Loved the hair band idea for keeping the USB cable attached to the camera.
Great show as usual.
What is the difference between JPEG and JPEG 2000 ?
JPEG 2000 uses a different compression algorithm. The JPEG committee thought it would supersede the original JPEG.
It never became mainstream though.
Loved the Watermark tutorial. Always look forward to Thursdays.
Thanks again.
Great show as always. Thanks for the Oregon tip.. headed there next week.
Would love to go to Photoshop World.
I like the silky water tip. I always shoot at 1/25 sec in addition to the several second shots. I like both effects.
Hi
Awesome show again.
How about some tips/info on files types.
jpeg vs. tiff vs. raw
The advantages and disadvantages of each.
Great Show as Usual!!! I look forward to the show each week!!!
Awesome show! Thanks a lot!
Good show. There seemed to be kind of a lipsync problem going on though.
talk a little a raw shooting
nice stuff
Great show guys.
Great show i neeeeeeed a zeeeeeeeeerayyyyyy man.
hey!!
I love Larry but I might be chicken to put that kind of pressure on my USB port of my D700. Still, because it’s him. I guess I’ll give it a try.
great show
Great show, guys!
Hey guys! I love your show!
Great show, would love to see different images on the wall each show from not just you but from other photographers from kelby training ect:)
Another good show, always learn something.
Not too sure if I would put the hand band on my camera and add that extra stress on the lens mount…
the watermark with the png image is really neat!
thank you guys!
Is there a way to only buy a single day at photoshop world or is it the full 3 days only?
Hey guys,
Another great show, I really enjoyed it!
Send me that book! I need all the help I can get.
Thanks
Super show
Loved Cheap Shots tip. Good stuff.
Great tutorial and tips! How about a demo on setting up a lens profile for LR3 / CS5.
Keep up the good work
You guys are troopers and we thank you for the continuing invaluable camera advice.
Oh, by the way,
MATT, MATT, MATT
Our camera club recently got into a debate on this subject with everyone having an opinion, all different.
Please discuss memory cards… What to look for when purchasing? Is it better to format iin camera or on computer? Better to delete or format? Better to download from camera or card reader? does removing/inserting memory cards play havoc on pins in camera? what signs signal potential failure with current card? other considerations?
Hey Matt,
I see in the latest issue of Photoshop User magazine you are in the Mpix ad. Looks like you are leaning on our D700 with the 70-200 f2.8. What gear do you really use, like 90 % of the time?
Just curious.
Thanks.
C.B.
GREAT SHOW!! Thanks for the tips…
Hi Scott & Matt!
Could you cover some quick tips on metering/shooting different skin tones/ethnicities, especially in diverse group situations.
Many thanks!
ND filters and an incoming tide make an awesome shot !
another great show keep them comming
Great show Guys!
Good show guys!
Another great episode, thanks.
Cool USB cord tip.
Could you show how edite the video you get from the DSLR camera.
Great show again. Matt, all you need to do is call and I will cover the Oregon trips for you !!
Hi guys,
Since you asked for suggestions for coming shows, here goes. How about a syncronized tip on high key photography. I’m thinking, in DTOWN you cover the shoot and provide tips on camera settings, how to light, what to think about during the shoot. Then in a corresponding episode of PhotoshopUserTV you cover the post production for high key photos. Hey why not go all in and have Matt sort out lpossible ose ends in a dedicated high key killer tip week.
That would be awsome! I mean you guys would totally rock if you did that…;o)
Rgds
Fredrik
I want a z ray. Don’t let them get you down Brad,
Another great show. Thanks guys.
antother great show full of tips
Great show as always guys. I’m going to keep on suggesting of putting some type of link or subject box concerning Larry Becker’s cheap shots. on your Dtown homepage. There so good, it would be great to go to one area and see all of Larry’s picks.
I have a suggestion since there are a lot of different memory cards out there to use, lexar and san disk extreme, for our different cameras. Could you guys suggest some cards and since the speeds are getting faster, like new 600x. Could you tell us if these cards will work in some of our cameras. I’ve heard that the 600x for a D300 is not worth it, it only good for the newer and more expensive cameras. Keep up the good work and by the way “You Guys Rock”……
Matt’s cool and Z-Ray rocks! Thanks gentlemen.
Great Show. Any quick tios on matting and framing photos?
My new favorite show. Thanks.
Thanks fellas for another great show!!
Another good episode
Any tips on shooting sunset/sunrise
Great show.
How about a link on your site to all of Larry’s Cheap Shot vids with a list what he covers?
Great Episode.
you guys Rock!
You guys really do rock. I really like the info that you provide for beginners like me. I’m a Nikon shooter and have been using NX2 for about a year and a half. About 10 months ago I purchased Photoshop CS4 and almost exclusively use Camera Raw. I keep hearing about Lightroom. I’m confused… Why would I need Lightroom too?
Great show as always guys….Larry, be careful with that hair band hack coming in with enough pressure could damage your cable or worse your camera’s usb port!
