd part to the sports photography topic. Looking forward to seeing next week’s conclusion (?).

Another interesting topic would be macro photography. With it, any tips that you have on how to set up the equipment without scaring away the insect, lizard, etc.

  78. paul dennis says:

Hi great show what settings lenses etc for boxing ringside near as you can get to it maybe 2-10 feet cheers paul.

  79. Mathew Niese says:

    you guys are great!!

  80. Martin Fife says:

Another great show Guys! Thanks for the sports shooting tip – just what the doctor ordered!!

  81. Although I’ve never been a sports shooter, I find the shows interesting. Will look forward to the next episode.

  82. Terry says:

Nice episode. One little CRITICISM… don’t wear black. It’s really difficult to see the black cameras and lenses. Wear a nice blue or white instead. I know, I know… but get over yourselves in black (especially Scott). You have an audience to think about. I STILL REALLY LIKE THE PROGRAM.

  83. You guyz Rock!

I’m thrilled that you all are doing tips for sports shooters. I’m a pro sports shooter myself and thought I’d pass along a tip of my own. Concerning rain gear for your camera body and lens, instead of buying expensive gear like Think Tank sells, you can go to Wal-Mart (which I did two years ago on a tip) and buy a pair of rain pants, $20. One pants leg slides over the lens and body, and the other goes over the monopod and you gaffer tape the pants to the lens hood (I do it on my 400). It has worked just as well as the expensive gear on the market today.

Keep up the good work…Nikon rules!!

    -Patrick

  84. Richard Briggs says:

    Great show, you Rock!!

I would love to see a show on macro shooting. Equipment, lighting, field and studio work. Some do’s and don’ts. You get the idea. I can only imagine what project Larry could come up with for this shows theme.

    Thanks Guys

  85. Steven Chenard says:

    you guys rock!

  86. Carol Little says:

Another great show. I like the suggestion by Keith Schwartz that you post a settings guide. A guide that lists the basic settings for Sports, Wildlife, Scenic, Portrait, etc. would really be a help. Sounds like Moose has a lot of these tips in his new book. Would be nice to win the book. Otherwise, it will be on my “wish list”. Look forward to next week’s sports episode.

  87. Trask Smith says:

You guys Rock! (I’ll probably never stop typing that each week).

  88. Jason Liu says:

Great show as usual. Is that possible to have a topic on Macro? :) Thanks

  90. Eric Lam says:

Hey Guys, Yae new ep from you all! Thanks!

I came across this photographer’s site, his “mamika” section really cracks me up. Basically he got his grandma to act like a superhero. perhaps he could be featured one day too?

  110. Tyson Murray says:

Awsome work guys. I could use a book like that I live in the country, Petersburg, WV to be exact. people are to come by and that is what I am use to photographing. So maybe that book will help me capture something other than a person. Maybe a “rock” as mosse puts it

  111. Jeff Alter says:

    You guys rock

  112. Kemper says:

Enjoyed the episode. Would enjoy more on location segments. Thanks!

  113. Reply thing says:

Good stuff guys! Since you mentioned the D7000 and since I’m in the market for an upgrade to my D90 (girlfriend dropped my D90 w/ 70-200 attached) I was wondering if you could do a quick review and your thoughts on the D7000. Would be greatly appreciated!

  115. Wonderful show…..always learn something new.
    ; ‘)

  116. gmstudio says:

Moose, I bought your book, it rocks, best wildlife photography book ever.

Matt, I ordered “Layers 2nd Edition” on Kelby training, cannot wait to receive my signed copy.

    All the best

    Mark

  119. Sharon says:

Love the show–I shoot sports all the time–and I want that lens!
Sports–jpeg all the way! Can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

  120. Chuck Sider says:

    Learned alot . . . thanks.

  121. JD Smith says:

    Matt,
You are awesome with the info you know, I respect you, and hope you come to Seattle in the near future so I can partake in your world, but, and please take this with a grain of salt (and I say this respectfully), but when Scott is speaking, let him finish. There are quite a few times where you interject or finish his thoughts for him and I miss what Scott has said because you are talking at the same time.

    Damn, I lost my chance of winning Moose’s book didn’t I?! :-(

  122. Leon Kendrick says:

Another great show guys!! Looking forward to the “discussment” about JPEG vs Raw.

  123. Evan Rasmussen says:

I’m still hoping to win something.

Great Show.. Is it next week yet..

  130. Jim Hart says:

    Thanks guys.

I know it’s “DSLR” tv, but how about a segment on Four Thirds as a walk around alternative on days when one wants to travel light?

  131. Matthew says:

Always learn so much from the show. Thanks!

  132. Frank Milburn says:

Hi guys – I’m a wildlife photographer and I need Moose’s book. As for future topics, how about selecting gear for travel photography

  133. Jakob says:

    Hey Guys!
I’m a huge fan from Germany and I enjoy watching your show. There is only one thing, that I miss. Examples. Photographs. You talked a lot about different lenses and field of depth etc, but showing a picture shot with this special lens would be more than helpful.
I don’t know if it’s an english saying too, but in Germany we say “one image says more than a thousand words”.
So please show us some examples, when you talk about different techniques or gear.
    Thanks a lot!
By the way: This christmas I will treat myself with a membership on kelbytraining.com, and I’m really looking forward to spend my holidays watching a lot of episodes…
    Greetings from Germany
    Jakob

every episode its been “matt & scott”.
Think you should hold a contest to pick nicknames for you.

  144. John McLaughlin says:

    Good info!

  145. Ben Thomas says:

Love the sports-shooting theme of these shows, which is mostly what I’ve been doing (kids sports). Moving off into other themes might be pretty interesting as well. Hey – I already spent the $$$$ for the sports – what else might I do with it all.

  146. Daniel Rivera says:

Can’t wait for next weeks show!

  147. mauricio shular says:

    great show like always!!!

  148. Sean says:

Nice show. Now I just need a D3.

  149. Sandro Rizzi says:

I can only dream of getting my shutter speed as high as you recommend. The low and drastically poor lighting at most amateur boxing matches coupled with my old D70s with a 50mm 1.8, in manual mode with aperture at 1.8 affords me a max shutter speed of 1/250th at the most, @ max ISO. No flash allowed, so I can’t even pull out my SB900 to play with. Looking at the D7000 or D700, but my pocket book is having a hard time opening up.
Great show and thanks for the tips.

  150. Mattias Richter says:

    Great show as always!

  151. Rolando Garza says:

    Great Show!!!!

