Thank God you are back !!!!! Great show..I hope you will continue to have Moose and Joe McNally as contributors. I like the new format and want to thank for coming back…..
My favorite show. I’ve learned alot. Thanks guys.
Great to have you guys back. HDR on moving subjects awesome. I can see where this could be very good with wildlife.
Man! what a surprise! I was hopeless but now you’re back! thank GOD! nice to see you !
good job guys, good to have you back, and the set looks great
Finally, the wait is over! Great show! Didn’t know about the filters on fast glass! Keep learning, keep shooting! I´m here next week, for sure! Thanks
Cool, glad your back. I undersatand plug ins, but don’t forget NX2 and new instruction for it. Thank you. Thursdays are to be looked forward to again….
Great to see you guys back. DTown is one of my favorite resources on the web. Photography or otherwise. Thanks.
Welcome Back!!!!! tHANKYOU !! You Have BEEN MISSED!!!!!
Excellent to see the second season starting. Great show and good information!
Hi from Australia,Welcome back. been looking forward to the new series.
Welcome back! I loved the show, especially the sports photography.
So glad to see the show again! You guys plan on putting up some tips on shooting video?
Hey, many thanks for bringing back D-Town TV. It’s a great resource for all of us shooters. Will the new episodes be available as “podcasts”, as last years were?
Great to see you back. Always informative. I’ll second that I’d like to see some NX2 instruction if it fits in your new format.
Thanks guys for a great show! Welcome back!
A request
Last season, when you talked about lenses, you would say something like “I use this lens lots” or “I love this lens”. That’s great if I’m you and shoot what you shoot. Could you compare and contrast lenses? Strengths and weaknesses? Possibly lenses other than the 2.8 zooms, the 50 1.4 and the 200 2?
Thanx

Love the show. Some awesome tips there. Especially for a beginner such as myself!
Great to see you guys back, great episode as always, are the new ones going to be available on iTunes like last season ?
This episode is a very good start!
The season 2 is will be available in iTunes?
YAY, they are back!!!
Guys, you are awesome!!!! Confession, I was wondering if there are any tipps left after this great first season (“What else can they report on?”).
But, your tipps and tricks are amazing. I’m so happy that you’re back.
GREAT JOB!!! and thank you,
masa
P.S.; I’d love to see someone tab Joe’s shoulder, like “Hey, I got a little beginners tip for you: Your flash points to the wrong direction” LOL
Quote: {P.S.; I’d love to see someone tab Joe’s shoulder, like “Hey, I got a little beginners tip for you: Your flash points to the wrong direction” LOL}
Yeh, me too
If you’re looking for suggestions on tech/equipment to cover now you’re diversifying a bit, couple of stuff I’d like to hear about are :
-Tripod heads (there seem to be a million out there! which is bets for what job + budget)
-Tablets (I’ve never used one)
Thanks.
Hi Daf:
Thanks for the suggestions—this helps a lot (and we’ll cover them both!).
Thanks for watching,
-Scott

Glad you are back, looking forward to some great shows. Very good start to what I hope is an excellent second season.
Nice to have you back! Hope you’ll have some tips about taking photo’s in the theater or at a concert one day. Can’t wait till next week; show is to short.
I L-O-V-E the new format. Keep doing the on-location stuff. It’s fun to see how other pros shoot.
Waow! Excellent! Many thx!
Love that Dtown is back, you guys rock!
F22 for shooting landscapes really…..come on guys thats not the sharpest point of the lens F16 if you have too F11-F8 is prime for most lenses. Maybe you should go into more detail on this.
Nice to see you again ^^
Just for your information : this episode (#25) is not in the iTunes feed (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=306494824) …
Thanks for coming back, I really appreciate your show.
The New Show Rocks! Let’s keep it going!

Hi Guys
It’s just great to have the both of you back on my pc screen. I have been waiting for this a long time.
I am thinking about buying the Nikkor 14-24 F2,8.
My concern is about not being able to screw a UV or ND filter in front of the glass – what is your opinion about that ?
Looking forward hearing from you !!
Best regards
Michael Hasloev

I don’t personally have any filters for it but here’s something I found.
Sorry, here’s the link:

Yay. Fantastic! The guys are back. Really made my day.
Great new format. Everything looks fresh and full of energy. I’ll be watching it every single week, that’s for sure. Great stuff! Keep it up.
Szabi
It’s forward slash Joe, forward slash!
Great show guys.
Hey what happened to the “Ask Brad” section on the site?