IPBrian-
Actually the “stress” on the USB port is actually quite minimal. When you stretch a band like that around something, the tension is spread around the whole circumference of the band. The amount of pressure on the port is really no more than how you press when plugging the cord in. And remember, the wider plastic part of the plug that touches the housing of the camera keeps it from pushing in too far.
The main thing is that, because the band is stretched to NEAR capacity, stretching it MORE to pull the plug out, is rather difficult. That’s the key. Not too much stress, but difficult to pull out accidentally.
Great show again. Can’t wait for the new book.
Nice episode guys. Thanks.
Really enjoyed this one. Great tips!
Awesome show, great tips from David Ziser. Wedding Photographers are definetly someone I would like to see more of on your show. Keep up the great work…..
I second what Jack (comment 21) said about memory cards – lots of confusion out there on that topic.
Scott, can I have your autograph?
(in your new book, please!!!!)
Great Z-Ray tip!
Another great show. Thanks guys!
Great Episode.
Really liked Larry’s tip on tethering
Another GREAT show. Love David Z’s section as well.
Great show. Larry, you the man!!!!
Hey guys, once again a great show. Always look forward to seeing your weekly episodes. Matt, loved the ND filter tip for smooth water effects – would have LOVE IT MORE if you had shown a couple of shots afterwards
Scott & Matt, can you please sign my CS-5 book when you send it to me – YOU ROCK !!!
Cool show – thanks again guys!
Thanks for another great show.
Another great show – keep them coming.
Scott, can you touch on using the lower iso for your camera that is lower than the native lowest setting? IE, my D3s has 200 as lowest but will go lower by L.o3, etc. How does the quality compare if I go lower than 200?
Enjoyed the show.
I really enjoy your show.
I had a friend who was having the same tethered problem. He asked me for help, I welded the bloody cord on…..too bad Larry’s tip didn’t come out sooner.
I was shooting tethered last week. Great Cheap Shots tip. Gotta love Larry.
Great show!
Very Good Show.
Great Show. loved the cheap shots, and David Zisers “zlight” tip. I will have to try that out. You could do some fun and creative stuff with that.
Great tips as always. Going to have to try the flashlight bit. Cheers boys!
photo walk was great. Thanks for hosting.
any tips on shooting chrome/reflective surfaces in product photography would be great!
thanks,
Mattman
Thanks so much for all your hard work. I really enjoy watching this show. Great info!
One word, 4 letters – Brad
Thanks guys, fun show as always
Great Z-Ray segment! Will get me one of those!
Scott, I have CS5 and I don’t find watermark when I followed your steps: window>extensions> ?? (why is watermark not there?)
Hey Guys,
Great show as always.
Looking forward to next weeks.
Jonathan
Dtown RULES…ROCK ON!!!!
:D:D
Great show, great tips. Like more with off camera flash and metering for such.
Another great show, guys. I liked Larry’s Cheap Shot, but thought it might pose a problem when changing lenses. Matt, we needed to see some of the Oregon water shots for examples.
One more thing, does David Z. use the Z-Light when using a flash unit or is it used strictly with no other flash?
–John
Great show and great tips. I always find something usefull. Thanks
Any reason why Episode 48 posted to iTunes on 7/29, and episode 49 is on Kelby TV on the same day but not on iTunes? Hmmm?
Way to go Brad!!!
Maybe next time you can show your example of the smooth water shot! Loved the tips and would love the books!
can you please explain why you buy
lightroom 3 rather than using camera raw
thank you
kevin
once again another great show
Thanks Guys for all you do!!!
Learned a lot!
Great show guys! Looking forward to some tips on studio backgrounds and strobist effects. Keep up the good work.
You guys are great!
I love matt’s shirts! I have a couple suggestions to talk about for next weeks show. First, can yall talk about the in-camera multiple exposure and how to edit them properly? Also, can you talk about the web galleries and different back-end stuff in LR? Thanks!
Great show. Love the tips and techniques. Topics that pertain to the ART of photography will balance off information given on the technical side. Let me win the photoworld tickets…pplleease….
Cheap shots rules!!! Thanks guys!!!
loved the episode, thanks guys.
Hey guys, it’s amazing that you are able to give away a free PSWorld pass. I was going to attend my local photowalk in Ft. Lauderdale but it was full. There’s always next year !
I love the show this week! What a great tip from Larry. That is something I will implement right away!
Hi Guy

UAE
Matt, Your Oregon spots reminded me of something I always think about. How do you safeguard your gear when traveling? Baggage? Hotel rooms? Cars? While preoccupied with shooting?
PSW here I come!
Good show, looked up the 4 way gradient filter. Thanks for the tip.
Another great show guys
Robert

Hey guys, I´ve got a tips for you!
When talking about a product (for example the four step ND filter) why not show some images taken with that exact gear? As you know an image says more than a thousand words…
Also, if there are similar products on the market you might as well show some images taken with that gear for comparison.
Very useful stuff as always.
Really would like to have someone give me the +/- on automatic converting RAW photos to DNG when off loading pictures from my camera to Lightroom.