  152. Thanks guys. Great show.

    Thanks Guys.
    Great show.

  154. jose says:

Thank you for the great tips on camera settings. I look forward to the next show on photography accessories.

  155. Neil Glass says:

    Thanks some more!

Is there an email address for submitting a suggestion with a jpeg photo?

  156. Gary Graves says:

Thanks for telling us about Al Bello

  157. Chaz says:

As usual – thanks guys! I’d love a segment on macro lenses. What’s different, why might I want one, what to they do well and what don’t they do well?

  158. John Humble says:

    yeah

  159. Bob Martin says:

Love the sports show! Just need a D3 for those night football games :(

Hey, I’d love to watch from my ipad – any chance you’ll switch to html5 so I stop getting the darn flash messages?

  160. John Swarce says:

Another stellar show, guys. Larry’s section was very good, as always.

Just watched Moose on Kelby Training and I learned so much about shooting wildlife. Would love to win his book! Is he signing these, too?

    –John

  161. Paul Morgan says:

    Hi great show

  162. TJantunen says:

Great Show! Keep up the great work!!!

  163. Bill says:

I’m really glad you guys at least heard some of my cries about shooting sports. Hopefully in he next episode you will talk about which settings you are using, like metering mode you’re using or what is the best to use and what AF area mode are you using. As always a wealth of information that just help us amateurs get better. Hey Scott I’m still waiting for that contest from last year about shooting on the sidelines to be resurrected. Who cares what some of the other photographers say. You can have your friend Mike McCaskey, the owner of the Bears be a major part of this contest and if he says I will put you on the sidelines. It’s his team and he can do whatever he wants no matter what the other photographers might say. Keep up the good work and I look forward to next week.

  164. Jim Johnston says:

shooting sports shows have been great. Larry also continues to amaze

Great show guys. That Moose Peterson book is the book when it comes to nature photography.

  172. Dana Stiefel says:

Great show guys. One other comment for shooting sports – just like the athletes—practice, practice, practice.

  173. Marcin says:

    Nice show, folks.

  174. Jan Dawson says:

    I wanna get Moosed.
How about giving away some cheap lens, saaaay a 600 f4? ;-)

  175. Rasmus Hald says:

    great show as usual.
A comment: Why do you say that there is 1 stop from ISO 1600 to ISO 4000, that should be ISO 3200 right?

Btw, when I wrote this I could see all the details from the previous poster also he’s hidden email ( in Chrome )

    Thanks for a great show.

  195. Mark A Smith says:

Hi guys great job again, can you please do a review of the D7000 and when do you think the D300s will be replaced?

  204. Stephen Purton says:

Another great show, thanks to Moose for some great tips

  205. Alan Davidson says:

I am half way through reading Moose’s book. Yes it is a great photography book – but even more is his passion for using his skill as a photographer to support scientists working on understanding endangered species. You can be a great photographer, or a great biologist – but to be able to use both skills – truly unique.
    Alan

  206. sean lehan says:

    This is a comment!

  207. Great show as usual, look forward to next week.

  208. Erik, Sweden says:

    Great show! just love it.

  209. Geoff Wise says:

Hi Guys, another fantastic show. I like the idea of dedicating a whole show (or three) to one type of photography, how about doing the same for landscape photography?
P.S oh, and by the way, you guys rock!

  210. Dennis Smith says:

If I only had the $$ to buy the stuff you talk about! Enjoyable none the less.

  211. josie says:

    thank you for the tips…

  212. Interesting show enjoyed it

  213. Neil Smith says:

    Another great show guys!!

  214. mathew sawatzki says:

Hey guys I struggle to know where to focus when doing a group portrait and knowing what f stop to use so that everyone is in focus but I still blur the background so as to not distract from the subject.

  215. Sergey says:

    Thanks a lot!
    You are the best!

  216. Richard Kill 901373 says:

Matt…Why is the preorder of you Layers book still not here, when all of the book stores and mail order have them???????

  217. Rodger says:

I don’t shoot sports but I’m starting to shoot birds and this information is great! Can’t wait for next week.

  218. Shawn H says:

Another winner guys. Keep up the great work. I have been catching up on back episodes the last few days and I have to tell you, FLOOF AND RUN nearly made me drive off the road. That’s funny. And my wife accuses me of that all the time. Did you floof and run?

  219. Andy deBruyn says:

Thanks againl. Good show. Liked Moose bit a lot.
    Til next time.

  220. Bob Mielke says:

Love the show & my new D7000.

  221. hey guys!
keep up the good work, really like it.
however i have something to add:
    pre focus
i’m just a poor student so i can’t afford a 200-400 lens or something like that. so i use manual focus lenses. and after a bit of practice you are able to shoot basketball games without any autofocus with a hit-mis ratio of 1:1

so maybe you can mention it, because i’m shure that a lot of other poor students follow this show

  222. Steve Hawthorne says:

    Sports! Great Show.

  223. Scott Fritz says:

Thanks for all the good tips.

  224. Joe H says:

    Great show guys

  225. Episode #60–Glad to see somebody else needs a cheat sheet to help with all the different camera models. As usual, another great episode,

  226. Bill Wallendorf says:

    great!

  227. Bill Wallendorf says:

    Great show!

  228. Paul Howard says:

Who-dee-la-lee. (No idea what it means, heard it in a movie….) Great info. I also shoot very little sports, but terrific info for moving subjects.
Now, I need waaaay more lighting info, ’cause apparently I suck using off camera flash, umbrellas, and the like. Love to see a more in-depth show on that. Awesome work guys.

  229. Kevin Figueira says:

Great show, I love to shoot sports.

    Thanks,
    Don

  236. Dan Storck says:

Hey guys, it’s my turn to win something. I’ve never won anything in my life. Please! By the way you guys do a great job. Love the last two episodes on sport photography. A lot of what you talk about can be used in wildlife photography. Thanks

  237. Mark L says:

Hey, guys, great information on the choice of lenses and ISO in sports photography. I’m always learning something new from you. Thanks!

  238. sotiris_s says:

  239. Michael P. says:

    Very nice!

  240. Kim Oestergaard says:

Finally how to set the autofocus in real life nice :-)

  241. Wallace L. Ottersbach says:

    Thanks.

  242. Great idea to leave guest tip alone without introduction when he is long time guest like Moose. Little saving with time.

  243. Luis L says:

great show guys!! loved the cheap shots from Larry Becker.