Worth waiting for. You guys have tightened up your on-camera presentation, covered more ground with fewer awkward moments. And the photography information is rich. Nicely done.
Suggestion: Cover “Expose To The Right.” And how most effectively to use it, interpreting the histogram, etc.
Keep up the good work. I especially like McNally’s tips.
w
Love the format – quick tips and will be looking forward to the Gear reviews.
tips on shooting in snow would be awesome. especially shooting snowboarding/ skiing.
Nice job guys! Now I have the show to look forward to. Long drought.
Great show as usual, but I have a question maybe not about this episode but it has to do with Kelby and Joe Mcnally both talking about shooting flash on rear sync. Ive been trying to use rear sync but when im in apeture priority my camera goes to slow rear sync, which brings my shutter speeds really low….making sharp pics almost impossible……I was just wondering if you can cover this topic and how to get those nice ambient pics using rear sync (which by the way I can only get to work when im in Shutter, or Manual)…..any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Nice to have you back!
Hey Great show and thanks for all the info,
Quick suggestion/idea is
aviation photography, aperture VS shutter, blurring the props, and other affects?
Auto racing what to carry and how to find that opening in the fence.
Thanks for a great show
thank you very much for the tips and I am happy to see you guys again
Good to see you guys back. You’ve been away far to long.
This is awesome! I love the new show – super informative!

Great that you guys are back…..
Welcome back. Very very good! But 15min is too short! 10 more minutes would be fantastic…..
Great to see you guys back. Like the new look of the studio and show.
Best of luck for the rest of this season
WooHoo! Glad to see the show back up and running! Although I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed that you have the same commercials (Joe’s wild west shootout & Moose shooting the buffalo) as last season’s. Don’t get me wrong, those were cool and all, but was expecting something new.
Still love the show and looking forward to future episodes!
Welcome back guys! That you so much for that HDR segment. I shot a HDR of Melbourne few days ago and there where boats all moving in shot. Now I know how to fix it I am going to give it a go today.
Nice!!! You’re back!
Looking foward to more shows. And I as well like Joes tip. Makes a big difference.

(Baahston)
THe videos are very informative and useful without getting too much overwhelmed by the technical terms. Also, you guys get right down to it without spending too much time on the theory. Great resource for Nikon camera owners.
Thanks very much.
AWESOME SHOW !! Glad to see you guys back !!
I heard of this show from reading some threads in “Nikonians.org” and just think you guys do a great job.
As a ‘newbie ” to dslr photography, I am trying to learn as much as possible and your videos and Nikonians have helped me alot.
I would like to see something on tripods/heads and also some micro/macro shooting.
I think that if you guys could actually show your images after a tip or example would be neat.
Also, maybe some info or comparisons on bags
How about a photo contest for all levels of photographers covering various scenes/shoots and the winners can get a 1 year membership to NAPP etc.
Thanks alot for all your tips, they are very helpful
Hey Guys love the new season. Too many people don’t know the great photographers of history. Could you please do a episode talking about them and their work like Robert Frank, and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Great set and a very nice start to the season.
YYYEEEAAAA !!! You guys rock !!!! What a great episode, Can you do one each day and not once a week ?????
[...] Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski have the newest episode of D-Town up. Check out the now non-Nikon-centric season premier of D-Town here. [...]
Happy Dance!! It was worth the wait. I’m glad to see Season 1 will not be forgotten. My D90 and I are better companions because of it. Please do one show a day to make up for the long “two weeks” we waited. Great looking show.
WHY HAVE YOU DISABLED DOWNLOAD LINK!!!!
C’MON GUYS DON;T BE SO MEAN!!!!
MATT! shame on you.. You wouldnt shoot at f.22 with any lens. On a low-end lens you will get a crappy light distortion since the light rays wrap around the aperature blades. Most landscape photographers prefer f.8 -11
Hi Scott, Hello Matt,
I tried your tip regarding turning off VR when shooting at 1/1000. I did several shots. But I have to say: The pics with VR ON are still a bit sharper than those with VR OFF.
gear: Nikon D300s / 18-200mm VR II
Martin.
fantastic you ore back.
Can you do a piece on how best to stabilize a long non VR lens. I am talking about a 400mm f2.8 lens. I am using the Manfrotto 393 head but stil seem to get movement in low light.
Regards
Sue North
Well worth the wait, great to have you back!!!
Shooting sports with Jpeg, interesting. Licence to turn my camera off RAW, thanks
Did I see a white lens on Matt’s desk!?