I would love to have seen some of Matt’s shots taken on the beech using the neutral density filters
Oops previous comment: should have been beach (beech is a tree?)
D-Town Rocks……………..same as the Oregon coast
Particularly enjoy cheapshots each week, always very useful.
is there a way to keep a copy of your shows?
Good show!
And I thought I could only keep my hair in place with those things
Brad U Rock!!!
Great show guys .. Cool tip with the hair piece , never really thought about that one
All the best
Thanks Guys for the Photoshop world pass!
Another great show!!!
As always, very informative and entertaining. Awesome shirt, Matt!
Thanks for another great episode. Matt, great tip on shooting water water but it would helpfull in you could the complete process including camera settings. Also thanks for the Worldwide Photo Walk.
A good show as usual.
Can you get into what white balance settings to use for night prhotography? Both with and without flash such as racing at night shots. Thanks.
Has anyone tried to use one of those IO Gear wireless USB Hubs with a Mini to USB adaptor?
It should work with any certified USB Devices.
So the Camera=>Mini Adaptor=>USB Transmitter (Strapped to camera)~>Wireless Hub=>Computer.
Would it work? Come cheap shot guy, it would only cost 50.00 if it worked.
How about class on over exposure using speed lights?
Great show, love those cheap shots!
great show, guys!
Love Larry’s cheap tricks. Keep them coming.
thanks for another great show, you just rock!!
Grat show guys
Thanks for the great tips.
Hey Guys great show! I really like the Z-Ray info (named after me I’m sure
)! One question on neutral density filter. What is a good starting out filter a 2 stop or 4 stop? Again, super show!
Dennis
Look forward to this each week!
Great show.
Thanks guys !
Love the show.
I want to suggest about the Cheap Shots tip. What about do a ND filter out of a sun glasses?
Great show.
Great show as always.
Curious — how many comments do you receive each week and what is your estimated viewership?
Keep up the good work.
Great Show guys! Keep it up.
I’ve got a question..
What is the name of the website where you guys discussed the new features in Lightroom 3?
Nice tip about tethered shooting!
And as always great show!
Shooting Tethered with L-bracket. Getting cords out when shooting vertical is a problem. Kirk Enterprises has a LBA-1 spacer block that solves this problem and it works with Really-Right-Stuff brackets and heads. It also keeps my Nikon remote shutter release out of the head’s quick clamp. Thanks Larry Becker and all for the tips.
Hey guys, grate show as always, my first time leaving a comment, so I’ll take this opportunity to say, keep up the good work and keep the tips coming!
All the best from sunny England.
About the Cheap Shot:
I’m thinking that attaching the zip tie and elastic band about 4 inches +/- back on the cable from the connector would allow you to make a little loop and keep the stress off of the connector. The cable itself would still be secured.
Great show…
Great show.
Great tip from cheap shots
Great show!
Great Class Guys! Was wondering if you had any shows featuring lenses you would recommend for DSLR HD Video shooting? If not would love to get some advice on that.
Great show as always.
Liked seeing the ease of use of the new watermark panel in Lightroom 3. Would the “Z-Ray” be good for light painting?
Great Show! You are right Scott Larry’s tip does rock. Baby needs a new CS5 book!
Keep Rockin´ Guys!!
You guys rock – I’m going to go out and shoot!
great show as always
Keep those Oregon tips coming!!!!!
Grear Show
Hooray! I now have Lr 3 (student/teacher ed – cause I’m a poor student – thanks Adobe!) – Scott I’ve ordered your Lr 3 book, but I’ll also check out the Adobe Lr 3 book you mentioned. Cheers!

BILL FORTNEY – Scott, I just love how you growled his name in the previous eposide. I am lucky enough to get to be with you and Bill at the upcoming MOAB event. I am like a little kid waiting on Christmas. Matt, Bill told me he calls you the young pup… Photoshop World…. man to be able to learn so much before heading to Moab….. what a year. I am hooked on Dtown TV and I am going online tonight to become a NAPP member. Lets see is there anything else I can brown nose you guys with…. Nice job guys…
A great show. I need to go find the flashlight.
Great show – but you should warn your viewers that the watermark extension must be downloaded. It does not automatically ship with CS5. Keep up the great work!
The watermark tip was great.
Just got my upgrade to Lightroom 3 and my first task will be to work on a watermark. – I’m with Scott – Microsoft please steal my photo. I am unemployed and could really use the bucks.
The Brinkmann light is also a great tip. it will be not only useful for photography but as I am an avid camper will be able to do double duty!
A trip to Vegas would be nice–except it’ll be about 110 out there in early September.
Great Show! Could you do a show on what filters you use and when you use them?
Great idea of Z-Ray lighting. I’ll definitely be using that soon.
Hey guys …
Once again a great show!
Show me the books!!
Great Show! The flashlight tip made me think of using a spotlight for “light painting.” Have you ever done a show on that?
Great show! Love the Z Ray Light!
The show just gets better and better. Needs more McNally though!
Thanks again Guys love the lighting tips
Another great episode, thank you guys!