  244. Patrick Dunne says:

    Great show on Shooting Sports

Great show. I like to see more about portrait photography…

  253. David Feldbruegge says:

    Hi!

  254. Great show guys, always nice to have these for a break from work. You mentioned the increased framerate when using the battery grip with the D300 and D700. Any idea if the same applies with the D7000? Can’t seem to find a definitive answer on this.

  255. Pat Martin says:

    Another great show.

  256. Eileen M. Murphy says:

Have you guys ever thought about doing a show on Lens Baby lenses?

    Eileen

  257. Andy says:

    Great show. Thanks.

  258. Fred Breitwieser says:

This Sports series is really great. Can’t wait until next week

  260. Nadine Moyer says:

    Awesome show, like always!
    I just turned 30 and I’m depressed…can I have the book, please? ;)

  261. Dennis Esler says:

Moose had a great segment about focus points. He talked a little about using the selector switch to switch from AT21 to Auto Area. Can you talk more about that?

    Thanks.

  262. Dan says:

    Captured… please please please me!

    You guys rock!

  263. Averil says:

Hey Guys, love your sense of humour! Sports photography, is my great passion. The adrenaline rush that you get from getting that one great shot of the game is amazing!! Thanks for the info. Can’t wait for the next part!!

  264. Brock Banks says:

Great information! I shoot my son’s gymnastics, as well as baseball, swimming etc…, and use a 70-200 mounted on a D200 with grip. I have been pleased with the D200 but the noise that is introduced as early as ISO400 really causes limitations to the action I am able to capture.

Needing to get a new body, your show today was a big help… since the problem shots are low light it looks like the D700 will be the winner. Thanks for all the information you provide!

  265. Fred Krieger says:

Great show again. For sports shots have you used the auto ISO feature (Nikon) to set a minimum shutter speed?

  266. Yoshinori Miyazaki says:

    Great show guys!

  267. Elmo says:

    You guys rocks!!

  273. Dave Harder says:

Great series what is your take on VR or IS for sports

    Thanks!

  274. Great show, as always. Thanks.

  275. Sheila M. says:

Another great how!! Loved Larry’s tip, of course, and thanks for all the info on sports shooting.

  276. Charlie says:

Great show, guys. Your sports photo info can also be applied to wildlife photography.

  277. Mirko says:

YAY!! Finally you decided to concentrate on different categories of photography. I hope that the next one is MACRO :)

P.S. the worst camera in the world for sports photography is Canon 1000D with 1.5fps in RAW-mode…

  278. Kurt Christoph says:

thanks for the tips your shows great

  279. Niels says:

Regarding FPS, I noticed on my camera that a number of settings influence the number of images that can be buffered. E.g. the high ISO noise reduction and the auto distortion correction. Disabling those increases my buffer; however, I am still a little below the advertised number of images that can be buffered (with both, shooting RAW and JPG). Do you know other settings that influence the number of images that can be stored in your camera buffer?

  280. Matt Steffen says:

    Great show.

  281. Terence O'Neill says:

On Nikon D3 series cameras, you can almost guarantee 1/1000 shutter by using AUTO ISO.
You set the upper & lower ISO and the minimum shutter and use Apurture Priority. The ISO will vary. If you reach the maximum ISO, only then will the shutter speed reduce – BUT YOU GET THE SHOT

  282. Dariusz Kanarek says:

Great show !!! I’ve seen every on-line class Moose did on Kelby training, can’t wait to read his book. :-)

  283. chuck barnes says:

    still available for nfl shoot!

  284. JeanetteG says:

Thanks for covering sports photography. I also love when you spotlight a different photographer each week a lot of great inspiration out there.

  285. Alan says:

Thanks for the show. Happy Turkey Day!

  286. Mats Jansson says:

    Great show.
Do some tutorial about big and small flashes.

  287. Fantastic. I´d like a tiltshift special.

  288. William Anderson says:

This is one of my fave podcasts. Maybe mention about monopods good or bad for sports shooting with a long lens.

    Thanks guys.

  289. Do you ever use auto iso when you are shooting sports?

  290. Chris says:

I don’t know why I’m just finding this now. I just watched my first episode and it’s awesome! Now I have 59 to catch up on!! Have you done any shows on Car Photography, with or without models? That’s my biggest challenge. Keep on rockin’ guys!!!!

  291. Ken Hunt says:

    Moose is my hero.

  292. Tony from Sweden says:

Thank you very much for your dedication and sharing your knowledge. Most things in life aren’t free or great…this show is both! :)

Also, just became a KelbyTraining subscriber and those courses are just amazing…you REALLY rock dudes! :)

  293. Like a couple others, I was wondering why you did not use ISO sensitivity setting to automatically adjust your ISO.

    Good show

  294. Vincent says:

Will there be a wildlife special by moose peterson?

  295. Stuart C says:

    Great show guys…would love to see a give-away on that 400 f2.8.

Show idea: I know you’ve talked about rain gear before, but when I see pro-level cameras, lens, and even flashes talking about moisture sealed, and weather resistant, are rain covers really needed for the pro level gear?

Also, what about shooting when it’s snowing? Do you need rain gear for that, or other considerations?

  296. Sam S. says:

    Another great show. Thanks.

  297. Rick Spitzer says:

You guys always come up with some great things to think about

  298. Tommy Brevard says:

I’m anxiously waiting for Larry’s 400mm f/2.8 out of a coffee can and stick!

  299. Matt Perkowski says:

Guys, another great show! Would you cover some more work on macro photography?

  300. Lydia says:

    Hey guys,
great show. Could you do a show or two on macro photography? The lenses, how to light small things, etc?

  301. John Woods says:

Ready for the next episode when you are!

  302. Robert Gould says:

Great show! Man I’m looking forward to seeing Larry make that 400mm 2.8 out of a coffee can and a stick.

  303. Jyrki says:

    Great show!
    Moose rocks!

  304. cliff mills says:

Scott, mention how to set the auto ISO feature in the cameras. Thanks.

  305. Mike Kambourian says:

Most of your gear you show is black, I wish Scott wears white shirts just like Matt did on this episode. Thank you Matt. The contrast is really needed between the cloths and the gear.

  306. BILL GATES says:

I’d really love to capture Moose’s new book in your drawing!

  307. joe nieto says:

Ur show is excellent,,,many good ideas and thoughts,,,ur show has been very helpful to me,,,,keep up the goof work

  308. Mel says:

    Great tips. Thanks again.