Great show, thnx for the HDR tutorial ,learned a lot again
One Question. if ya show a example for a change through the lens by a filter or some ..is it possible to exual showing the difference between it to us the viewers ?
for example the filter Scott showed in the show how a image looks with or without the filter.
Only a suggestion for people like me who don’t have filters or other extenders in their gear .
Thnx for reading
greets
ps
sorry for the native English
Scott & Matt,
Great work! Welcome back! New show was wonderful! Where did ya get that great photo ledge?
Travel Photo Blog:
http://www.places2explore.wordpress.com
Pete, funny you should ask. I just bought one yesterday. You can get it @ IKEA for about $20 for the longest one which is 72″.
Great show !!
I happened to hear of your show while reading some threads in “Nikonians.org”.
The tips are great and your guests are great.
Is it not possible to show examples of images shot “real time” . This past episode #25 you show/explain about tethered shooting and Matt has his trusty Apple. Why not take a few example shots to show us “newbies” what to expect and see.
Also, Why not have a photo contest for your ‘loyal’ viewers from beginners to advanced covering and kinds of shots, and maybe give to the winners a membership to NAPP or misc software etc.
One more question. I shoot a D80, why no mention of the D80 in the title or in the videos??
How about a stint on the various camera bags, and also proper cleaning techniques and cleaning items ? (I have watched Moose Petersons video)
Great show ! very imformative !! and I like the new set and the “on location” shots
Jeff
Glad the show is back. Looking forward to up and coming shows. You guys kick ass.
Pete, I just saw your comment. Funny you should ask about that photo ledge. I just bought one yesterday. You can find them at IKEA – the longest is 72 in. and costs about $20.
Uhm, why was my comment deleted?
Hi Guys,
nothing got deleted – I was wrong, Very sorry for that.
I have a suggestion: I’d love to see an episode focussing on “low light situations”.
And there is a question: Would it be possible to send in photos and ask questions on it? LIke “I am sure I did everything right but the result looks awful”. Or would this go beyond the concept of your show? The reason for this question: The D300s is an awesome cam, but some shots (their “quality”) totally disappoint me (even though I am sure, I did everything right).
great show!!! …recommended it to several friends already
Martin
(Nikon D300s)
Matt/Scott, great show; I love the content.
I have a question on the F-stop settings you referred to in episode 25.
There is much dialogue around the ideal F-stop for optimal sharpness. I agree with selecting F8 and above for optimal sharpness and maximum depth of field.
What is your perspective on the phenomenon of diffraction. From what I understand, there may be a point of diminishing returns above F16 where the image may actually soften?
Thanks, and again I love your show.
Brian
Whoo Hoo!!! You guys ROCK!!!
Love all the tips and tech.
Matt – Looks like you are not using a Upstrap anymore. What is the new one and why the change?
Rick – The strap on the camera Matt’s using is the Domke Gripper Strap. Truth be told, he and Scott both prefer the UpStrap, but I prefer the Domke. Nothing wrong with either of them, just personal preference.
Matt was in a bit of a hurry to get to Ybor before the sun went down, so I just handed him whatever camera was handy and it happened to have the Domke strap on it.
Thanks for the honesty
Great show but there is no HD option. After watching HD PhotoshopTV it’s hard to watch D-Town in low quality.
Thanks! Your show looks much slicker now! Looking forward to future episodes already!
Finally, the wait is over! Love it, as allways.
Greetings
Mirko
Extra-Tip for sports shooters: get a chair (the small one for camping sites) instead of knee pads
And may be try 1/640s for getting a little movement in your action shots – freezing everything might be boring.
Thanks for another great ep!
Would you guys have any recommendations on brands for a ND filter?
Looking to pick one up for my 50mm 1.8 and am seeing lots of mixed reviews..
Thanks again!
Outstanding! Loved the show, looking forward to the next. The wait was worth it.
You did not mention step up filter rings. Buying different size filters for every lens is a pain. I have standardized on the largest size filter (77mm) and use step up rings. Is there anything wrong with this approach?
I also use a variable neutral density filter so that I can dial in the density that I want.
Your shows are great and have helped me a great deal. The information on HDR in this lesson will be very useful.
Thanks for the show. I watch every week and missed the show.
For one of the tech talks, I would love to hear about tripods/ballheads/brackets etc. I have a D300, 24-70F2.8 and 70-200 F2.8 and travel a lot. Would like to know recommendations. Considering Gitzo 1541T with RSS BH-30 or BH-40 and L-Bracket. What do you think ?