The watermark tip is very useful, thanks.

Good stuff as always. Love it!
Terrific show guys. I would really like to go to Photoshop World in Las Vegas so I hope I win.
Hi, Enjoyed the watermark tip. Might let people know they have to add it to the panels. Here is a link for getting the adobe watermark panel and installing.
http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2010/04/new_watermark_panel_for_photoshop_cs5.html

Isn’t it time for Larry Becker to upgrade from his D200, or would that not appear cheap? Since more and more DSLRs are coming out with video, how about some tips on doing video?
As usuall , the best show with best tips.
Thanks and many thanks.
how about a recommendation on wireless flash triggers?????
Very cool again. Hey I went and pick up a split filter card from a pro photo shop today and I was giving them a tip on how to use it from the show a few weeks ago and ended up with quite a few people asking me a lot of questions on how did you learn that tip and all I had to say was DTOWN TV.
thank again guys for new cool tips.
Matt, keep those Oregon tips comming.
Natural born geeks : )
Scott & Matt u guys rock
Thx guys for this great show! You rock
Really enjoy the show guys. Keep em’ coming!
Hi guys !
I might be interested in budget radio triggers.
The most interesting part for me was Cheap shots and Mats tip for shooting silky water.
Thanks for this show.
Keep it on guys!
Great tips fun show to watch
Great show guys.
Thanks!
Another great installment guys. Thanks, as always.
In case your version of CS5 doesn’t come with the extension for watermarking, here is the link so you can download and use the watermark extension.
http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2010/04/new_watermark_panel_for_photoshop_cs5.html
Great show, you guys rock!
Great show guys, I’ve been busy during the last few weeks so haven’t been tuning in but now its time to go back and catch up
can’t wait !!
Some great helps – I’m going back to your earlier shows.
You guys ROCK!
Another great show.
I’d love to see a segment discussing the use of different lens filters cheap vs. expensive and whether or not they degrade the quality of your images. This issue always confuses me as a beginner.
Keep up the good work!
How important would you rate monitor calibration?
Can most consumer-grade monitors be calibrated?
another rock-in show!
Hi,
Love your show.
Erez.
Great Show
I stumbled upon these episodes in itunes and now I am hooked in the last 3 days I have watched all 49 episodes and have learned so much I cant wait til there is more to watch! Now that I have seen them all once I can now go back over them and explore all the websites you pointed out and I just got lightroom 3 and can play with that all because you suggested it and I love it already and havent done much except installed it! You guys are great!!!!!!!
Good job.
You guys need to pay Larry more. He’s really had to be creative with his wallet. Nice job!
Wow, in the top 200 this week. Thanks for the tips as always. Have a great week.
Larry Becker should write his own book on cheap shots. He’s a genius! More on flash settings and studio lighting outdoors, perhaps beach shot set ups all with Nikon flash only if possible. Maybe Joe McNally can swing by and reading his book now, can’t put it down! The Hot Shoe Diaries…When I’m done, would love a free copy of Scott Kelby’s next book, Photoshop 5… with his signature…. BTW, I never win anything!
great show will all the guy and tips
Hi guys
Great show!
Greetings from Denmark
If you guys could do a show on photography math that would be cool. shooting an image at f5.6 at 125shutter would get the same thing with less Depth of field at f2.8 and 500shutter. If you guys have any quick tips on this I’d appreciate it.
Great to hear about the Lightroom Watermark addition!
Looking forward to more of your awesomeness!
Nice job. As always.
You guys rock!!! Never miss y’all So much great informative stuff.
like the ocean tip on the water
Brad Rocks!

Al

Great show. Keep them coming.
HI guys,
I agree with one of the commenters above about Larry writing his own “Cheap Shots” book.
Great show!!!
comment
First let me say that this is a comment regarding the last episode of D-town (#48) but I watched 48 & 49 today back to back and I’d really like to win that Photoshop World Vegas pass this week….
So Matt explained Lightroom Camera Calibration, camera profiles, great info and very helpful as I’m just getting my lightroom skills ramped up. When Matt was done Scott mentioned Fujifilm Velvia. Wow the memories of my film shooting days came rushing back. I loved Velvia. So here’s my question: Is there a set of Lightroom Camera Calibration, camera profiles OR presents that can be used to mimic films like Velvia (or other film stocks)? Paid or free, I’m interested either way.
Great stuff, thanks guys!
So who won the bag from last week?
Hey guys thanks for another great show. Do you know of any free plug-ins that are really helpful. Maybe stuff similar to NIK software, or some kind of noise reduction software for those of us on a budget? Not just stuff that has a free trial but a free plug in.
amazing tips!!
keep up the good work
thanks guys
Great show.
I know you’re not in the T-shirt business, but I was wondering where you got your T-shirt, Matt.
Z-ray lighting…I’ve also tried using a couple of Stanley Maxlights with a built-in tripod…works just as well
I just got done watching my last episode of D-Town TV in Baghdad. Thanks for the entertainment while I was here! Now it is time to head home and wear out my shutter on my 21 month old twins. I could use a book to read.