  309. monkeyinabox says:

I’m hopefully that high ISO performance continues to improve. There’s really no reason to think it won’t , so that the need for expensive lenses isn’t really needed unless you want a shallow depth of field at shorter focal lengths.

  310. Brian Kruger says:

Super info on cameras! Just reinforces my desire for the Nikon D 700. Thanks.

  311. Bear says:

Thanks for the great show. As an Athletic Director, I’m always taking pictures of my athletes at games, so the tips on sports photograhpy was very helpful. If only I could afford a D3.

  312. Geoff says:

    very helpful, as always. thanks.

  313. Edmond Gee says:

Didn’t know Matt had any white shirts. ;-)

  314. Barry Turner says:

You guys look like you have a lot of fun making the show. How about showing a few bloopers (safe for work ones, naturally), one time.

  315. Robert Groves says:

    Excellent shows of sports photos.

  316. Christian Martin says:

    Another great show!

  317. david wilson says:

  318. Carol says:

Great show guys. I learn something from each one. Keep up the great work.

  324. debbie says:

Looking forward to next week…& I’m off to kinkos

  325. Luke Diep says:

    Awesome show as always!

  326. Mike Bowen says:

    Hey Guys,
I bought a monopod a few years ago for use during sports photography. I’ve tried it a few times and despite the fact that it’s just a stick, I still haven’t gotten comfortable with it.
During your sports photography show, I think it would be nice if you could spend a minute giving monopod tips.

  327. Matt C. says:

Great offer guys. I’d love to hear more on flash photography. Thanks.

  328. Gary fugate says:

Great show about iso and frames/sec. How about a section on tripods and ball heads for hiking or general purpose use?
    Thanks

  329. Guillaume says:

Greetings from Sweden! I guess another great show (haven’t look at it yet)

  330. Keith Maguire says:

    great show!

  331. Moein says:

I’m a Canon shooter, and didn’t try Nikon yet. Wondering what are the main differences, except Video which is not important for me.

  332. Andria L. says:

  335. walt biegon says:

    good job guys,what about polorizers

  336. Carol Holley says:

Please pick me to win the Moose Peterson book or else
I’ll have to go buy it!!
Also, what’s inside that flash head and what’s it doing when it goes brrrrrt and what does it mean to the the flash whether you’re shooting at 28mm or 200mm?
Thanks for shining light on these little mysteries.

  337. marcus grip says:

    Hello gentlemen!

I would really like to hear about how you got this far and what did you think was the most important thing or moment that made you to a great photographer that is contributing to this with Napp, kelbytraining, Dtown, photoshop world and all.

I want to hear your photo story!

    Peace from Sweden :D

  338. James Humphries says:

    Great class

  339. Ken Schram says:

Hi Guys. Were was Scott this episode. Couldn’t see him behind that giant 400mm :) . Great show once again. Still haven’t received that lens I was going to win, but I’ll probably be back next week anyway.

  340. Rafael Curty says:

    Great series on sports photography!
Looking forward to next week’s episode.

    Later!

  341. Jasn says:

Great cheap shot segment; I will have to stop by office supply store.

  342. Rafael Curty says:

Why do my comments never get registered?
    I wonder why…

  343. Sterling says:

    Great show. Thank you.

  344. Ron Blair says:

Larry you’re the cheapest guy I know, I love it!!!

  345. Chua says:

Hi! Great show! I was hoping that you guys would share a little bit more about Canon’s settings as well.

  346. Doug Sundseth says:

Straightforward and to-the-point advice. Nicely handled.

  347. Brett Emerson says:

Great show guys. I shoot sports photography more than anything and this info is invaluable. Thanks.

  348. Marcel Travella says:

    great show.
I would like to see more shows on nature.

How to prepare, organize photo shoots etc..
    Thanks
    Marcel

  349. Rena Beavers says:

Awesome show and I hope to hear more on what you guys think of the D7000

  350. Michelle says:

Another great show. Thank you both!!

  351. Scott says:

Moose me! Or, just keep doing the great shows. Have you done a segment on sensor cleaning options?

  352. Maciek says:

Great show as always. Thanks Guys!

  353. Great! Look forward to next week’s episode and the next series on WILDLIFE?
    cheers

  354. Mark Hopgood says:

Great show. I shoot mainly wildlife so the gear and settings are similar. With the Nikon I was able to use auto ISO where I could set a minimum SS using a variable ISO where I could set the upper limit.
Using my D700 I set the SS to 1/1000s with ISO 3200 as the maximum and it worked well.

  355. LJ says:

    Will try Larry’s flash tips.

  356. Rob Gordula says:

I can only shoot at f1.4, ISO 3200 with my D90 everytime my son plays basketball.

  357. Mike R says:

    Good show, guys.

That part in the frames per second conversation, starting at about 2:15 or so, describing a time when you’re standing next a guy shooting at 10 fps (“gizzgizzgizzgizzgizzz”–wasn’t sure on the spelling) when you’re shooting at 4 fps? I can totally relate. That very thing happened to me a couple days ago while shooting in Seattle on a cold, rainy, windy day…serious camera envy. ;)

  358. Uri says:

    Great show, as usual!!

  359. Kenny Lee says:

Great show. Loved Larry’s cheap shots, and the sports tips. Keep up the good work.

  360. emilio b says:

    I want Captured

  361. Richard Mark says:

wow great tips thank you guys.

  362. Denny Veldhuis says:

Love the idea of showing what is needed for sports. It would be great to take that concept and do a few shows the same way about other subjects. Like maybe wildlife, landscape, macro, portrait, wedding, family photos as well.

  363. Ivan Smyshlyayev says:

    Hi guys,
Aperture priority for sports? That was a new thought for me :-)
Well, if light is changing across the field or over time and you want the highest possible shutter speed at the given noise level (i.e. ISO) – that’s the way to go.
Thanks for the great show, as always!

  364. Tommy says:

    “Captured by D-Town TV” ;)

  365. Brent Coe says:

hi great to see Moose sedment hope to see more tips from him.

  366. Drew Sumrell says:

you guys are making me want to go try some sports photography. good stuff

  367. JOCK says:

We all know the show rocks. I’m so glad I saved up for the Nikon D3s as it has saved my butt on many an occasion. I am serious sports and events shooter and the best piece of advice I can give has already been mentioned. Practice practice practice. Don’t expect to get into big pro events for a LONG time. The athletes didn’t wake up one day in the NFL or even college ball.. Neither will you. Start with your local little leagues and Pop Warner and H.S. events. Shoot shoot shoot. Then save save save then ask ask ask and give give give back. Someday you will get a break.
P.S. I practice panning with slow shutter speeds by shooting cars on the road, bicycles, anything moving etc. THAT is one skill that truly has to be PRACTICED to get a good success rate. Showing action isn’t always 1/1000 sec. oh, yeah, Moose’s book would be welcome too.
Mahalo plenty ….. bring a seminar back to Hawaii.