Wecome back, great show can’t wait for the next one.
Welcome back. I appreciate your efforts. I’ve been “shooting” for over 20 years and appreciate that there’s always something new to learn. The digital age is amazing and I appreciate every tip you give. I remember a quote from DeWitt Jones that there is “more than one right answer”. You’re helping me learn ways to find more than one right answer. Thanks. As a request, maybe you could get DeWitt Jones to come on the show and provide some creative input.
Glad you’re back! Love the new set, much easier to see everything.
[...] kann man die Folgen auf: KelbyTV! << Zum vorherigen [...]
Scott, Matt and TEAM,
Love the new format. Grats. Keep the tips coming. You have helped many! Wish my D90 could auto bracket with a single push of the shutter! Is it possible? It seems like a software update could achieve this.
Thanks and welcome back
Very helpful tips in Photography and Photoshop.
Great new format. Looking forward to learning more. Didn’t know about the filters . Cheers.
Looking forward to your shows for 2010.
Just want to know if you can give some sort of tutorial on the “Dragan Effect”. I have seen Andrej Dragans potraits and they are outstanding. I mostly shoot landscapes but would love to learn his technique. Love your show.
Regards,
Owen.
matt…you say to use f16 to f22 for your lanscape. i’ve always heard that quality falloff increases as you use a smaller aperture. i never use anything smaller than f16…..am i wasting my time?…..thanx for a great series, glad to c u back…….ray
Hey Ray,
best thing to do is give it a try. Take one at f/16 and one at f/22 and see if you can tell. It’s going to be different for all lenses. Good luck
matt k
Hurray. Pleased it’s back. However, the rss feed doesn’t have the videos in the feed, so my podcasting software can’t get it. Seems like the itunes one works ok tho?
Wey hey – your back and I learned so much from the 1st season. So I have high expectations this season. And you have not disappointed. Great show.
Glad you’ve got the new-and-improved show up and running. I really enjoy it. Great tips already in this first show of the second season! Thank you!
Welcome back, I love your show and tips.
Thanks again for sharing all that information for us.
Regards from
Carlos
well guys, thank god your back its been a while but its been worth it….love the new format…
great show… Outstanding… but are you going to be able to keep it up…. I know that’s what she said..
Super Glad your back!
I really enjoyed the new episode to start off Season 2. Thank you so much for giving us all these great tips. I have one request and maybe this is a tall order but I would like to see more Joe McNally tips on upcoming shows. Thanks
I have waited with baited breath for your return. I am so glad you guys are back and the 1st episode was great. It seems kinda rushed. Maybe you could extend the next episode by a few more minutes. Thanks, Tim
Matt, how can you recommend f16 to f22 know that diffraction starts at about f11 and becomes an issue lower than f16 !
Nico,
Then shoot at f/11
I LOOOOVVVVVEEEEEEEE you guys. Thanks SO much for doing these shows. I learned so much from Season 1 and can’t wait for more season 2… Thanks a MILLION!!!!!!!
[...] The 2nd Season D-Town TV is a fresh approach to teaching camera tips and photographic techniques to today’s digital photographers with Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski as its hosts. No matter what the skill level or interest, each episode covers a wide variety of topics. [...]
Great, you are back
Welcome Back and thanks for the show!
Monyu
About time! Great news just to see you’re back, I really missed you guys… Regards, Luis
Super duper for Season1! Go for season 2 !!
Thanks for coming back. I’ve learned a ton from D-Town. How about a show on fine tuning your lenses on a D300.
On the evidence of this first new show, I sense you are enjoying a little more freedom to impart really good tips, and a little less constraint to market the products of one manufacturer. However worthy that company might be; it is a mighty step forward for the viewer. Good stuff,
Great to see your return… love the helpful suggestions… look forward to sharing your ideas and website with friends
I know this is a very basic question,. Could you demonstrate how to clean the front element or filter if attached the correct way?
Hey guys,
First of all I wanted to thank you for the great show. I discovered it two weeks ago and I have downloaded every episode on my ipod.
Comuting becomes a pleasure.
Just a question for Matt : What gear did you use to take the HDR ? D300 I presume but I can’t find what lens it is.
Then, If you guys can go to my website (http://www.florianmanach.com) and tell me what you think about my pictures, I’d be very honored.
Thanks a lot for everything.
Florian
France.
Great to have you guys back, BEST show on the web. Keep up the great work.