Hey guys, Would you have any good tip on switching lenses on location where has nothing to lean on? I usually put my stuff on the ground but in some cases which is not allow me to do so. Plz share if u have anything on that
Hi! Great show as always! Do you guys have some tips how to use the iPad in a photographic workflow. Or any other iPad tips for photographers?
Great show – thanks.
An even bigger thank you for creating the idea of the world wide photo walk. We had a lot of fun in Vevey, Switzerland.
Great show as always. How about some tips how to shot those amazing bokeh pictrues we see all over the web

Great show!!
Hey Guys,
Thanks for an other great show and by the way I have not won anything yet and the PhotoShop World would be great.
Denny
Guys love the show, download it from itunes every week. I’m interested in getting some new editing software but cant decide between lightroom or photoshop. Some content on the pros and cons of the two software packages would be great.
Thanks from Ireland,
Patrick.
Great show! Please show us how to do a 3D effect of an action shot!
Another fine show.
I’ld love the books, but never want to go to La$ Vega$.

I have been keep leaving comments for several episodes. I would really like the lightroom 3 book.
Thanks,
You guys rock!
Awesome work.
good episode
Your shows just get better and better.
What’s with the new LED light panels? Are they the real deal? Or just an expensive gimmick?
Hi Matt and Scott again guy’s wonderful show I really enjoy and look forward to every week, especially since I’m in Jamaica where there is not much opportunities to learn photography except for the Web thanks Guy’s.
Hi guys
Why not give some tips on how to get a simple website for your photos without some much struggle an fuzz
check out this NY based photographer: http://www.peterturnley.com/
hi
Hi guys. Enjoyed the show as always.
Hi guys,
I watch you guys every week, I always learn something. Thanks for the free show!
Mark
This is for Larry Becker and his cheap shots. Photographers travel quite a bit and the easiest way to keep your clothes fresh when packed is to place them in a 2.5 gallon zip lock bag. This lets you segregate your clothes and if your luggage gets wet your clothes will be dry. You will be amazed how fresh your clothes are when removed from the checked luggage. Not a “true” photo cheap shot, but sure comes in handy when travelling. Love the shows. How about a segment on layering images in the camera.
Still a huge fan!
Love the tip about watermarks. Unfortunately, I do not see that located under my extensions.
Another great show guys. And the Cheap Shots tip this week especially, was a serious WINNER! Thanks Larry.
Great job, good tips!
If you know any mid size backpack that holds laptop (15′) and camera gears…would you please recommend?
I think Python Blur that you guys reviewed is a little big for me which I just purchased but thinking about returning.
Thank you!
As always … a great show … thanks for my weekly fix …. same bat time same bat channel next week
Great show. Just wondering if you have any tips/tricks for macro shooting or special effect filters. Great wedding photographer you should look into is http://www.jaymemorrison.com. She is outstanding.
You guys ROCK!
I love Larry’s Cheap Shots! He must be a great Bargain shopper & hunter!
Love you Guys! Ideas: How about something on macro lens for DSLRs. How are they different, why might I want one, when don’t they work and how do I choose one. For me they are a bit of a mystery, so anything you can tell me would be wonderful.
brad – you rock too!
you Guys rock!
Hi Guys love the show keep it coming, a slot on how to control off camera flash guns such as Vivitar 283 and how to actually vary there power output would be good.
Great tips this week – particularly loved the watermark tutorial, so so easy now.
Hi guys,
I would like to see some pointers about photowalks. I’ve joined worldwidephotowalk and it was a great experience but would like to hear some tips for some future photowalks.
Regards,
Tomislav
Hey guys,
another great show! My idea for fastening the USB cable to the camera is to sling the cable around my Manfrotto quick release plate.
And BTW, I really need a good book on Photoshop… *hint*
Cheers,
Martin
Need to get me a ND filter
Great show!
Greetings from Norway!
Great show… like always
Thanks, guys!! Another great show. How about a segment on shooting wildlife with a not-so-long lens. I would LOVE to shoot wildlife, but I can’t afford a 500/600 whatever lens. How about some tips on doing it with an 80-400 VR, for example?
Thanks, again,
Rich
Would love to learn more about off camera flashes and all the settings. I recently got an SB-600 and can make it flash on/off camera, but that’s about it. Would like to have better control of the light. If you guys could put together a segment, that would be great!
Liked the tips on ND filters. Would like to learn more about how you both use different metering modes.
Great show! Hey I’d be interested to know how you guys back up your photos or what tips you have for doing so including what format you use.
Always something to learn from you guys and I like the photographer link of the week, such great veriaty of differant photographic styles.
love the show!
wouldn’t simple velcro have the same effect as the hair band and zip ties without all the hassle?
Loved the watermark tip. Do you know of a way to add a copyright to the metadata of an image?
Great cheap shots tip!!
Hi,
have you covered the “Hi-key” / “Low-key” light setting ?Remembered those when David mention old Hollywood light setting with the Z-Ray.
I always learn something, thanks.