  368. Lars A says:

Great show – can I have one of those 400mm f2.8 lenses please :-)

  369. Marco Gaspar says:

I’m really “Captured” ;) by your shows. Congratulations and keep up the excellent work.

  370. Brian says:

Once again, great show. Off to the HS Basketball games I go.

  371. Barbara says:

Hi Guys, Great show… Loved the info. on settings for indoors etc. I have a Nikon D200 and afraid I’m stuck with that camera body for awhile and the kit lens. However, I was wondering if you will be doing a segment on weddings and outdoor portraits using Nikon Flashes. More details on settings of the cameras and focusing etc. Just like the Sports Segment you are doing now. Thanks! Any chance on winning a few months or longer of the Kelby Training?

  372. David Olshan says:

Great stuff as usually. I think I need to save some coins for the $5200 D3s and the $8000 2.8/400mm. Do you need to be a good photographer with that gear? Sometimes I wonder.

  373. lee says:

    Great show on sports.

  374. Scott Holmes says:

That book will be a great addition to my collection, great show as usual

  375. M. Warzoné says:

Love the Larry Becker tip this week.

  376. Jason says:

Thank you for all of the great tips every week! You guys should do a show on copyright for photographers. I manage image rights for an art museum, and I see this as a fundamentally confusing to most photographers looking to get into the business. I’d love that book by Moose, too!

  377. Luis Gomez says:

Please, I have been asking for the ability to watch your videos on the iPad, but seems that you people are Adobe partners or like “payola”… Everytime I want to see your video, I have to wait ’til I get home. That’s not fair…

    • Tim L says:

Yeah. It’s definitely Kelby’s fault and not Apple’s for blocking a technology that is used by 97% of web surfers worldwide. Still…wish Kelby would dump the VP6 codec and embrace h.264 like the rest of the world. So I’m kind of with you even though I detest Apple apologists.

  378. Neca says:

Hi guys! Can i Have it ?

  379. Tim L says:

Send me the book. Send me the book. Send me the book!

  380. Rick Fight says:

Another good show. Loved the tip from Moose.

  381. Richard says:

Guys it was good to see this episode appear promptly on iTunes. Episode 59 took a week to get there.

  382. David says:

    I want Captured!

  383. IraE says:

    Thanks for the tips!!

  384. Hamish Carpenter says:

Great show guys – I want to learn sports photography and you provide great information to help understand the confusion

  385. Hamish Carpenter says:

    Hi
I have a question: even though I am on AF-C, why do I still get blurry shots when I am shooting sports? Isnt AF-C supposed to track the player or subject and get me focused shots?

    http://www.buzzfeed.com/itscalledcreativity/how-to-make-a-900mm-lens-or-as-the-non-photo-buff-14n5

    Keep up the good work

  442. Mark Luftig says:

The two shows on sports were great. Any more help if you have (as I do) a low end camera like the D5000 for indoor sports?

  443. Phi says:

Another use of a high frame rate (other than sports) is in HDR photography without using a tripod. Because the camera cycles through the bracketed shots at a high speed, there is little movement in the subject between shots, allowing the camera to be hand held for many subjects.

  444. Jason Reinhardt says:

    Great show…very humorous!

  445. tim johnson says:

another great show. love watching and learning
    good job!.

Do you guys talk about af on button when shooting sports I know a lot of people liked using that.

  451. Steve Clark says:

Yet another great show. Can you ship me the 400 2.8? I guess I’ll settle for the book too. ;-)

  452. Jim Paris says:

Great topic and discussion. Would love to have the Moose book

  453. Christian W says:

Please folk, SHOW MORE EXAMPLES. You talk a lot about differences between lenses and methods. Show us what you mean, show pictures of a “good” shot and of a “bad” shot, so we can SEE and understand more what you want us to understand.
As always, nice show. Thank you.

  458. Love the show… I would really enjoy winning a copy of Moose Peterson’s book ; Captured ;-)

  459. Matt says:

I really should have posted this for the last show, but what is an ideal weight rating for a monopod when shooting some of the larger glass? I suppose there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to a lens that costs more than my car, but what is a good ballpark?

  460. Geo Kunju says:

    Great tips! Keep them coming….

  461. Chris W says:

Questions-Do you use back focusing button for sports photography?
As a follow up to Sports Photography- what additional equipment for wildlife photography which obviously leads me to winning Moose’s new book!!
Thanks for the continued great shows.

  462. Bob says:

    Very useful advice. Thanks!

Scott, a general comment – you like wearing black. But if you hold a black camera or lens in front of you, it’s awfully hard to see. Another color shirt – or holding the object to the side – would be helpful.

  463. chris carpenter says:

i need an episode on things for keen ametures and all round photography stuff nature wildlife is important to me

  464. john zingali says:

Matt, How are you coming along with the updated sharpening video? I am looking forward to seeing it and learning something. By the way, shows are excellent.

  475. Doug Rose says:

  478. Mike van Scherrenburg says:

You guys not only rock, you rock and roll! Congratulations on making it to your 60th episode. This just has to be a ton of work, and al, for our benefit.

Please remember to mention setting minimum shutter speed in auto-iso, a trick I use on my D90 for my son’s baseball games, that has saved me a few times. A sharp grainy capture beats the alternative every time.

Also, please put my name in the hat for the Moose book.

    Thanks!

  479. Jesper Andersson says:

    Hi guys.

    great show.

    Great show, thaaaaaaanx alot

  494. redhed17 says:

Great show chaps. Seemed to go to quickly, so it must have been good. ;-) lol

I don’t know whether it has been mentioned in the comments so far (there are too many to read), or whether you will mention it in the show next week, but some cameras have an an Auto ISO mode where you can set a minimum shutter speed and the camera will only raise the ISO when it can’t achieve the minimum shutter speed. This allows you not have to worry about raising the ISO yourself and let the camera vary the ISO to use the lowest setting it can but still give you the (say) 1/1000th second shutter speed you desire. I used it on holiday to give at least 1/80th sec when walking in and out of the dark narrow streets of Venice and it worked great. Meant I didn’t have to keep adjusting the ISO and let me concentrate on taking the pics. :-)

  495. Lee says:

    I would love Moose’s book

  496. elijah says:

    awesome show!