Great show, glad to see you guys are back on. I’ve been slowly getting through all the photoshop videos since DTown went off the air. You guys are doing the photography and video community an unbelievable service and my hats off to all the folks that make this happen.
My only question is, is it possible for you to allow the slightly larger viewer like you had for the first season of DTown TV? The quality of the video is just as superb as it was the first season, but watching it full screen on a 17″ @ 1920×1200 is not the best solution. And the current veiwer measures less than 4.5 inches across for me.
Can’t wait to see more.
A great BIG Irish “welcome back” …brilliant new show and set.
Guys,
Great new show. Really good info.
New topics:
- Shooting low light indoor, no strobe: plays, bands, high school basketball
-Custom WB options; gray card, Expo disc, Gretag-Macbeth etc.
-Basic video shooting on DSLR; required accessories, editing,
Keep up the great work.
Ron
Great to see this DTownTV series continues!!!
Can you at some point cover for the D700 “Shooting Menu Bank” & Reset and “Custom Menu Bank” & Reset. A typical example, setting them up and going to a specific bank (A,B,C,D), to use, etc.
To be more specific, using a specific bank and changing setting as I shoot… and then later going back to the original settings, for future use.
Thanks,
SyBerguy
just select your specific bank and make your changes. The quick reset buttons will not reset these banks, to do that you have to go into the menu and reset it.
They covered a lot of these things back in season one of the show.
One thing I am wondering is if it’s possible to set different copyright settings for each bank?
great to have you guys back !
I wonder why Joe McNally does not recommend the Gary Fong dome. they come in handy where i can not bounce the flash off the ceiling. I would use the dome over the little diffuser
Hi Guys, Great stuff !! it’s great to have you back. But can you cover how to focus on moving bird photography with a bright sky???
Cheers
Finally _ I waited desperatly for some more tips from you! Thanks for all the work you put in !
Great to see you guys back, and I really like the new look of the site!
Hello matt and scott,
great show!

Great your back guys, I`ve learnt a lot again!!
Wow. I am new to the show and just watched all of season one in the past week or so. This is great! I just got a D90 for Christmas and am fairly new to photography. Your show has answered a ton of my questions. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Scott;
Your hints on Sports shooting is right on except for minimun shutter speed. Yes 1000th is a must for football. soccer, rugby and LaCrosse but some Women sports and some Indoor sports you can get great shots at lower speeds rather than raising the ISO. I shoot basketball between 750-800 and a little bit lower for wrestling. You need to really know your sports and YES – shoot a lot to learn what works on any given sports day.
Hi Guys,
I would like to start off by saying that i have learned so much from you guys, and still learning. I recommend you to all my fellow amature photographers.
I just had a question. When i shoot a group of people in low light, and i have my apature wide open like 1.8 or 2.8. Its hard for me to get the entire group in focus. Can you guys give me a tip on how i can have every person in the group sharp in focus rather then just a few in the center sharp and the rest are out of focus.
Your tip will be highly appreciated. I own a Nikon D90 incase you wanted to know.
Tariq Ali
Oh, so glad you’re back…show looks good, and I’m excited to be watching you again.
Good tip on the ND filter on fast lens.
I am wondering, can you (instead of ND filter) also use exposure compensation (like you said in a earlier video, that is used when you want to keep your AV for depth of field but you do not agree with the camera’s metering)?
So, if there is too much light, keep the AV at 1.8 but drop your exposure compensation to compensate for the bright condition.
Scott/Matt, just want to say thanks for the great help you guys are. I’ve just sat and watched 5 episodes back to back and I’m not done yet!
Keep up the good work.
As always, loved the show. However, I did not realize that D-Town was back on the Internet. Maybe there are some others who did not get the word. I suggest that Matt mention it again in his blogs. That is where I found out (today – 3/2/10) and now have a lot of catching up to do. Also, I encourage other viewers to notify their friends who may not have gotten the word.
I am a 13 year old going to get a Nikon D5000 and you guys help me out greatly. Thankyou and I love the show.
Laurie from England, I have now got every single D Town episode on Apple TV , so thanks for all that great knowledge, Can you do so more on using a Nikon 70-200 F2.8 and more examples of lens compression, shot at 200mm not 70,
Best Regards
Laurence Pierce : United Kingdom
Great stuff!
Thanks Matt,
That link was most helpfull. Now there is no reason for not buying the lens.
Thanks for very quick answer.
Looking forward to next weeks show