Loved the show, wish Matt would have shown some of his “silky” water shots that were done at mid-day.
Great tips as always. Would like to know if rain gear is needed for pro level cameras and lens that mention being weather resistant. Also, tips on protective gear for shooting in the snow.
Be nice to brad…have him do a spot.
I’ve also used that hair band-ish idea for using cable ties – but it’s the one with two (for lack of a better term) marbles that thread through them. A *lot* cheaper than velcro.
My concern with Larry’s idea is that on my Nikon, I’ve already replaced the rubberized hand grip twice now. I’d be concerned that it may cause some separation if it rolls over…
You guys rock! Again and again and again. I’d like to see more videos on using neutral gradient filters and where to buy them cheap. Larry got any good ideas?
Awesome show! would love to win the cs5 book.
Matt,
I really enjoy you Guys. However, you might teach Scott how to say Oregon. Tell him that it is not O-re-gone It is O-re-gun. I guess it’s living down there in all that sun.
Love your show, especially the cheap shots tips!!
You guys have made waking up on Monday mornings less painful !!! Thanks!
Excellent lighting tip Matt!!! Wish you guys would bring PhotoshopWorld to Miami again. Last time you guys were here I had a blast and learned a great deal. Thanks!
Love the tips.
Please show me how to set the back button focus on my Canon 7D.
All your shows are great!
Great Show!
Great Show
Hi
Great tip about watermarks. I did not know that you could remove the background with a png-file. Thanks!
Also, ND-fader from Light Craft Works is alot cheaper. I have LCW ND500 MC (9-stop) and Hoya NDx400.
Hi guys great show, but here’s a question. In Lightroom develop module, lens corrections, there’s “DEFRINGE” with the 3 options, Off, Highlight Edges or All Edges, What does it actually do. Because it never seems to make any difference to my shots, Cheers Tony
I would like to apply for the D-Town “Scholarship” to Photoshop World in Las Vegas.
Love all the things you guys do on Kelby TV and Kelby Training.
It only keeps getting better.
Keep it up
Bob
keep up the great job………..!!
Again another outstanding episode!!! You guys Rock!
Great show guys.. I already used larry’s tips on keeping the usb cable tethered and it works great ! Can’t wait for the next show !
Hey Guys!
Love your photographer tip in the end of every show. Now I have one for you that you got to see.
http://jensfriis.dk/
He is danish and his photos are unbelievable. Only 22 years old and he has only been doing this for a couple of years..
Hey Guys,
The tips are great.
Scott,When are you going to show the panning technique?
Great tip on holding the USB cable and on the ND filter
I liked the Brinkman light tip – something I had never thought of doing.
A another winner guys
Brad rocks! Really!! More Joe McNally segments please.
you guys rock .
Photoshop World is number one on my bucket list!! PLEASE HELP!!
Please enter me in contest. Thank you for you help.
You guys really do rock, Brad included, anyway love the show, I try and write after each one. I am really appreciating the “Oregon series” of tips, all good stuff. I am trying to learn more about nd filters, so that is very cool. Anyway, how about some tips on night shots, such as star trails? And could you explain the use of mirror lock up? Thanks for all that you guys do…….p.s. those books, and a ticket for photoshop world would, would be,..well, one heck of a lift in my life. Keep up the good work, its appreciated, thanks, DOUG
thanks guys…
Thanks from 120 miles south of the Arctic Circle!
About the hairband tips…. Got to be careful on the stress you put on the connector…. I am using a rubber band around the battery grip so it is out of the way, and I’m leaving about 3 inches of a loop to be able to plug the connector into the camera without stressing it. Just as a guitar player would plug his guitar…. trought his shoulder strap. So if youre pulling the cord from the other end, the rubberband gets the tension, all that away from the connector.
Keep up the good work guys

Is it worth the money to step up to a full frame sensor? (Specifically in reference to the Canon 7D v/s the 5D Mark 2)
Great show! Thanks for helping everyone become better photographers!
Love the show………I’m a faithful viewer of D-town, .would love to have both of those books……….hint-hint
Thanks for the great show. I like the idea from Larry with the ties and the hairband, it can be used for other useful applications too. i.e.sync cords
Totally agree with you on James Schmelzer…great instructor. Never seen him live, but have seen him on Kelby Training.
Hi Scott
Received my LR3 copy along with Matt’s preset. You guys are awesome .
Guy’s,…. first stop after Afghanistan; Photoshop World. The wife says Hawaii is better, not so sure. A little help?!!!
You guys are awesome , received LR3 with Matt’s preset
You guys rock!
usually I try to give some feedback, but today I’ll say “You guys rock!”. (I would your same comment on my blog
Great show as usual guys. Any chance there will be more discussion on lenses? We’re ready for higher level lens chatter =)
Good stuff guys.
great show
great show boys!
Hey guy I think your show is so outstanding and watch it every week here in Spain.
Will you guys cover marine photography some time?
There is a lot of great stuff there.
I enjoy this show along with Photoshop User TV.
If you haven’t already, could I suggest that you might cover fill in flash, particularly outdoors.