  497. Pete says:

Hi Guys, thanks fo the great show. I confess I couldn’t suppress a big grin at around 15:00, when Scott announced, that next week’s show would also be contributing to this “two-part series”. I’m stil remembering your “two-part-series” on lenses from back in the long gone days when DtownTV was a Nikon-only-show…

    Greetings from Germany.

  505. Great show, can’t wait for the next one…

  506. Jan says:

    Great show!
Hey, how about a tutorial about baby / kid photography on kelbytraining.com? I know you guys are constantly surrounded by beautiful models in their 20′s but I think most of us just have cats, dogs… and kids.

  507. elmer tobias says:

    Hi Scott & Matt!

I can’t wait for your next episode.

    thanks!

As always, looking forward to next week.

  521. jim smith says:

  528. Great show! What about a macro photography special, like this sports photography .

  529. Andrew Renkert says:

Terrific show. Keep up the good work!

  530. Iulian says:

If your camera shows Hi in Aperture Priority it doesn’t mean to high for your camera to calculate. Just too high for your shutter to work. It is a little better with Canon with ISO 100.

  531. William Near Chicago says:

Great Show … as always! Here is a great idea for a show. How about macro photography. Ring flash, macro lenses, close up lenses etc. Advantages of the 60mm, 100mm, 150mm, macro lenses. Also, I would like that book of Moose Peterson’s…Thank you

Hey guys, great job, although I would say three episodes about sports photography is too much for those who even don’t watch sports, let’s forget find it an inspiring photo subject :) . How about some great advice on lighting products or food?

Great show guys! Looking forward to the next one.

  544. Ron Moore says:

Ok, now I sit here looking at my brand new Canon 300mm f 2.8 and you guys are talking about the 400mm……now I have lens envy!

Idea for show……recently I was asked to shoot a musical by a local Opera company. The exec dir set me up in the audience to shoot. Everybody was aware I was there except the conductor who stopped the performance right in the middle of the show… I was shooting a 7d and Canon Mark III ( the noisy offender) any ideas to muffle the sound of the camera?

Photography is great hobby to enjoy!

    thanks

  561. Lars Johansson says:

    Great show as always!

  562. Denmark here! U guys rock ;-)

    Q:
I have a license for Adobe PS CS5.
I am cosindering buying Lightroom3 or Nik Software Complete collection.
I do not have endless funding, so i have to buy either one or the other.
The big Q is which one?
I’ve tried both and love them, but which one will give my post-processing a boost?

    ;) Lars

  563. Mike Stephenson says:

    Hi,
Love the show. Have you thought about a show on profiling. Namely monitor, camera and printer. Looking at what is available and reviews of equipment used

  564. Hey guys, living and working in Tanzania. Love watching through it takes me hours to download on slow internet. If you ever want a driver for an african safari, I’m your man! Moose can come too if he wants. Just got to shoot 5 lions and a buffalo kill last week, and boy did i butcher the shoot. Pun intended.

  565. Ahmed Taman says:

    Hi,
Thanks for all of that efforts which you are doing it for Us.

i am asking you to start selling a T-shirts with (D-Town TV) logo and ship it to the full world

i am here in KSA, Riyadh
asking for a black T shirt same like Kelby

    D-TOWN TV RULES!!

  569. Tom Sego says:

Living in the north. Well Michigan that is not Canada. We are well into fall with winter just around the corner. In fact we are told snow on Thanksgiving Day. Can you do a show on weather protection for you camera. You know hot, cold, rain and snow.

  570. Harry says:

  573. Derrick says:

Thanks for another great show guys. Any chance of getting some tips on where to get the best shots? I mean where to be on the field, court, etc.

Thanks again. And of course you guys rock!

  574. CTB says:

    Prime or zoom?

  575. Yariv says:

If max aperture is needed (logic) and also at least 1/1000s, and taking into account that due to conditions it is unlikely to go faster than 1/1000s, why not use M-mode with max aperture and 1/1000s and let auto ISO adjust the ISO, if one has a good high ISO camera…?

  576. Steve Bark says:

If you have to shoot at f2.8 @ 1/1000 for sports, why not set these values in manual mode and set your ISO to auto to control the exposure. If you’re shooting with one of the great cameras mentioned, surely you don’t mind if the ISO sneaks above 1000.

  577. Phil Berg says:

Cannot wait until next week’s sports tips. Thanks, Guys!!

  578. Daniel Prickett says:

You guys are going to send me to the poor house!! But I will be able to take good photos there!!! :-)

  579. Gene Thorpe says:

As always some great info. I have a question about focus, is there any settings in camera that will effect the focus in a negative way? It seems that sometimes no matter what I do to ensure a good focus and even though the settings should be right I still have blurr and in some cases even on a tripod. I have had my camera and lens calibrated but no problems were found. So I thought that maybe I was working against myself with some of the settings working against each if thats even possible. I shoot Canon 50D and most of the time its good. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

  580. Joe Kotva says:

You mention shooting sports with the lens wide open. I get the reasoning, except: (1) even with the best lens, wide open is seldom as sharp as one stop down, and (2) with a long, fast lens, wide open means next to no depth of field (so narrow in fact that part of the athletics’s own body can end up out of focus). What are the trade offs of stopping down one or two steps and then using higher iso and slower shutter speed?

  581. Dan says:

    thanks for the tips

  582. Great show as always! Thanks!

  596. stu murphy says:

  598. Ron Weikle says:

  607. Elliot says:

I’m not much of a sports photographer, but still interesting.

Any tips for shooting unusual sports? When I do sports, I tend to do fencing. First, getting in focus is tricky since the uniforms are all white. Secondly, fencing strips are grouped together. The furthest I can get away is between 1 and 4 meters, depending on where on the strip people are. Any tips for dealing with these issues?

  608. Johnny says:

    More good info as usual.

  609. Lori J says:

Great show. Another great prize you could give away (and I am willing to sample it for you to be sure it’s a good idea that would work) is a session with Moose or Scott or Matt on location in Tampa.

  610. Great timing! I shot my first major college basketball game this week. Also, you guys give away some great prizes. But how about a 1 year subscription to Kelby Training? It would make a great Christmas gift for a busy college student :)

  611. Gary Munroe says:

Nice show.. more on what you do in specific situations would be more nicer! :)

  612. Bruce says:

    Great show guys!