I need more Canon information as it relates to what you’re telling us. Nikon is cool; but so is
Canon
The neutral density filter tip is great. I have been experimenting and it is an amazing accessory.
Owen
Great as always. Do you guys have any tips on marketing photos? Thank you for providing this show.
super tips!
Great show, again.
Thanks for another great episode.
Hi guys,
Love the show. Gimme da book!
Another great show. I would like to have seen the Oregon ocean shot with the ND filter.
another great show…
and tips…
What’s wrong with Brad?
SB
Great show as usual. Great time Larry Becker.
Great format (information heavy/short time span) Who knew you could walk away from coffee break so well informed.
Great show
D. Ziser also has a tip for shooting tethered.
Great show…. Now it’s my turn to win
Hi Guys, hi brad.
Hi Guys, viewing here in the UK, great show as usual, would welcome tickets to the Las Vegas show.
Great show guys.
More Larry Becker !!
Another great show guys. Thanks.
Suggestion for next shows: DNG vs NEF/proprietary RAW formats: pros and cons.
Thanks for another great episode. The cheap shots segment is an awesome solution for tethered shooting!!
I love D Town. It has given me many great tips that I have tried and use. It is extremely helpful that you keep the past episodes available. How do you find time to sleep or see your families with your apparent busy schedule? Thank you and your “team” for the hard work you put into your shows and the Kelby training sites.
Thanks Scott and Matt!
Love the cheap shots – keep them coming!
Great show
Great show!
Super show as always
Hi,
Thank you very much for exiting show…
Regards,
Great watching you guys as always. I am always amazed at what Larry comes up with. I think he watches too many MacGyver reruns ;~)
tons of giveaways!!!!!
Love the show!!
Would love a copy of the books and pass to PSW.
BTW, I love your show and the tips are very helpful with my photography.
Keep up the great work.
Chris Stern
Love the show. The update to Photoshop and Lightroom that you show have made me decide that I must upgrade both.
Liked the zray!
always amazed at the fresh stuff you guys come up with. keep up the good work.
Hi, I’m back again after 2 weeks in the US…
Thanks for the show. You mentioned TIFF, but I can’t find any reason to use that. I only use PSD (did not start with DNG yet). What is the benefit of using TIFF?
Looking forward to going back to the US if I win the ticket.
Greetings from Sweden.
Love the tethered tip from the cheapshots segment. Becker is the MacGyver of digital photography for sure.
Hey – need another reason to buy an iPad? If you’re a landscape photographer, check out the Star Walk ap by Vito Technology. It’s only $4.99 and it lets you visualize exactly where the sun will rise or set.
Love the show…thanks for offering so many great tips.
Also, thanks for doing the giveaways.
Great show once again.
Nice episode!
Great show guys!, Just wanted to ask about the “Z-Ray” Lol. Would you suggest useing a direct light “Z-Ray” over a off-camera flash ?
For some reason, I’m getting two shows at a time on my iTunes.
In other words, I might not get one in one week, then the week after I get two… like the last two, 48 and 49, I got them at the same time a few days ago.
Either way, I’ve been watching the show since the first episode. Great Work!
You guys (including Brad) rock!
Cool tips – can’t wait to try the Z-Ray, any other models of “Z-Rays” that achieve similar results? What about some tips for stock photography shooting – what’s marketable, what’s not, images in-demand versus those that are a dime a dozen?
Thanks for another great show!
The 29th is my birthday!
Great show
Hey Matt and Scott! Thanks for doing this and all the other shows, I can’t find enough time to just watch them all
. Some good tips indeed. Looking forward to seeing more every time. Could you maybe show how the Canon close-up lens 500D works on some standard Nikon glass (e.g. 18-200 VRII). I’d really like to see the difference and confirm the fact it makes a macro glass out of any lenses. Thanks!
Another great show. Always something to learn. Would like to see some tips on composition and maybe what are the top 5 “get it right in the camera” tips you may have.
Great watermark tutorial
Great show!
Great show!
Love the fact that you show how to do things on both major manufacturer brands. It always helps when someone on the other side asks a question and you have a relative idea of where to find it in their menus.
PSW gets better every year. Thx
How can you predict good sunrises/sunsets?
Totally Awesome Show
great show! thanks for the watermarking tips! i was wondering how to do that.
Love the shows they are a great help to me.
I just gut your copy of The Digital Photography
3 book set. Looks good to me can’t wait to get into
it. Thanks Dan
What a great prize package from a couple of great great guys on a great photography show.
Another great show, thanks for the cheap shots tip!
Great Show – always get something out of each show!
How do you guys keep cranking out such good shows? Bravo. Thanks.
Great show as usual. Oregon lives on! Would have love to have seen a couple of examples though!
Rock On
I’ve got a cheap shot for guys that can’t afford thick/fine/powerful ND filter (hoya nd400, b+w 110, shingray, lighraft etc.). Try using WELDING GLASS. It’s cheap like sand on the beach and can give great effect and it can fit cokin holder (with some DIY fine tunning).