    Guys –

Great show as usual! Do you have any tips for shooting ice hockey. The rinks generally have inconsistent lighting but I tend to use my Nikon 70-200 2.8 but usually have to push the ISO on the D700 quite a bit….any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  623. shelly says:

    Larry Becker is genius!

  624. michael says:

I great show you don’t need a top priced camera To shoot sports there’s a lot of decent second hand cameras do this I have a D2H sectors to minimum of five frames maximum 40 this is because of below file size
    Mike

  625. John Richardson says:

  627. Dan Liddiard says:

I would love to win Moose Peterson’s Guide to Wildlife Photography. That would be awesome!

  628. Kevin Holt says:

I’ve always shot JPEG and went with the get it right in the camera philosophy but after hearing you guys talk about RAW so much I finally decided to give it a shot and my images looked terrible which I expected because nothing had been applied to them but the problem is I couldn’t get them to look anywhere near as good as the JPEG version after messing with them for a long time in Lightroom. I shot a bunch in the desert and the JPEGs were nice an warm and rich and any shadows weren’t too harsh but the RAWs were washed out with harsh shadows, etc. and I could never get them to look as good as the JPEGs no matter what I seemed to do in Lightroom. What am I missing? Also the initial view of he RAW files in Lightroom looked awesome like the JPEGs but as soon as I opened them they changed to the washed out harsh versions. Why is that? Does the camera make processed thumbnails that Lightroom uses initially? I kept wanting to go back to the thumbnail version because it looked so much better. At this point I am ready to go back to JPEG and never look back. I spent hours just trying to get my RAW pictures to look as good as what the camera did automatically for the JPEGs. I figure I must be missing something. Please help.

  629. Mike Gagnon says:

Thanks again! I would love some tips on shooting real estate! Interiors, exteriors how to make homes look good…

    Thanks!

  637. great show guys

How about some food photography tips ? Or how about a food photography book ?

    keep it up !

  638. Hi Scott and Matt:

    Terrific series on sports photography.

Could you also comment on where you like position yourself on the court or field in order to best capture high school games.

For example in basketball do you position yourself under the basket and shoot the layup or shoot up the court with the 70–200?

If you have a choice where are, your favorite location on the court and the sidelines.

Also future topics could you offer tips on travel photography or a subset of travel photography such as shooting outdoor art and sculpture.

    Keep up the great work.

  639. Guys, while you on the topic about lenses, maybe you could say what is better in your opinion prime lens like N35 1.8 or N85 1.8 or better to have the N70-200 2.8 and something with 17-50 range with 2.8. Little pros/cons scenario, maybe?

  640. Doug says:

Can’t wait for the next show!!
What would your preference be to buying a long lens, the Nikon 200-400mm F4 or the Nikon 500mm F4????

  641. Another great show. Hey, how about a show that goes into some detail on white balance? Auto vs. custom or preset ones. What it correct white balance? I use a WhiBal card at the beginning of a portrait session and when I get back to the studio and sync all the images in LR3 to that first frame, the white balance, while neutral, is too cool and I have to warm it up. Also, why can’t Nikon (and other camera manufacturers) make the auto WB perform better under tungsten light? It is always too warm and it seems this could be fixed. Thanks again for the great show!

  642. Patrick Wong says:

    Larry surprises me once again!

  643. Joe Manich says:

Guys, episodes 59 and 60 were SUPER! Great insights on lenses and bodies. Can’t hardly wait for 61!!

  647. juan Carlos Guzman says:

Please hope you read this , I want to see a episode just about Flash, how to use it in manual mode not TTL or wireless I know you did already, but never explained how to use it in manual mode….well great show today.

  648. Meds93 says:

    NIce job guys

  649. justin feigelman says:

Hi. I have a suggestion for a show: instead of introducing us to a pro photographer at the end of the show I think it would be cool if you guys introduced us to an amateur with great shots every now and then.

  650. Pavel Pokora says:

Hey guys, a very good show again. Question for ya, even though I might now the unfavorable answer already.. After shooting for three weeks in Thailand I noticed there is a tiny little speckle of dust right in the middle of my 18-200 zoom lens INSIDE… Is this even possible? How do I get it out, for all the good light’s sake?

  651. Victor Cachia says:

    Hi folks.

I am from Malta and I am really crazy about all your shows. I have started photography 2 years ago and I find a lot of help here. You rock!!!!!!!!!!!

    love your show

  654. Antonino says:

    Thanks again guys!! :)

  655. joseph chan says:

Larry Beck Cheap shots. I use tissue, clear box tape, and velcro. I cut the tissue to size of the clear tape, put on the tape, tape it twice, and then put velcro on the non stick side of tape.

    Then I made a diffuser.

  656. kuddl says:

Hi there. Great show !! As always.
How about a episode about GPS and Photo?
Would love to hear about that…

  657. David says:

Recommended lenses for architectural photography? Do I need to spend the extra for a 14-24 f2.8 (why do you need the speed if you are shooting still?) or would the 16-35 f4 make more sense (also allows for filters)? Thanks Matt and Scott.

  658. Gene A. Smith says:

I want that lens, the big one.

  659. Patsy Thomack says:

Thanks guys. I am now confused at a much higher level!! I am hoping you will be specific and help me with this question:

What you need to know: I take photos of soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis and swimming. As a first DSLR I purchased a D5000. I have the right lenses; 35mm, f1.8; 50mm, f1.4, and the 70-200 f2.8 VRI.
Now I know I need more like 6-8 frames per second, but I also need to be able to increase my ISO for shots in the poorly lighted high school gym. So do I get the D300? D7000? Or wait a year or two and save for a D700?

    WWSKD??

  660. geoff says:

Thanks. How about a series on creating a home starter studio on a buget, flash v strobe v constant lighting, firing lights with radio controllers, essentials v nice to have features, minimum space requirements.

  661. Valentina Saltel says:

Great tips and information on zoon lenses and making your own diffusers. Excellent.
I would love to see a show on the SB900 flash tips.
Thanks again for having this type of show.
    Valentna (Manitoba, Canada)

  662. Dave Schultz says:

    Great Show!

  663. Michael Zack says:

Great episode. I learned that you need a high shutter speed when raising the ISO over 1000 for indoor and/or night time shooting. I’m finding that I have a real problem when shooting people in dark settings and will try this new technique.

    Thanks guys.