Great show, great tips. Thanks!
Great show! I will try to find that flashlight around here!
The best tips ever. I have increased my knowledge and my business by using these tips. Thanks
Ken
Another great show – thanks for the Photoshop tips – I learn something with each new show!
Great tip about the density filter and shooting water
I just checked Google and I am amazed how many people googled Z-RAY instead of just typing in the URL you mentioned in the video.
Guys….thanks for another great show. I do have an idea for a short segment….Could you please explain the concept of exposing to the right (especially when shooting Raw)…How ‘much’ do you overexpose the shot, and how do you bring it back in LR or PS? Which sliders do you use???
Thanks again,
Rich
Great show ! Could you give us some “quick holiday tips” to shoot photo’s when being on holiday (and your family in the slipstream) which makes it difficult shoot, because of time limitted space (the family has always to wait..)
Really great cheap shot I bought the stuff and got mine going. thanks guys you rock!!
Great tips keep them coming!
Great episode
Brad Rocks!
You guys rock! Keep up the great shows.
Another awesome show guys!
And what can I say about Dave Hill…ridiculously awesome!
Great show!
Like the stuff on the watermark in CS5. Learn something new everyday!
I suggest we create a new font family for Scott called “Whereareallthegoodfonts.otf”
Cheers,
R
Great show guys (the whole crew, not just you two).
Thanks for the tip on watermarks in CS5. Did not know about that one, until now.
I suggest we create a new font family for Scott, called “Whereareallthegoodfonts.otf”
Cheers,
Roel
as always another great show!
Great show as always.
I was viewing the Lightroom 3 tutorial just a week ago and you’ve mention this website (dtowntv.com) on one of your segment, then I’ve search it and now I cant stop viewing all other episode.
Im actually downloading in my iTunes all other podcast starting from Episode-01.
Thank you guys, it really give me a lot of insight in Digital Photography.
Great show.
Does lightroom 3 have a proof set up somewhere ? I send my pictures out to be printed , it would be very helpful.
Thanks
JJ

Great show as always!
Thanks again!
Excellent show – thank you!
Another great episode!!!!
Wow, I watched all your eps during the last days after I discovered them through the photowalk (Thanks for organizing that, Scott!). Great source to refresh my bad memory and to find some new hints and inspirations.
Nice to see the Z-Ray again, I saw it once in David Zisers videos
Keep up the eps and the black shirts – thanks so far.
Steven
Ray gun,got to get one!
and oh yeah! U Guys Rock!
hola…..
I just wanted to say thank you so much for putting D-Town on, I just got into my first gallery for photography and to be honest I was feeling a little intimidated. I believe I have a good eye for composing shots but, felt completely ignorant about the camera. You’ve helped show me what my DSLR can really do.
Thank you
-adc-
Nice to see you guys again
About fixing your USB cable in the cheap shot section: take a look at this cable http://www.usbfirewire.com/Parts/rr-2mbl01-72gl.html
David Ziser mentions this in http://digitalprotalk.blogspot.com/2010/07/shooting-tethered-few-things-you-should.html
Great show guys.
Hi Matt,
please show the next time some results of the photo. Before and after / with and without ND filter.
regards
Dieter
good show – I’m going to pick up the Singh variable ND filter…
Another great show. I always pick up something while watching. I am new to DSLR shooting and try to soak up as much information as I can.
Thank you again…

Great Show – Keep the tips coming. You could do a whole new show about the Oregon Trail….
Great tip Matt.
Awesome show as always!
Great show again!
Can You please explain Hyperfocal Distance . Thank You!
I can’t believe this show is free!!!
Matt: We must know where you get all of your awesome shirts!
Love Matt’s t-shirt! Where can I get it???
Love the show. At photoshop world, how about scheduling some of the workshops at the “end” of the event rather than the beginning. That might help folks take advantage of travel plans, etc.
Another great episode. Thanks!
Great show
Great show. Loves every minute of it!
Again great show. Greatings from Austria.

Thanks for the tips as always.
Enjoyed the segment on the z-ray.
great show.
I went to set up my watermark on CS5 and it wasn’t there. had to search but installing it now so hopefully all is well
where do you get your photographer’s t-shirt (monkey t, etc)
Had a great time out at the Oregon coast love to share photos. thanks for the great tips and the insperation to make the shot count. Love It
Hi Scott and Matt. Have a copy of “Photoshop CS5 for Digital Photographers” and just saw the tip on watermarks which I use for my blog. However when I go to Windows – Extensions there’s no Watermark option.
There’s a similar situation in the “Automatically Fixing Lens Problems” in your book.
There’s probably others but I haven’t found them yet.
Any suggestion for fixing this.
Enjoy your programs.
I have 2 handmedown computers with old versions of Lightroom running. I just bought Lightroom3 and plan to install it on a new computer. How do I consolidate my catalogs? Is it possible to make “kumbaya” out of all these versions or am I going to be in version control purgatory forever?
I would love any and all advice/feedback – especially if it’s helpful.
Thanks!