  664. Mark says:

    I enjoy D-Town TV. :)

  665. Jim K says:

Great show. For settings for sports I shoot in manual so I can control both my depth of field and shutter speed and let the ISO float in automatic. On a D3 I can do this with virtually no degredation in quality due to noise, even indoors.

  666. Milan says:

You guys are the real thing, seriously!

  667. Eduardo Fernandez says:

good show and please keep giving tips about sport shooting.

  668. Ron Moskoff says:

    Ooh, Moose’s book… ! :)

  682. Bart says:

For sports indoor. Why not put your camera in M mode whit auto ISO on.
That way you can set the aperture and shutter speed you want. The camera will adapt the iso.

    Nice Moose book !!! :-)

  683. Vince says:

Thanks! I learn something each time.

  684. Raymond H says:

    Great tips!

The ‘Red’ camera does video at full resolution.. a bit more pricey than DSLR’s though. ;)

The ‘Captured’ book would be awesome to get!

  690. Mel Sessions says:

    Fantastic show just started watching

  691. Larry Kane says:

Great show on sports work. However, I do have a question about focus for sports. You talked about the difference between C and S on the camera, but what about rear button focus?
Have you ever used rear botton and if so when?
What works best for football and baseball?

    Thanks for the information,
    Larry

  692. Ed Crabtree says:

You guys, and Larry too, are the best. Like someone else posted, this is part of my FREE photography training program. Always hate when you guys take time off. :)

    love your show
    rg;-D

  698. Mike S says:

Thanks for all the great info! Not sure if you have done a show on wide angle lens and or replacement lens for kit lens?
I see the 16mm, 24mm, 60mm and 85mm wide angle but, what is the difference? I am looking at landscapes photos; beaches and forests. Also, what would be a good replacement for the nikkor 18-55mm VR kit lens?
    Thanks again

  699. Ed Howell says:

    As usual another fantastic show.

  700. Tony in Staten Island says:

Great Show. Is f2/8 the sweet spot? Is anything lower better? thanks

  701. Fin Glenn says:

    Hey Guys
I am so glad I found this show I have been watching PSU TV for awhile but missed D town, I have sat and watched all 61 episodes in a week!
???My question is about laptop screens for photographers. Apple offers a matte and a glossy option. I am getting a new MBP, which one should I buy and why? I have gotten many answers from many people so I thought I would ask you guys. Thanks
PS I live in Bradenton and would love to see the sets, are there tours available?

Hi guys, I’m from singapore & I just want to tell you guys that you have a huge following here.

Like me, we don’t miss an episode. Thanks for all the valuable information!

  705. Magee says:

I will confess I did not read all 535 comments before this one. But would it not be a good idea to tell people to “practice” their timing and not just to buy a faster frame rate camera? Not everyone can afford a $5,000 body.

  706. As always a fantastic show. Nice and fun while watching it. Great cheap tips by Larry.

  707. I have the 400mm 2.8 but I need the Moose book. ( bottom lip poked out ).

  708. Wayne Brennan says:

what a great series … packed with good info, thank you so much.

  709. George H says:

Great show. I love the sports photography series. How about a similar series for wildlife photography featuring equipment and techniques for birds in flight, etc. Maybe you could even use that wildlife photographer you occasionally feature by the name of Buffalo, Elk or Moose something!

  710. Terry Mehl says:

Moose got wordy.. but great content

  711. Mark Thibault says:

Larry Becker rocks. Oh yeah, so does Scott and Matt too. :-)

Moose mentioned shooting airplanes. How about doing a show/segment on aircraft photography at airshows?

  712. Phil Kypreos says:

Hi guys. Great show this week!

  713. Liz Kaye says:

I’m glad you guys discussed this topic and especially that Moose discussed the focus modes for shooting action. I finally found some useful information on the NIkonians site and that was a big help in getting some of the focus settings set. What you guys discussed went into further detail and was very beneficial.

Thank you for everything you do!!

  714. John C says:

    Awesome sound effects! HAHA. Thanks!

  715. Matt says:

    Yeah Moose
I’d like a copy of that book please :)

  716. Hey guys! Your show was perfect in its timing regarding the cameras. I just finished shooting my sons high school football games which required me renting lenses to get to the 2.8 f stop needed.
At the games this past weekend I saw exactly what you were talking about regarding the shutter speeds when the “pros” showed me what they captured. Needless to say, I need a new camera as my Pentax is too slow….
    thanks for the show!

  717. Federico J. Muniz says:

    Hi Guys

    Another Great Episode!

Here in Lakeland FL learning a lot with your shows.

    Thanks !!!!

  718. Suliman says:

Hi guys. You guys are doing great and I love the show. I’m a new photographer and I want to go into wedding photography. I have a very small budget. So far the only cameras that I have had are the ones that the college photography class let me borrow every semester. I need to know what I need at minimum to get started? Camera, lenses and flash. Of course once I get some money I will upgrade.

    Thanks
    Suliman

  719. Adam says:

    Relevant information as always.

  720. BernARD SCHRAGER says:

Hi guys, the show was great and I learned alot. I have a question. If your preferred settings for shooting indoor sports are f2.8 and 1/1000, why not go to manual mode and set those settings, and just set iso to automatic??What do you think? It seems alot of people don’t seem to care for auto iso but here it would seem to be a big help

  721. jerome says:

    awesome!

  722. Don J J Carroll says:

I love to learn more about Moose’s autofocus tips, thus it would be nice to win his book, a great Christmas present.

    DJJC

  723. Tom Keets says:

Hey, you guys are the best.
I have a quick question. Moose said something about a “closest subject” auto focus setting in Nikon cameras. Can I do this on my D300? I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks for all that you do.

  737. Oh, Angel. What a brave and smart choice you made. You allowed God to show you not only Emilys destiny, but yours also. The world is a better place because you made the choices you have. I speak from experience of friend and adoptive mom.Now this Ms. Raper needs to get a clue about the message she is sending to her daughter. Just in general the rejection issue and then not taking responsibility for your actions. Unbelievable!!!I agree with Shay.I pray that this young girl turns out to be a model citizen and fulfills the destiny that God has meant for her.A childs destiny is my soap boxso I could go on for days about this issue. All 3 of my boys have come to me through destiny. God had to use some interesting vehicles to get them to me, butlike you Angel.I just had to listen.I hope Ms. Raper gets out of the court room and into her daughters bedroom to help this young life discover her destiny.

  738. Paul Todd says:

Hey guys love your show. Have you ever thought about doing a piece on shooting sports on or around water? Would be great.
